Accidental Agent has been retired before. Came back after he was showing a love for running at home – (I believe) leading the young horses up the gallops. Connections thought he wanted to race again.

November 18, 2024 at 16:36 #1713195Summerghand retired. What a great servant he’s been. Sprint division won’t seem the same without him but he owes nobody anything.

November 18, 2024 at 17:08 #1713198I thought that too but doesn’t seem so Moehat. He’s been given to his groom Janna Walsh to retrain, maybe for showjumping.

November 18, 2024 at 21:33 #1713255That’s disappointing news VF. Is there an injury? If not LDV surely had more improvement to come at four. However, much like City Of Troy he was probably hyped up into something he (at least as a 3 year old) wasn’t. eg His form didn’t warrant being ante-post favourite for the Arc… And if horses are generally thought better than the ability they’ve actually shown, then the risk of keeping it in training (and damaging its reputation) is often too much for connections to withstand.

November 22, 2024 at 12:52 #1713515That seems rather premature to me as she is still only 6 and it is not as if she has had a series of below par runs to warrant this decision being made.
She made a mistake and lost her backend 2 out when coming to win the Mares race at Wetherby on Charlie Hall day and was pulled up, which was the 1st time in her 12 lifetime starts where she finished out of the 1st 4.
November 24, 2024 at 13:10 #171390215,000 people stayed for 2 hours after the last race in Tokyo for Auguste Rodin and they played Auld Lang Syne. That’s a proper retirement party!
November 24, 2024 at 13:16 #1713903That’s lovely greenasgrass.
Al Dancer has also been retired after picking up a small injury during his Badger Beer win.
Wishing all the recent retirees very long and contented retirements
November 24, 2024 at 20:08 #1713967Heard that he had been retired and wondered if it was injury related. Hope it’s a long retirement

November 24, 2024 at 23:28 #1713980What a way to go out Al Dancer was poetry in motion last time out at Wincanton.
Shame that he picked up a small injury but now has plenty of time to recover and enjoy a long and happy retirement.
