Sorry, I just couldn’t help it, and scorpion won yesterday at 14-1 at 1m4f what a weekend….
June 2, 2007 at 16:25 #63287THE WINTER BANKER BET COMES UP TRUMPS,
Your winter banker??
Shurely shome mishtake?
Your sig says:
2007 2000 Guineas Winner – Hamoody (backed at 33s), Derby Winner – Teofilo (backed 25s and doubled with hamoody for fun)
Lol.

June 2, 2007 at 16:25 #63288I hand timed the Derby at 2.34.09. Hand time for the handicap over course and distance was 2.38.69, so they didn’t look to go nearly so good a gallop in the handicap. Quick comparison with the rest of the times suggests that it will be another classic that has produced a fast time.
Mordin however may disgaree.

June 2, 2007 at 16:41 #63290I must have pressed the button too early in all the excitement!
June 2, 2007 at 16:41 #63291The links not been adjusted since last october, had teofilo at 25s, way last summer and as I wasn t backing him at 3s over the winter I was on authorized at 12s and 10s all winter, making teofilo my safety bet, I tipped authorized to everyone I know who bets, and they had £20s, £30s and £40s on it…
Stomach was going like dettoris before the race and was shaking after it, Ive had bigger bets up but never had a buzz like that…
I took some stick on here last year when I tried to drill it into everyone on here that either teofilo or authorized would "almost certainly" win the derby, and that makes it even better…
Brilliant…..
June 2, 2007 at 16:46 #63292Given that you have to react to the stalls opening and then anticipate the finish, I think being just 0.7s off was pretty good :)
Indeed it was. I’d’ve been about four seconds off if I’d tried it lol.
June 2, 2007 at 17:13 #63294It was one hell of a victory, drifted to 3.0 in running for a few seconds as well. Looked the winner 6 out.
June 2, 2007 at 17:20 #63295You just knew the aftertimers (and not even for this race) would come bounding out – well done all those who put up Scorpion, at bigger than SP, after the race.
As for Authorised, I stand fully corrected as to how good he is. That was an extremely impressive performance and you get the feeling there was another gear there had Dettori needed it.
TDK is right, and we need to see how well he does against the older generation, but he looks to be some horse.

Was that the same time you told us that Sergeant Cecil was best at 14f, and that Bulwark was the better horse over 2m+???
Too bad, because it meant you were on record as tipping Toefilo and your claims to the contrary look like aftertiming.
had teofilo at 25s, way last summer and as I wasn t backing him at 3s over the winter I was on authorized at 12s and 10s all winter, making teofilo my safety bet,
So it was a "Safety bet", not a "winter banker".
"Aftertimer", not "tipster".

You obviously didn’t attend the same finishing school as ‘Henry’

June 2, 2007 at 19:56 #63300Well done to both horses, seems you were upstaged by messers Cecil & Dettori.
June 2, 2007 at 20:39 #63301Nice to see Frankie win a Derby – but I think it’s fair to say that nearly any senior jockey would have won on him today.
Let’s get carried away by the horse not the jockey. Authorized looks as good a Detrby winner as we’ve had in recent years – with the potential to be a "superstar" (how I hate that term – but you know what I mean).
June 2, 2007 at 21:15 #63302Just so that I can get this in before he takes on his elders – what has he actually beat? By all accounts beforehand, Aqaleem was a poor horse who’d won a poor trial, none of O’Brien’s 8 were any good – Archipenko was 2nd favourite and he was beaten by the rag Leander!
No, this form is useless. As Derby form always is.
(By the way I have hit the sarcasm font for this post)
