Both Constitution Hill and Shiskin have been entered surely they won’t both run.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 4, 2023 at 19:50 #1672712How close does Shiskin get to CH , is Bowen getting the ride ?
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 4, 2023 at 20:00 #1672713The prime objective with Shishkin is just to get him to actually race….so both could very much show up.
If CH sidesteps it, then i’d very much like a bet in this.
Irish Point mustn’t travel given his price.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 4, 2023 at 20:07 #1672714Irish Point entered. Goes on soft, has the stamina to get up the hill no problem. Race fit. Has other entries but connections have their soft ground 3m hurdler nailed on already.
Irish Point 14-1 b365
Edited to take account of Jack’s comment:
“Irish Point mustn’t travel given his price.”
You’re almost certainly right Jack. But they say there’s a sucker born every minute and I’m one of them
December 4, 2023 at 20:10 #1672715Imagine if Shiskin turned over Constitution Hill, not likely but never say never.

Remember when Verdana Blue chinned Buveur d’Air in the Christmas hurdle? Watching trainer and jockey trying to look pleased was absolutely priceless.

2 miles
Shiskin will still be at the start when Constitution hill has crossed the line

Yes I remember that
Nico did everything he could to not win that race
December 4, 2023 at 20:33 #1672720I hope he does start , it’ll make it a damn sight more enjoyable the usual CH walkover
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 4, 2023 at 20:41 #1672722He is currently stating it is the intention to run them both.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 4, 2023 at 20:48 #1672725GAG- I think Gordie will be waiting for the vibes from Nicky. It wouldn’t shock me if they dec’d him late on if CH swerves.
14-1 tells the story he mustn’t be a likely runner, but why do the bookies know this lol?? Other than presumably his raft of xmas entries.

He’s currently handwringing and crying that he might get criticised if he runs CH and he might get criticised if he doesn’t. The man is so thin skinned he’d lacerate himself on a feather. Lydia Hislop still off the Christmas card list.
December 4, 2023 at 21:16 #1672728I doubt he runs CH now given Xmas hurdle round the corner…..?
But owner and yard supposedly all aboard running both. I mean, Shishkins objective is to finish the race and thats it so getting beat easy by CH wont be a bother on them

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 4, 2023 at 22:58 #1672734Shishkin’s objective is to actually start the race……once a horse has refused to race the first time they are much more likely to repeat the offense going forward. There was an interesting opinion piece in the RP a few days ago by Catherine Macrae regarding horses refusing (Mad Moose and Vodkatini were obviously mentioned) and here are a couple of snipets from the piece that give food for thought:
‘Australian sprinter Chautauqua, who was on par with Shishkin on six top-level victories before he first refused to compete. Known as the grey flash, he pulled the stunt six more times before connections decided enough was enough’.
‘Again and again, the record books show us that horses who refuse to race once are almost guaranteed to do so again, with Supreme winner Labaik, Oaks heroine Sariska and Hong Kong’s cult hero Pakistan Star all supporting this worrying conclusion which no doubt has been at the forefront of Nicky Henderson’s mind over the past seven days’.
‘It could very well be less about if Shishkin will repeat this newest trick, and more a question of when’.
Coming back to the race itself, what makes me chuckle is that Hendo is worried about CH having a hard race in deep ground 17 days before the Christmas Hurdle (reallly….the hardest race he has had was in his PTP when he got beat a head) but he doesn’t mention it is exactly the same for Shishkin, who comparably speaking actually has the infinitely tougher job on over Christmas. Guess his soft spot for Shishkin must have fallen off a bit after all the headaches he is giving him.
Fyi – Sandown on the hurdles course is currently soft (heavy in places) with predictions of possibly another 25mm of rain to fall during the week – I would be surprised if he ran them both as clearly it is Shishkin who needs the run on Saturday more than CH.
December 4, 2023 at 23:03 #1672735I’d try to run both of them. What if the Christmas Hurdle would be a victim of the weather? Things are quite unpredictable now, just get a run in both of them. Maybe the BHB should introduce the “Seven Barrows G1 Hurdle” so Nicky’s horses would be walked over to the start….
December 5, 2023 at 05:22 #1672747With Shiskin Nico will be helping with CH to get him to start , question is if that works how does he do come the KG … does he have to enter another horse to do sim ….if so who

Common sense kicking in, and I’ll leave the race alone now, with the obvious refund on Benson
He surely goes to Aintree now
