I’d say it’s fifty fifty CH will take part with Henderson giving out concerns over the going.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 8, 2023 at 00:25 #1673001He sluiced up in the Tolworth on extremely heavy ground (time was a whopping 30.90s slow) and Hendo knew before dec time that the ground on Saturday (at best) would be proper soft and before that it was all about him potentially having a hard race 17 days before Kempton…..just wish he would make up his mind on what excuse…..er….sorry reason he is using for potentially withdrawing him and stick to it.
It will be odd after making all these continued noises about why he shouldn’t run him if he then does actually turn up…..I really don’t understand what he is worried about as clearly CH isn’t a horse that underperforms (relatively speaking for him) either first time out or after a lengthy break (the Champion Hurdle win came as his first run of that calendar year and almost 3 months after his Christmas Hurdle win) so to me the only reason not to run him is if you don’t think he is fit enough but even if he was say only 75-80% fit that would in all likelyhood still not be enough to stop him winning…..even if Shishkin decides he will take part.
December 8, 2023 at 11:29 #1673032Too much talk about one horse imo. This is jumps racing.
Two against the red hot fav. You wear it well and the old rogue (he’s not even lovable these days) Goshen. These are his optimum conditions and if he was to ever run a good race again then tomorrow is the day. Heavy, right handed, small field.
December 8, 2023 at 14:20 #1673048Agree with refuse to bend if hendo iffy about it now come tomorrow he will scratch CH from race

December 8, 2023 at 14:28 #1673050Sandown are considering an inspection in the morning suggesting with the forecast overnight rain it will only get worse.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 8, 2023 at 18:58 #1673068I will give good old Goshen another chance. It has been some time for him to run in proper heavy ground and Sandown suits him. Betting without Constitution Hill, even though he propably wont run anyway.
Goshen 11/1 (without Constitution Hill)
December 9, 2023 at 08:27 #1673111Constitution Hill and Shiskin both non runners.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 9, 2023 at 08:31 #1673113We should all give our heads a good wobble about this!
It was ALWAYS likely he would pull CH and we should have all been on the rest of the field at massive ante post prices!
December 9, 2023 at 08:43 #1673115Ouch imagine thinking you were coming to see the Champion Hurdler and getting a Mares Hurdle instead. Luckily its on a very good card anyway and it was a bonus race to be given.
Fair play to connections of the two mares, always a chance CH doesn’t turn up so its worth entering against him, must have been plenty of mares options for them instead. Sleepy always comes here and he’s not without a chance of adding a 2nd Fighting Fifth to his CV, he’d be the bet for me at the prices probably.
December 9, 2023 at 12:09 #1673170I’ll say it again if Henderson had trained Desert Orchard then Dessie wouldn’t have won a GC …. , I’ll watch and hope Goshen shows a bit more
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 9, 2023 at 13:21 #1673205What a genuine horse , deserves his day
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 9, 2023 at 13:23 #1673207He’s a dude, love him!
December 9, 2023 at 13:24 #1673209Well done Not So Sleepy and connections, got his day in the sun. Well, the muck.
December 9, 2023 at 13:28 #1673210Oldest winner of the race.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 9, 2023 at 13:33 #1673212Well done to them, was a very gutsy performance.
December 9, 2023 at 13:34 #1673214Well done to Not So Sleepy and his connections….another nice race win; won the Autumn Cup Handicap on the Flat at Newbury a few months ago, on heavy ground.
December 9, 2023 at 16:02 #1673281With not much time between races, can’t run a horse today on heavy ground and expect it to be in perfect condition for the Christmas Hurdle.
Right decision.
