I reckon we seen a very strong winner this year in the shape of Espoir D’Allen, and he looks absolutely nailed on to be in the shake up again next year.
Very rare to see a five year old land this, so asking a bit much for lightning to strike twice, but the one horse who absolutely jumps off the page to me is Fusil Raffles. As a backer of the ill fated Sir Erec for this years Triumph, I was absolutely blown away by him at Kempton, and I genuinely thought he looked a serious rival to the favourite. He obviously picked up an injury that day, but it was a minor one, and it’ll surely not be long before he’s good as new. I’ve been here before, I had high hopes for same connections We Have A Dream, at the tail end of last season, but this horse really impressed me. I won’t be betting many this far out, it continues to make sense to wait, but I’ll make an exception for this one. The 50’s, which is generally available, just looks completely wrong. I think he’s well worth the risk.
Klassical Dream, Champ, and City Island all boosted their claims too, but it will obviously make sense to wait and see what connections have in store for them, and I think Fusil has less question marks at this very early stage, and I think at this price, it can be justified having a small go.
Fusil Raffles 50’s
March 25, 2019 at 13:46 #1404729I’m on both Fusil Raffles and Dynamite Dollars already Bobby. Get out of my head!
March 25, 2019 at 17:22 #1404749lol Boz, I’m no leaving.
Wouldn’t be going mad on him, but he does look too big a price on that Kempton run.
March 25, 2019 at 18:08 #1404763If he wins stylishly at Aintree you’d see his price collapse. He’d certainlt be a lot more highly touted you’d imagine. I am worried by his sire, Saint Des Saints, and the fact that his offspring don’t seem to achieve much until presented with a fence but, at 50/1, it’s got to be a chance worth taking
March 26, 2019 at 06:54 #1405547I don’t think we should put a nail in the coffin of Buveur D’Air just yet. I know no one has said that but I think he would have won this year’s Champion Hurdle had he stayed on his feet. We know he beats Melon who was second, he’ll still only be nine at next year’s festival and we know this will be his target. I’m slightly disappointed with his odds at around 6-1 which I think is a little short all considered.
Pricewise has already suggested Band of Outlaws for this race and one would have to have been impressed his victory in the Fred Winter
I agree with the comments on Fusil Raffles. My only concern is Kempton is such a different track to Cheltenham it’s difficult to translate the form.
March 29, 2019 at 12:00 #1412553im wondering if Apples Jade is overpriced. Had excuses the last twice at Cheltenham and if she wins next time and shows her ability next season she will be one of the favourites again.
April 9, 2019 at 15:06 #1416933Saldier for me is worth a small bet at 36s. He was on terms with Espoir Dallen when falling at the last in his only start this year. .
April 11, 2019 at 11:42 #1417044Saldier looked by far the likeliest winner in that race before falling too
April 11, 2019 at 12:35 #1417046Wherever Saldier goes he’s worth watching. Hopefully it’s chasing though, I think he looks like he’d make a lovely one. One for the Arkle 2020!!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 27, 2019 at 00:51 #1423365I’ve got Sharjah on the shortlist for Punchestown, and a good run there would see the 40’s disappear for this.
Not bet yet, but certainly considering it.
May 3, 2019 at 17:44 #1430748Cashed out AJ. Mares hurdle next year probably.
May 25, 2019 at 11:02 #1441343It’s possible that missing the spring festivals will be a positive for Fusil Raffles. Espoir D’Allen was a very promising juvenile who missed Cheltenham and Aintree, becoming somewhat of a forgotten horse for the Champion.
How often will a horse start a Champion Hurdle at 16-1 having won 7 of 8 over hurdles ?
Saldier isn’t bred for fences; Thomas Darby is interesting for the Arkle
June 12, 2019 at 10:26 #1445108I’m relieved that Mr Adjudicator isn’t listed anywhere, as I think he look quite interesting here.
Happy enough to stick with just the one just now, but if Mr Adj was priced up, I’d be tempted.
I could see him come into The Stayers picture as well, so probably for the best that I can’t bet him right now.
July 4, 2019 at 13:09 #1447554The Grimes Hurdle tonight, and Band of Outlaws running. I’ll be watching how he gets on here, as the 40’s looks big right now.
Mr Adjudicator runs on the flat at Bellewstown tonight, and I’m hoping to see more from him too. Thankfully he’s not in any markets yet, so I’ll probably avoid a doomed Antepost should he win tonight.
July 4, 2019 at 20:30 #1447573Think JJ slevin would like that ride again
He seemed to think he had thomas Hobson easily covered and realised a little too late that he didnt
Best horse came second
July 4, 2019 at 22:01 #1447578Not sure FF91, Hobson wasn’t exactly looking like he’d be passed there. Plus he jumped one very badly. Suppose he did have race fitness on his side though. Wouldn’t be interested in either for this at all.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 5, 2019 at 09:54 #1447596No, I don’t think the the old Slevdog would want another go at that. Lovely bit of Galway Hurdle mark protection. Really wasn’t in his interests to be winning last night.
