So we know he will need a G1 10F race on his CV but will they want to also get a mile G1 on it as well for breeding purposes?

well he would say that wouldn’t he for the breeding purposes (will make a good tag line on the brochure) but has he really had a real outstanding one previously?CAS why wouldn’t they take him on , he travelled better than the winner and prob has a better turn of foot , on better ground he could have every chance of reversing the form

I suspect it was a good Derby. The way Ambiente Friendly was cantering turning for home, I reckon he would have won in most years.
What a magnificent ride Ryan Moore gave City Of Troy. That’s one
of the best Derby’s I’ve seen no matter who the opposition was.
3/1 was a gift, my double was down with Rubies Are Red but I didn’t
miss him this time. Well done to all that kepf faith with him.Does it have to be a very good crop considering that the top class 10-12F older horse brigade look more than a little thin on the ground to provide that challenge when the generations clash.
City If Troy beat the right horses imo in 2nd and 3rd. I dont think it was that bad a race. AOB fair play he said he would get COT back.
HDLG, I think a drop in distance might suit him. He was taking a bit of a grip early on. He ran a great race but I am not convinced he can reverse the form.
I wonder if connections of the runner-up wish they had stuck with Shepherd? Surely he would have kicked on when the horse tanked up to the leaders; instead, Havlin waited and Moore got first run on him n
No negatives from me just happy to see we have a champion 3yo to look forward too and follow this year and what a ride Havlin gave Ambiente Friendly..the Gosden’s must be mad not to use him more often.

Havlin should have reacted quicker to Moore’s move but I don’t think he would have won.

The first winning favourite of the meeting. City Of Troy won very easily under what looked a pretty ordinary ride. Such was his superiority you have to think pretty much anyone would have won on him. We can go on about how he ran through the line, but the real value of the performance will be determined by what happens to the second and third. Are they proper Group 1 horses, or Group 2/Group 3 material? As I said before the race the middle distance cupboard looks relatively bare, and without checking I am guessing that City Of Troy will have been cut to unbackable prices for all the major events.
If O’Brien is a ‘genius’ for getting this right then surely he’s the exact opposite for making a complete horlicks of the Guineas?
