Very uninspiring Derby Market at the moment. The fact city of troy is still at the head of the betting says there isn’t a top horse yet. I was hoping aidan would aim Henry longfellow at Derby but French Derby no doubt following st marks basilica route. We live in hope of a top Derby horse emerging somewhere.
May 7, 2024 at 19:36 #1693407Couteau, he’s been entered in the Derby trial at Leopardstown on Sunday, plus he’s still in the Derby after today’s latest scratching.
I’ve copied you and backed him too.
May 7, 2024 at 20:13 #1693409Yep, Bobby. Pleasantly surprised to see him entered up. He might still hold him back for the Irish Derby but you never know. Watched the Oddschecker podcast today and Gary O’Brien gave him a favourable mention.
May 8, 2024 at 11:14 #1693448Joseph obriens horses in great form. Maybe his year beating his dad. With donnacha having bremen could be a great obrien family battle in the offing.
May 8, 2024 at 15:09 #1693482Will the winner be found from a race at Southwell ?
May 8, 2024 at 17:47 #1693523Seeing how much most of O’briens Colts are improving for the run. I still think City of Troy is the most likely winner here.
May 8, 2024 at 18:44 #1693529Gallantly was beaten at odds on in his seasonal debut but won the maiden well today. He probably ran OK the time before but it still looked like he had taken a step forward for the run.
May 8, 2024 at 22:09 #1693544He looked superb it has to be said. Was touted as a top horse last year and maybe he will be a late developer. Certainly a lovely looking horse to own.
May 10, 2024 at 10:40 #1693692LOS ANGELES 33/1
I put this horse up on twitter as a dark horse after maiden win went on to win group one in
FranceAnd now confirmed he return on Sunday in the derringstown. Race under a different sponsor now but same race
May 10, 2024 at 11:25 #1693696Alas no entry for Spoken Truth on Sunday, so I’d say highly unlikely to go for Epsom. Sorry, Bobby, looks like I steered you down a blind alley.
May 10, 2024 at 14:31 #1693713I would definitely be in the camp for CITY OF TROY come Derby Day, like a few of you said his pedigree – By triple crown winner Justify, the mare competed both Oaks on UK and Irish Soils, and was runner up in a Musidora, then on to Galileo the damsire who needs no introduction. That 8/1 on offer after his defeat in the Guineas has long gone.
May 10, 2024 at 14:49 #1693716I wasn’t overly confident on City of Troy for the guineas because although a short price he was around his starting price for months on end. Usually an O’Brien hot pot would be smashed up, even down to something like 4/9 with what he achieved as a two year old and connections like to smash one off the boards. The market could be telling on the wellbeing of him

May 11, 2024 at 12:13 #1693864I thought City of Troy was too bad to be true, and if I’m being honest Nathan, I shared your pessimism leading up to the off.
I couldn’t bet him now, but I’m hoping rather than expecting to see him bounce back here.
May 11, 2024 at 14:38 #1693904The Euphrates 50-1 ew
Second string today but he’s a bonny little horse who ought to cope with the track and should have no problem staying the trip.
May 11, 2024 at 15:01 #1693909Added Illinois 16-1 for now
May 11, 2024 at 15:07 #1693912Cashed in no excuses really.
