exactly, im convinced AOB will get the leger this year. but not the irish leg.
August 9, 2010 at 21:35 #311916Do you seriously believe that Magnier would put all his eggs in the BC basket? That with Epsom, Ascot and Goodwood gone we still have half a season to go?York ,Newmarket and that is it.Sure there are races in France the US,Australia HongKong and Japan then we go to the desert. But the British season ends with the Champion Stakes and that is about it. One classic to go and we are finished. How many Group Ones has Coolmore got this year? Hardly enough to keep the wolf from the door.Three horses of quality from such a herd(2 four yod’s and 1 three yo).Hardly impressive.
August 9, 2010 at 23:10 #311930You can’t expect AOB to have a perfect every season. He doesn’t have the firepower this year like he did 2/3 years ago. No Dylan or Duke, no henry or mastercraftsman, no yeats, no soldier, no peeping fawn etc. This year is Hannons year, he arguably has the best horse in training. AOB for 2nd Place F&G. Thats what racing’s all about, competing.
IMO he is still the best trainer in the world though, by a long long way.August 9, 2010 at 23:12 #311931Do you seriously believe that Magnier would put all his eggs in the BC basket? That with Epsom, Ascot and Goodwood gone we still have half a season to go?York ,Newmarket and that is it.Sure there are races in France the US,Australia HongKong and Japan then we go to the desert. You think Coolmore has got it bad. Try Godolphin
August 9, 2010 at 23:24 #311934personally i can see saeed bin suroor getting the sack.
August 10, 2010 at 02:13 #311945DEL_BOY how many seasons does it take to get to here? The three and two year olds in training. The best mares in the world the best studs in the world the best opportunities to get the best breeding in the world.Sorry del_boy this may not be Aidan’s problem but it is certainly Big John’s.Right now it is a perception problem. The way they decided to keep Starspangledbanner in training suggests that have no economic problem. However Derrick and Michael like to have winners at the track and right now they are not happy campers.August 8th was a big improvement. One swallow does not……perhaps it was not a swallow?
August 10, 2010 at 07:50 #311962Jan Vermeer put ME away in the English and Irish Derby’s!
August 10, 2010 at 09:38 #311984I too had high hopes for him following a brilliant TYO career.
August 12, 2010 at 23:17 #15937Today at Leoparstown Colm O’Donoghue riding Fred Archer cut Johanny Murtaghn on Eagle Canyon off. At Galway riding Separate Ways he cut Joseph O’Brien on Lutteral Lady off.On both occasions the horses cut off had a right to the rail to the winning post.Is Colm not supposed to keep a straight line also?Just to add to the confusion in the Juddmont Royal Lodge in September of last year he cut everyone off to win on Joshua Tree and deprived Vale of York (or possibly Mikhail Glinka) of victory.Ballydoyle is a world unto itself but I wonder how this type of race riding is going down there.
August 13, 2010 at 00:09 #312523Maybe colm is riding his own horse to win instead of worrying about anyone else. Chap is riding out of his skin lately and is with a good trainer in Marnane. Great team imo. Pity Dandy Boy didn’t settle.
August 13, 2010 at 01:03 #312528How many teams can he play on?Didn’t answer the question about his riding.Does riding to win justify it,even when riding for Ballydoyle?
August 13, 2010 at 01:16 #312530Are you suggesting he should be riding for the benefit of Ballydoyle when employed by someone else Andy? Fred Archer was always the winner at Leopardstown tonight, despite causing Eagle Canyon to be squeezed up late on.

I know what your real point is (Murtaghs on Eagle Canyon so he should let him win)
Fact is Murtagh cut every horse off in on Starspangledbanner. Colm should get told off by stewards if it was bad, but don’t back Ballydoyle horses on jockey bookings (I’m assuming you backed Eagle Canyon). Seamie was on Fame and Glory in the derby and Mastercraftesman was ridden by Colm as a 2yo. Point is Murtagh don’t always pick the right horse and when he don’t, good old Colm gets the job done.
Anyone else think Joseph would’ve been grounded by Aiden if Beethoven had been caught on the line??? Thought he was taking it a bit easy.
August 13, 2010 at 04:56 #312532Let me try one more time. Do you have a right to take another horses’s ground?Simple as that. When riding Joshua Tree for Ballydoyle in the Juddmonte Royal Lodge last year he,O’Donoghue, took the whole field out.Check out the race and then answer my question.I don’t care who he is riding for. The replies seem to justify Murtagh doing the same thing on Starspangledbanner. I believe Murtagh was wrong. I also thing O’Donoghue is wrong. Simple as that.Anyhow O’Donoghue was not seeking the rail.He was squeezing a horse who already had the rail, in Galway and at Leopardstown. As for the Royal Lodge O’Donoghue seemes not to care who he squeezed out that day. As I said check it out.If I was his retainer I would have questions for him about his riding.Maybe Ballydoyle do not retain him any more.Who knows? You call that type of stuff riding out of his skin?I call it cheating.

Yes he did swerve but it was a 2yr old race as was last night. Joshua Tree was the best horse that day no doubt about that

Murtagh saw a opening but that gap was closed by Colm….in fact i would blame Johnny Murtagh for going for a gap he had no right to. Sheikh Mo owns Fred Archer and Colm is looking for a top Class ride in future when he is not riding for Ballydoyle. He is David Marnane’s stable jockey. And yes Ballydoyle obviously retain him since he is the 2nd jockey to Johnny Murtagh out of Ireland…Seamie Heff is the irish Jockey(but is close to giving up) and Joseph/Levey/Reid/Hunter are apprentices.
August 13, 2010 at 12:29 #312583Do you have a right to take another horses’s ground?
No, but whether you
should
or not is another question.
August 13, 2010 at 13:03 #312592Colm O’Donoghue gets a 1 day ban whilst doing his utmost to win the race, while Johnny Murtagh escapes with a "caution" for not doing his utmost to win a race on the same card when there was a bigger gap to go up the inner of a horse in the same ownership as his mount, Why, than there was on the inner of Fred Archer.
Why indeed.
