Rabdan rated 96 for today’s race by the Racing Post. That’s his best ever rating with them. Miles short of the required standard. Clutching at straws blaming the jockey about having a slow horse under him.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 3, 2018 at 23:06 #1352879No straw clutching at all Steve. I agreed with you that he wasn’t going to win a Derby. Just saying that he wasn’t given a good ride. He is a stamina horse that was made to sprint – that’s all
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 4, 2018 at 11:30 #1352890John Gosden’s Photographer runs in the opener at Newcastle tonight. It’s not exactly a renowned starting point for a Derby candidate but it is early enough in the season for it to be a stepping stone to a more recognised trial.
He needs to win this impressively to keep the dream alive I feel. This is a class 5 contest so big leaps are needed if he is to line up on Derby Day.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 4, 2018 at 17:21 #1352929Photographer’s Derby dream died right there. Looked like he was coming with a run but it petered out quickly. He’s a slightly awkward colt and pulled a bit today but taken wide the race was there for the taking but he just could not stamp his authority on them and there will be no Derby for him. He looks miles short of the standard required.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 4, 2018 at 18:16 #1352933Shame about Photographer. I’d heard they were pleased with his development over the winter.
May 4, 2018 at 20:22 #1352953Regarding the French Derby, Oddschecker has betting for it but they state that the race is on Sunday 6th May.
Where do they get this bollocks from and how do they get away with? How hard is it to employ someone with one iota of nous about Horse Racing? Where are they getting the incompetent numpties from. F’ing useless.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 7, 2018 at 12:14 #1353366A decent looking renewal of the Chester Vase coming up on Wednesday. I shan’t be getting involved in the race itself but will be hoping Young Rascal puts in a winning performance as I had a flyaway nibble at the 66/1 on offer for the Derby after his Newbury maiden romp.
He’s drawn well in 2 but is up against a some colts who bring in trial form from elsewhere (Ispolini & Hunting Horn) and plenty of other unexposed types. Still, he looked the part last time out.
May 7, 2018 at 12:52 #1353367Something very wrong with the Chester Vase betting on Oddschecker.
They show only The Pentagon, Delano Roosevelt and Kew Gardens as being in the race. The declarations for the race show that none of the three are actually in the 10 runners declared.

Oddschecker really are a farce of an outfit.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 8, 2018 at 00:17 #1353428Ghaiyyath is one I’ll be keeping an eye on. Looks the type who could be suited by this race. Possibility he might run in the Dante.
May 8, 2018 at 06:14 #1353437I’m going to be backing Young Rascal for wednesdays race Charles. The way he stretched away impressed me last time and I’ll take him here.
Nice price for the big race at 66s.
For that, I’ve played Nelson at 14/1 in the last 24 hours. Seriously tempted to get stuck into Saxon warrior but can’t be backing something at evens antepost stepping up half a mile in trip. I’ll possibky back him on the day.
For now.. Young Rascal to win the Chester Vase @ 5/1
Nelson to win the Derby @ 14/1May 8, 2018 at 08:55 #1353442Evens may be better than something like 13-8 on on the day. ;o)
May 9, 2018 at 15:30 #1353517Since I’m on Young Rascal here, I’ve had a few quid on him outright for the Derby at 20/1.
Currently:
Nelson @ 14/1
My Lord and Master @ 66/1 e/w
Young Rascal @ 20/1
That’ll do me for the time being after today. Not at all like me to have more than two in a race.May 9, 2018 at 15:41 #1353518Again had to have a bet on the race to watch on the Bet365 app and after grabbing the 66s for Epsom i couldnt betray my lad but regardless of todays small pickings that was beautiful in regards to the big day in 3 weeks time. Well done Mom too. Exciting stuff from the Rascal.
May 9, 2018 at 15:44 #1353519Oi oi the Rascal.
What a day. Incredibly I’ve had a treble at Chester. Before today I don’t think I’ve had three at Chester ever
May 9, 2018 at 15:56 #1353523Same AS YOU mom, I was on Young Rascal and I thought he was quite impressive.
He didn’t have it easy and still found good pace to pick up late on. I tried to grab
the best price as per oddschecker, which was 40s at Betfred, but that was obviously
nonsense. Boylesports were the best of what was left and I think 20s is worth having
a stab at.I’m sitting okay at the moment (I hope) with
Saxon Warrior 33/1
Nelson 33/1
Young Rascal 20/1.I think that will do me now until the big day
May 9, 2018 at 16:04 #1353524I should have said very well done to you too Charles, I just clocked that
you had him pegged for the Derby at 66s. That’s a very nice bit of business
Thankfully for me, Boylesports were slowest to respond to the race, that 20s has
gone now, best price 16sMay 9, 2018 at 18:13 #1353533It’s hard to believe that Christopher Robin – who was once ante post favourite for this years Epsom Derby – is running in a Class 3 handicap at Chester tomorrow off mark of 81.
If we take his first run of the season as a prep for today, and that he retains at least a fraction of the early promise he must have shown at Ballydoyle, then he could be thrown in. Hard to imagine why they’d expose his mark for a measly 11k though.
