Ed Dunlop said a few times that Snow Fairy would be at her peak leading up to the race, and after losing to Midday both he and Frankie mentioned that she’d come on for the run.
That’s true Pres, but wouldn’t it be great if us punters could see beforehand that this big girl was bang on her right/ideal racing weight?

It reminded me of last year when she ran in Hong Kong – how big she was!
Compared to the two four year old gals in the field ‘Stace’ & ‘Regg’ she dwarfed them…
and to think that they were/had to concede weight!
A four yr old ‘Vision’ was only 3 heavier than her the year before – when he won!
September 22, 2011 at 20:32 #371696Listen, Ritchie, if I hear Aidan O’Brien say "listen" one more time, listen, I’ll take that mobile phone that’s clamped to his ear and, listen, I don’t know what I’ll do, Ritchie, to be sure. Listen, he’s in a good form, so he is. Listen, and so am I, Ritchie.

Round
" if taken in conjunction with his other comments (about how well he now settles) – is sending out a warning – that he is now complete!

The real deal, a marvel of perfection… & "ready" to take on the world! Not long now…
Here’s hoping that we do see something special (from whomever is able to produce) as the Arc needs livening up, for various reasons… small field no ‘Pour Moi’ – though should ‘So You Think’ turn up we’ll have another sub plot of –
The Revenge Of Workforce
‘!!
What a race…

Listen, absolutely.
September 23, 2011 at 00:34 #371718Listen, absolutely, this horse has alot of class. You could go down in trip with him or you could step him up.
Q)
Could he go for the velka pedubka?
Ans)
Ah,sure listen all those races are possible, sure he has a lot of class, you could do anything with him
Q)
could he run in the july cup?
Ans)
he stays well, but listen, he also has a lot of speed too, he can cruise, we’ll just have to get home and talk about where we want to go next with him in the future, all those races are possibles at this stage
Q)
Do you think he will come on for the run
Ans)
Ah sure naturally thats what you would be hoping for, that each run would bring them on a bit more and they’d go on from there, we didn’t do much with him at home after X and listen you’d expect him to have a blow afterwards, sure listen we’ll go home and go from there.
I’m aware there are occasions when a trainer might come out with the odd nugget but the form book and video analysis rewards you so much more than listening to garbage like what they often come out with in my opinion
September 23, 2011 at 06:50 #371720SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM AIDAN O’BRIEN VIA LISTENING POST TO RISHI PERSAD
Listen, Ritchie, I’ve been listening to what you’ve all been saying on the Racing Forum and, listen, I promise that, listen, I will listen to you all. Listen, I will listen, so I will — listen, I mean it. Listen, when I speak to Ritchie on the BBC at Ascot next month, listen, I promise not to say "listen" ever again. Listen, I can’t be fairer than that.
Listen, Joseph sends his regards. Listen, any chance of a discount on my mobile phone tariff? My ear’s killing me — listen, it really is. Listen, we’ll go home and see where we go with the mobile phone.A.O’Brien (Mr)
Listen, I might change my mind, so I might, over not saying "listen". Listen, we’ll look at the options and go from there.
September 23, 2011 at 12:52 #371750Aidan is probably the greatest trainer flat and NH in Europe. So lets back off and zero in on Sir Henry for a while who is sooooo cute and his roses are wonderful and mumbles like Lester and is sooooo humble. My God he can’t even find a place to hide. Then we can go on to the cricket player with the bag of money.
September 23, 2011 at 16:55 #371766"Umm, thanks, umm, for giving me, Sir Henry, the chance to, umm, have my say. Umm, that was good, umm, wasn’t it? Umm, what do you think? Umm, I take special, umm, lessons to get my, umm, head lolling on, umm, one side all the time. It, umm, looks good though, doesn’t it? Don’t you, um, agree? What do you, ummmm, think?"
It always makes me laugh how Sir Henry always looks so reluctant to give interviews on the TV. Mike Cattermole and co must dread having to interview him, especially as it’s like pulling teeth getting anything out of him, although they always pretend it’s one of the great pleasures of life dragging a few stuttering quotes out of him.
Sir Henry always looks bored stiff being quizzed by TV and I don’t like his faintly unco-operative, dismissive attitude, as though it’s all too much trouble. I know he plays up to his so-called shy and diffident nature but there’s still no need to be sarcastic and awkward with TV interviewers.
Great to see his resurgence in fortunes, though. I used to like him and Steve Cauthen in the good old days.October 3, 2011 at 21:35 #372889I have to agree, both that AOB is a very able trainer, and that his non-quotes are a waste of everybody’s time! I actually have the feeling he’s getting worse at the talking but telling you absolutely nothing, I don’t THINK he used to be quite so bland? I find Paul Nicholls is a bit the same way but not quite in AOB’s league.
The frequent ‘listen’ is just a turn of phrase – a lot of Australians do it too.
Huge contrast with John Gosden, wo seems much more candid, and at the end I usually find I feel I know more than I did at the start of the interview with him!
So please tell me – WHO is Aidan O’Brien talking to all the time? And why? Don’t they have eyes/TV? The apparent extent seems excessive. Still seemed to do it at big meetings when all the big partners seemed to be there? Why not actually speak to them? Or is he talking to a shrink to calm his nerves? Or recording his instant impressions??! or his bookie?

Joseph O’Brien looked to possibly suffer from the same affliction on Sunday… walking round behind the stalls before the Arc, he appeared to be muttering covertly into his goggles… so did he have an earpiece? Microphone? Or just talking to himself… Hmmm.. The cameras stayed on him quite a while
October 3, 2011 at 22:49 #372899Listen. Thanks for listening. Listen, I’ll tell Joseph what you said. Listen, he’s a good lad, so he is.
October 9, 2011 at 11:34 #19811With all the nice yearlings going to Sir Henry it looks like Stouty is out and Sir Henry in for the next years racing. Aidan has never had to challenge Sir Henry so that will be interesting.Seems like ,no, it is out for Godolfin.Have they given up?
October 9, 2011 at 21:28 #19816Is it possible to rank the Ballydoyle TYO’s? Some years ago(2) it was possible to follow the good ones. They would follow up one win with another. Cape Blanco,Midas Touch Jan Vermeer and so on. Now I don’t have a clue. One run and they disappear.I believe the best fillies are Maybe,Wading and Kissed. Then after ten runs Homecoming Queen put up a very taking performance under Joseph having been ridden by the other two jockeys in the nine,at least, previous outings.
I am trying to figure it out. When riders are giving an opinion to a trainer about a horse they will normally not be influenced to say something that will get they a ride since they are not jockeys. However at Ballydoyle the morning riders, three at least, have a personal and economic interest in riding the horses which may result in Aidan getting biased information. Does that make sense? Anyhow I read accounts of a horse being a Derby prospect after only one run. In the past the Derby prospect would have three or four runs as a tyo. Not this year. Can you help me get a handle on the Derby prospects and explain why they are such prospects after just one run e.g. Imperial Monarch, Camelot et al.October 9, 2011 at 21:54 #373679Bit shocked WAS not in your top 2yo filly list she be a star at 1m4 next year and beat Coral Wave very easy on debut.
I think Imperial Monarch will be there top 3yo colt next year at a 1m4 he go to France next in the race they won with Recital last year.Camelot is good to.Not comfirmed about Imperial but i feel he turn out to be the best.
October 9, 2011 at 23:38 #373689Thanks will add Was.How do the fillies rate1..2..3..etc?
October 10, 2011 at 11:16 #373723At a 1m next year i think Maybe will be there best
Was the best 3yo at a 1m4 next year with Walding,Kissed next not sure if Maybe will go further than a mile. These are my thoughts i got no idea who they rate as there best.
October 10, 2011 at 16:14 #373799Thanks Darren,for a start…
From the tyo summary thread I have collected the following.
Colts; Apollo,Camelot,Crusade,Imperial Monarch,Nephrite, Power,Reply and Tibet.
Fillies; Homecoming Queen,Maybe,Kissed,Wading and Was.
Now if we could add more and rank them!October 10, 2011 at 20:08 #373908I feel they rank CAMELOT as there number 1 horse look at the price of a maiden win for derby when you consider David Livingston.Placed in a group race and won Beresford. While Camelot has more potential same as Imperial Monarch who i rate very highly
middle distance 3yos next year
1.Camelot
2.Imperial Monarch
3.David LivingstonThis be my guess we need Ruby here we do.
