CAPRI 50/1
Was talking with Steve on this horse for last month in 2yo summary thread and feel he turn into derby horse next year won last 2starts was unlucky 2nd on debut.Won at 7f last time with talk of National stakes which i hope he not go to.The Juvinile turf on Irish Champions day or Beresford i hope be next port of call for him.He be even better at middle distances next year.
Don’t see CHURCHILL a derby horse while UTAH won well other day could develop into smart horse. Not a fan of
DOUGLAS MACARTHUR.Of those not at AOB got to say BEST OF DAYS was nice winner at Sandown be intresting to see where he go next.Andre Fabre has more entries for Epsom derby then seen for a while a few i like that unraced are HIGH FIDELITY that owned by Coolmore. which Mr Tabor has a Sea the stars colt with Fabre to 00Shawara.Also like MEISTRSINGER has profile of MOONLIGHT MAGIC from last year.
And RICH HISTORY also unraced but trained by Dermot Weld was 1st horse caught my eye for derby not out yet but be waiting to see how he does.
August 10, 2016 at 13:53 #1259325Maybe Caravaggio will give it a go and stretch out his 45 MPH to a mile and a half?
August 10, 2016 at 14:50 #1259329Let me throw another one into the mix for the classics, Ahqlaaq, just showed a bright turn of foot at Salisbury, not sure if he’s bred for a mile and half but certainly will get a mile no problem.
August 10, 2016 at 15:22 #1259334Judge that one race CARRAVAGGIO will not stay mate i know you only joking.I not seen winner at Salisbury yet
September 15, 2016 at 13:41 #1263582Could say no horse has cemented himself in terms of being fave for derby.Feel Churchill be 1m2 horse
But still lots of 1m maidens to come this season
September 15, 2016 at 16:48 #1263610I’ve stuck a few quid on Erdogan at 50/1, unraced colt Frankel x Dar Ra Mi with John Gosden. As I see potential for his odds to shorten if he makes a pleasing debut. Hopefully he runs in 1 or 2 one mile maidens and is then put away for next year.
September 15, 2016 at 19:35 #1263626Of the ones that have raced and are entered I like “Wings of Eagles” trained by A P O’Brien and “Waldgeist” trained by Andre Fabre.
From the unraced with entries I like “Crystal Ocean” trained by Sir Michael Stoute who is entered in the division 2 of the Maiden at Newbury on Saturday and I am quite taken by the breeding of “Nathan Mayer”, also in training with Sir Michael Stoute and possibly the Aga Khan owned “Saroush” n training with Alain De Royer Dupree.
There are no prices quoted on Betfair for any of these but I will go tomorrow to the local bookies and see what they will quote for the Irish and English ones, I’m not holding my breath that I get prices that I would like to hear from them.
September 15, 2016 at 20:13 #1263631Just for the crack against Douglas MacArthur I picked D’bai at 50/1 for a quid in the Derby. I thought he would step up in trip but didn’t and I can’t say he’s come on from his first run.
I have £2 on Capri at 50/1 because I thought his first start was promising and he did build on it without looking spectacular so far.
I liked the look of Exemplar and I think this colt will improve for middle distances next year. I fired a fiver on him at 33/1 for the Derby and am surprised to see him still at those odds after his 5 length win and Land Fall’s subsequent defeat of Douglas MacArthur.
Land Fall is rated 110 but Exemplar remains on 88 for now, an anomaly if you consider he ran Land Fall to three parts of a length on debut.
South Seas is my other main Derby horse. He fair sluiced up on debut in the mud and looked like a horse who would be suited by the test of the Racing Post Trophy. It seems that he is set to tackle the Dewhurst but I am not sure that will play to his strengths. I am hopeful that he will end up in the Derby as a horse with a little bit of toe and 25/1 seemed a reasonable bet.
One thing is for sure and this is that Stan James are having a laugh with their odds of 4/1 for Churchill to win the Derby. That has to be the worst value in history. Talk about having no balls. Channel 4 should be featuring this sort of thing and humiliating Stan James into growing a pair regarding ante-post betting.
4/1 for the Derby? Ridiculous and pathetic. No wonder some people would rather pump a FOBT
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Crystal Ocean was 2nd on debut decent showing from him expect a 1m maiden win by him next time
CAPRI VS EXEMPLAR in Beresford stakes on sunday looks like after that race we see who be main derby horse for AOB it not Churchill that a guineas horse
And got Royal Lodge tomorrow with BEST OF DAYS taking on Douglaus Macarthur who i do not rate that high.
September 29, 2016 at 11:09 #1265069All three in the beresford should be fascinating when they go on good ground. I suspect Capri will turn into a Derby horse and the other two will be good over 10f.
October 12, 2016 at 16:01 #1266812Best of luck to those on Capri @ 50’s
Popped into a bookies on Monday to watch the 9F Maiden at the Curragh. Was really impressed by the 3rd in the race Sir John Lavery . Was given a nice introduction and flew home at the end.
First dart at the Derby e/w @ 50s
Following the RPT at Donny, i can certainly see SJL being a major part of the AOB Derby team for next year. Added 33-1 @ Spoylesports ( crazy price )
October 12, 2016 at 16:12 #1266814Watch out for Cliffs of Moher if he runs this weekend, I hope they get a run into him as a 2yo.
October 18, 2016 at 16:09 #1267725Thanks Sunspangled, i will keep an eye on him.
I was very impressed with Sir John today, winning easily by 6L from Harzands half Brother at Gowran on unsuitable ground only a week after his debut. Been cut generally into 20’s but managed to get some on at Boyles @ 33’s to win.
Noticed as well he’s been cut quite a bit for Doncaster but surely he wont run there now
The dream is on
October 18, 2016 at 23:18 #1267759yes i was very impressed with sir john botchy. thought he made him learn alot today. and deffinately needs further

Yes, i was also impressed by the Gosden / Oppenheimer horse at Newmarket yesterday Cracksman . Added a bet @ 33’s E/W to go alongside Sir John.
I feel quite happy with those two to be honest.

Hi Darren, i looked at him yesterday as i usually follow any money from this stable in particular :) Most of the times its the best way to see who is going to run, never mind win.
Anyway i looked at the 4’s and it went to 2’s shortly after, so i backed another. Judging by the price now you would think it is passed the post, but Even money is very short for what he has achieved up to now.
