If other trainers could afford to do what AOB does I dare say they would. He also has the advantage of alot of these horses being in the same ownership which means they don’t abuse other owner’s or their horses.
A horse can look spot on but next day can have a runny nose or scope badly like Canford Cliffs did and RH and co lost out big time, so it’s not a bad thing from that point of view
Had that been AOB he’d likely have had Paco Boy and Dick Turpin under the same ownership in the race and probably went close to winning it with one of them so he’s hard man to knock from that point of view.
September 30, 2010 at 15:02 #320178Entered in a 1m2 contest at Navan next Wednesday.
September 30, 2010 at 15:35 #320183Very Sneaky by Mr O Brien after Moyglare day.
I stayed back just to watch him after the racecourse rumour went around.
He looked a much finer physical athlete than he did when he worked back in march. He had grown behind and looked a proper horse. In march he looked a bit like the lead pony..he was very small and in hindsight would have saved my a massive loss on the 2000 Guineas but i didn’t use my eyes to evaluate what was in front of me. Instead fell in to the Wonder Horse frame of mind.
September 30, 2010 at 16:48 #320187Has Ballydoyle commented on their plans for him?
October 6, 2010 at 10:56 #321134Entered in the Finale Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
October 6, 2010 at 11:01 #321135Seen he still has him entered along with Cape Blanco and Rip Van Winkle for the Champion Stakes. Should be interesting Sunday!
October 7, 2010 at 06:32 #321279Can Ballydoyle afford for him to lose two in a row. Is he just another Steinbeck?I don’t think so.

Johnny Murtagh is certainly very bullish about his chances on Sunday so I dout if a defeat is on the cards but the betting on the day will tell us more.
He reckons there is a possibility of one more run this season but if not the Champion Stakes anyone any ideas on where?
Can’t be that many races left he could run in.
October 8, 2010 at 12:17 #321389Doesn’t run

I just found it this very second. No real excuse just said he wants to be totally happy withe him before brining him back.
Only thing is he already said he was and Murtagh was saying how well he had worked

Nothing to do with losing a few bob as it’s not enough to worry about but AOB isn’t my idea of the type of image you need at the top of any sport.
Oh how I miss the days of Dr Vincent..he’d have pulled that phone away from his ear and smacked him around the lug with it
October 8, 2010 at 19:41 #321433A little harsh on Aidan. He wears his pin. He does not drink or smoke. He brings his kids everyplace and they are a credit to him. What kind of image is required on the top of the page?He never waves off the press.Always willing to spend time with the reporters. I saw him stop to sign autographs with his kids in tow at the BC. That was as he was going out the gate after a very long day!

But you can’t trust a word the man says. How many horses have been "special" or strongly indicated to have been the best Ballydoyle has had? I’ve lost count. When his horses are going to run in one place they run in another. Nightmare!
October 8, 2010 at 20:50 #321438AOB: "He’s got so much natural speed!"
Cynical Punter: "But he’s a cow. He is an actual, honest to God, actual Bos Primigenius."
AOB: "But he’s got so much natural speed!"And so ad infinitum.
I’m being a bit harsh on the man, of course – just a shame that this season he’s been focusing more on the (admittedly not-too-shabby) RVW, the past it Fame And Glory, the hypemachine that is St Nicholas Abbey* and the really rather pointless Jan Vermeer and not really given the Mile-and-a-half UBERHORSE** Cape Blanco the credit/races he’s deserved.
*Do we honestly think that we’ll see SNA on the track again, or will he be packed off to stud where he’ll be able to put his So Much Natural Speed to good use? Personally, I’d like to see him stop running in the bumpers and do some hurdling

**That’s UBERHORSE over 10 furlongs, of course.

So don't run, just like the others always do
October 8, 2010 at 20:54 #321440"…and pace!" fivelongdays, don’t forget that!

Also Class, of course.
Question is with their Natural Speed, Pace and Class, why do so many of his horses not run in sprints?

When they do they cut up the entire field.
October 8, 2010 at 23:47 #321482Wow do I detect hostility.Don’t you know he has to keep the press at bay.(What does Stouty say, share or volunteer to the public?) Can’t you tell Aidan is putting you on? I guess he should say his horses are no good!Slow, one paced,no change of gears. How about"you can see for yourself how slow they are".At least when he takes in horses they improve. He admitted he got it wrong this year with JanVermeer.Perhaps it would be better if he never spoke to the press. That way he would keep everyone happy.Coolmore depends on him and he should be accountable to the public? If Saeed Bin Suroor’s horses don’t win so what? They don’t need to.Get real.
