Also backed Cracksman for the Arc at 5/1.

I don’t think there is a strong pool of older horses and the 3YO crop need to be good to reach Cracksman’s level of form.

Enable was impressive in her races last season but early doors she was beating some weak quality in the main and she was favourably in in other contests. I just doubt it was a strong Arc last year and Enable has reached a rating that is going to be hard to improve on much, judging by similarly rated fillies in the past. Much more improvement and she’s into best ever territory.

I expect Cracksman to keep improving and, technically, he’s higher rated than Enable by 2 lbs.

    Arc De Triomphe Cracksman 5/1

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

In the 1.50 Newmarket Music Society makes appeal. He’s one of the lesser exposed runners and winners have come from all his races. His last run in particular has worked out well and he looks the one to be with. Trainer Sylvester Kirk has booked Ryan Moore and I expect Music Society to finish strongly and pick them off up the hill.

I felt 10/3 was a fair price here.

    1.50 Newmarket Music Society 10/3

A no show from Music Society, very weak in the betting and a bit outpaced there was some sign of temperament as he hung fire a bit when asked to try to close and he then shied away from a rival who wasn’t close enough to him to really be an intimidating factor. Just a bit of a question mark on his resolution after watching that one.

My own fault, I swore “No Handicaps” this season LOL

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Coventry Stakes Royal Ascot Sergei Prokofiev 33/1

Steve, I did think it was a very promising run. What do you make of the 3rd The Irish Rover? Wasn’t expected to be as close on debut, so to me that could be a pretty promising run as well.

I can’t find the prices for the race on oddschecker- i wonder what price he is?

Jack, only SkyBet had odds for the Coventry and they were only quoting Sergei Prokofiev.

I’d be shocked if anything from that race gets near the O’Brien horse next time/if they meet again.

I quoted the wrong firm there, it was Bet365 who had odds up. I often confuse the two.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

In the Derby, I don’t like what I am hearing regarding Saxon Warrior so I have done another selection.

I am going with Nelson, who I backed for the St Leger.

I just feel he will get the trip and he’s not far off the top in what looks a mediocre year at this stage.

    Nelson 25/1 (Coral)

Not seen the race yet. I am having big problems watching races on Ze Turf. The live feed more often than not has “No races to show” even though I am logged in and the replay page was freezing literally after every stride.

I’ll catch up with the race later.

The ground was very soft and I noticed that the Racing Post gave her a starting figure of 90, which is a decent start. I have tended to avoid De Royer-Dupre of late though. He just doesn’t seem to be hitting the big ones these past couple of years and only Vazirabad seems to be making headlines for him.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

    4.55 Newbury Blazing Saddles 4/1

Ralph Beckett’s son of High Chaparral made a good start at Doncaster in March, finishing third having looked like he might win before tiring on the heavy ground. He showed a good attitude that day and looks the sort to progress and make a decent enough stayer.

The Beckett stable is in very good form this past fortnight and is 7/19 for a 36% strike rate. Shareef Star is a son of Sea The Stars and cost 700000 Guineas as a yearling but the Stoute Stable are 0/10 in the last 14 days and despite Dante and Derby entries, he may need the experience today. Other well bred and expensive entries here but I felt Blazing Saddles with the run was better value at 4/1, he looked a sure fire future winner on debut.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Have you tried the Dubai Racing TV channel Steve? They tend to show whatever is on ATR and Racing UK and it’s free.

I’ll give that one a go Joni. I don’t know what’s happening with Ze Turf, it used to be reliable and easy to log in for the live races.

    Thanks.

O’Brien’s Scat Daddy colt Sergei Prokofiev made his second start at Navan today. He was rated the same as previous winner Pride Of Pimlico coming in and was getting 5 lbs from the horse who won the first 2YO race in Ireland this season.

Sergei Prokofiev was 2/5 Fav and he looked fitter and better in his coat tackling 5F again on yielding to soft ground. He was a little slow out the gate but didn’t lose any real ground and he was always going a shade better than Pride Of Pimlico approaching the final furlong, Sergei Prokofiev was just a shade green again when first asked but going into the last furlong he took over and went right away as Ryan seemed keen to push him out to teach him something. In the end he passed the winning line seven and a half lengths clear and he looked like a colt who will get 6F.

Everything you could have asked for and there is more to come. No Coventry betting available for now but you can be sure he’ll be shorter than the 33/1 first offered. I can’t see my theoretical next rating of 100 being too far off the mark.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Bet365 have cut Sergei Prokofiev to 10/1 for the Coventry, other firms are quoting now and Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill all go 8/1.

Paddy Power quote only Sergei Prokofiev and go just 9/2.

Jackstar is 16/1 next best of the other half dozen quoted.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I reckon that they have the wrong favourite for the Bet365 Trial at Sandown (3.00 Friday)

John Gosden is in form and his colt won by 14 lengths last time, so you can see why that would excite some, but he seems to have something to find for my money and I can’t have him as favourite here.

14 lengths is a long way but it was a poor race and the ground was bottomless. Time and again, wide margin wins on heavy going prove a punting graveyard when different ground is encountered.

For me, the best form lies with Chilean, who also won on soft last time but it was a group 3 race and he is not penalised for that Prix La Force win.

Chilean has an 8 lbs higher rating than the Gosden horse, who faces much better ground this time and he looked nothing special in two starts at two, whereas Chilean was 6th (Beaten 6 lengths) in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy.

Ispolini is a promising son of Dubawi and he represents a stable in form with Charlie Appleby. He’s been backed and is getting a little tight at 7/2 now.

I was going to play Chilean at 4/1 but decided to waited for the safety net of money back and have invested at 3/1. For me Martyn Meade’s horse sets a good standard and is the one to beat, he may even improve for the better ground he meets for the first time.

    Bet365 Trail Chilean 3/1

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
