Noone can live with us. End of.

Does that include a poor Liverpool side and a Sunderland side that conceded five against Newcastle a fortnight ago?

Time to face reallity Mattthew. Chelsea are good, but they’re no world beaters, other teams can definitely live with them, and Drogba is not the best forward in the world.

Typical. I was lining up a Birmingham win for next week see Football Mad thread. Might not get the intended odds now after that…

Chelsea are the best the Premier League can offer which says to me that the league will be won regardless of the defeats v Liverpool and Sunderland.

If Chelsea are the best the PL can offer then the league is in trouble, and so are our teams in Europe.

They’ve lost three of their last eight league games, they’ve failed to score in four of those games. On top of that they were awful in pre-season, they got stuffed off Man Utd in the Charity Shield, and a strong side lost at home to Newcastle in the Carling Cup.

Meanwhile, Man Utd stretch their unbeaten run to 27 games but because they’ve drawn a lot people are not giving them credit. They’re not getting beat and that is key. What’s more, United always, and I stress ALWAYS, come good after Christmas.

It’s United’s title to lose for me, but I’d love to see Arsenal win it as they are without doubt the best footballing team in the division. It’s just a shame they can’t stop conceding goals :D

Well their not getting beat but that obviously isnt key because Chelsea have lost three and they are still 3 points clear of Utd??……..The 3points for a win have nullified the good point away from home because if the teams around you are winning its worth nothing. You can talk about preseason all you want means nothing at all as the league at the moment proves. Utd come good after Christmas??….what happened last season??. Arsenal will never win the league until Wenger strengthens them up, fanny football at its height IMHO……..very nice on the eye but it wont win you anything as their trophy record indicates the last few years.

Of course it’s key, because if those six or seven draws that they’ve earned had been defeats they’d be ten points behind. Or looking at it slightly different, if Chelsea’s three defeats had been draws they’d have an extra three points.

So of course not getting beat is key – it doesn’t matter who is three points above who at this moment in time. When did they start giving the trophy out in the middle of November?

I’ve read so much rubbish on this thread about how Chelsea are the best team in the world, about how they’re going to go through the season unbeaten, about how no-one can touch them, about how Drogba is the best striker in the world etc etc. It just makes me laugh. And yet now you’re saying they are the best team the Premier League can offer.

How the hell can they be the best team the PL can offer? They’ve been beaten by Man City, a Man City team who can’t score goals and play so negatively. They got beat off Liverpool, a Liverpool side that were in the bottom half of the table at the time they played and have since failed to beat Wigan and Stoke. Chelsea then got hammered off Sunderland at home, the same Sunderland side that conceded five against Newcastle.

So how can they be the best the PL can offer? Are you basing your opinion on the fact that they’ve got a few points more than anyone else in the middle of November?

Like I say, they don’t give titles out in November, and you’ll probably find that teams that don’t get beat (Man Utd) will eventually accumulate more points than a team the loses three games in eight.

A/ I dont subscribe to the fact that Chelsea are the best in the world…….At this moment in time they ARE the best in the Premier League look at the table…That NEVER lies!!….and certainly titles arent won in November. I was chatting to a Utd fan the other day and we agreed that the title will probably go to who comes out best in the games between Utd and Chelsea. i think that is probably right. Your opinions about Utd being unbeaten just dont hold substance though. You are talking about ifs buts and maybes.
At this precise moment in time Chelsea are the best no question.

B/ The rubbish being spouted is from SKY fans who probably didnt experience the real support of Chelsea Football Club when they didnt have a pot to piss in in the late 70’s early 80’s….seems you are taking all that tosh on board!!

Utd may be unbeaten but they are dropping points where they never would have before

2-1 up against Fulham with 5 mins left, missed a penalty and then conceded a late equaliser

3-1 up against Everton before conceding 2 goals in injury time

2-0 up at home against West Brom at HT before conceding twice in 2nd half

Unless Utd can stop the rot in this regard, the league is still Chelsea’s to lose in the long run.

I’ve layed Chelsea at 1.66, 1.72, 1.8, 1.84, 188 and 1.96. (you only have to read back through this thread to see that I was against them from the very start)

Right now I could back them at just over 2.0 to guarantee an acceptable profit, but quite frankly, I don’t want to. They’ve got some amazingly tough games over the next six weeks, and they’ll have to play them without the likes of Alex and Terry if reports are to be believed.

People bang on about how Chelsea have a lot of injuries. True, yes they have, but those injuries are to the players in the squad who are in their 30s now, players who have played a lot of football down the years. Has it ever crossed your mind that these players might not be injury-free ever again?

From what I’ve heard Terry will never be able to play three or four games on the trot ever again, Lampard’s injury is very serious, and Drogba is fragile as a Kieran Dyer or Owen Hargreaves.

Lay Chelsea all day long… they won’t even be in the top three come what May.

Chelsea still to win it for me.. Ok they’ve had a rough patch but all teams do. It’s the Champion sides who stand up and be counted after Christmas and Chelsea are without doubt a Champion side IMO and will do again!

The part about draws and being unbeaten is absolutely ludicrous to me! It’s the wins and the 3 point games that make the huge difference come the end of the season… Champion sides grind out wins and turn games that are looking like draws into wins.

Simple equation to back that up over 7 games…

    Play 7 – Draw 7 – Lose 0 – Pts = 7

    Play 7 – Win 5 – Lose 2 – Pts = 15

Take your pick, it’s a no brainer!

    Pathetic Zamorston, absolutely pathetic.

Champion sides that grind out wins lol… When have Chelsea done that this year? Every game they’ve lost… and even the Villa draw… they’ve achieved without even scoring.

I’m not even going to say anything else on this matter. In my opinion – and it’s only my opinion – you’re all deluded and know very little about football. To give the example you’ve give above is laughable. Which team are you referring to that has played seven and drawn seven? There isn’t one… so what the hell are you on about?

Like I said to Matthew at the beginning of the season, let’s see how many of you have the balls at the end of the season to admit you were wrong about Chelsea winning the title. They won’t win a thing.

Way over the top, OE; people can be immensely knowledgeable about football (or indeed any other subject) and a) be wrong, or b) disagree with you.

Draws happen naturally in the lowest scoring sport on earth. I don’t think they’re valuable when accumulated in such huge numbers. The simple maths of it is 5 wins and 5 defeats pays better than 10 draws, and Manchester United are well on their way to getting to 10 draws. Liverpool lost the PL in 2009 because of draws – they lost 2 games all season and never won the PL.

I’ve seen nothing from any other team to think Chelsea can’t win the PL.

By all means lay Chelsea but to suggest that they won’t be in the top 3 come May is just silly.

Whatever about the problems that Chelsea have I have seen nothing in any other team to suggest that they are capable of lifting the League trophy this season.

Don’t know if that question is aimed at me or Oneeye?

I’m a Leeds fan anyway for the record, so really I should hate Chelsea! Despite the conclusions that Oneeye comes to though, I do actually know a little bit about football and can appreciate good teams whether they are a rival of the team I support or not!

I still stand by what I said about turning potential draws into wins being key to winning titles and not remaining unbeaten through too many draws.. Through Man Utd’s years of dominance how many points did they steal in the last 5 minutes of games and from injury time winning goals?

Chelsea will still win it for me and if this thread drops away I will be bringing it back come May time to have a little chuckle at and see who knows their football and who doesn’t…
