I have to admit to being nonplussed on this thread, such is the dexterity of the English language used by both Billy the Toy Boy and Matron who swings all ways and just grabs at anything that might be passing (Matron has never been fussy and with good reason, he has plenty of fish in Ward 7)…. I’m just surprised at how many of you are bowing to Matrons wishes. I have it on good authority that there are “backhanders” taking place, but it eludes me on how you can do THAT backhanded???… I will work it out, just give me time…. mmmm… doing THAT and backhanded…. no, appears to be a step too far, I will have to study Matrons version of yoga a little differently…. I think that I may have suddenly ended up at the bottom of the class…. you all know what’s going on with Matron, but you’ve left me with guesswork…. it’s OK with you youngsters, you know whats these pair of mmmmm… “friends”…. are up to, but I’m stuck in a quagmire of innocence and wondering what all the fuss is about…. and what the hell is all this rabbiting about Matron’s stash of haemorroid creams, I cant see the significance of Anusol with Bill’s knees….

Sadly he does not understand the thread. DOES ANYONE? Despite that it is good to know you are still well Purwell, at our ages nothing can be taken for granted. Perhaps just like yourself I dropped in and then dipped my toe in the water and have been around for a month.
The idea of making money from the bookies was always a daft concept anyway, if we did they would not be there for long, would they?
I have explained my reasons to play away in sunnier climes throughout the winter, sometimes it works and other times, perhaps not but the challenge is what it is all about, well, for me anyway.

Good morning Purwell….. the idea of systems and tips on here dropped by the wayside a couple of years ago, mostly everybody just goes up to “Lays and Plays”…. there were not many sticking their heads in the doors back then and so interest in this section diminished.
I am hopeful that it can be resurrected again and Bill’s given it a jump start, so all looks pretty good thus far…. Matron has been posting forever and so has VTC and now it’s pleasing to see that Blade Blaster has started another thread, another good sign Purwell. I think that we will start to motor as soon as we put this car into gear, but it is still the holiday season and most sensible fellows are still playing with their Oculus’ if you’ll pardon my expression.
I also hope that we start to move forward soon and I will explain what I am trying to do a bit later, but things will liven up once all the banter is over and done with…. I’ve been missing in action for ages and there is a need to get all the innuendo and double meanings out of the way early, then we might be able to line your pockets with gold…. and then a gain, I might fly away…. but Bill’s ear…..

Nobody has arrived yet, so have taken a quick furkle down under and that can be quite painful if your not gentle doing it.
I am going to find it hard to play the PLACE angle on these Aussie selections, the constant n/runners are causing headaches and it means that I have to go on later in the day, I don’t really want to do that and so I think I’ll leave the Aussie ones to Bill and just play in the UK….. if I can find a way around the problem, I’ll try another time…. so, for today….NE14OZGGS….

I have been AWOL today which has been awful.
Now don’t laugh but I fell out of bed and cracked my head.
Then I fell over outside whilst taking out the rubbish and I hurt all over.
Then on my way to Norfolk I nearly crashed the car. Not a good day, especially with all those 2nds. 5 of them there was, perhaps it was not my day.

Nice one Bill, but you have to just be straight forward with us guys, we’re all friends… so be honest with us… you were p***ed.
Fell outa bed, wasn’t Matron there to save you that embarrassment…. I would have thought that he would have put those baby gates up on the sides of the bed… or perhaps he was still rubbing the cream in when it happened… I am told that when that cream is rubbed in thoroughly, the pain fades, perhaps Matron overdosed???.
Hoping your head and “all over” ( a euphamism for down under???) has caused no real concern and I must congratulate you on finally managing to make me wet myself with laughter….

I really have got to slow down consuming this wobbly water… my knees have gone funny…. but I still can’t put them on the pillow like Bill does, he’s very supple for a guy that’s 4 years older than God.
I had a quick look at the systems section known as Ward 7 for the mentally insane, I tender praise to Matron and VTC for keeping it going…. I wonder if those two have a secret liasson???… dirty gits….. but I like the look of it now, it appears to be livening up a bit with BB and Purwell now posting, dare I even suggest a resurgence in systems, it would be akin to the phoenix rising from the ashes.
It is often thought that “systemites” were a throwback, something from the dark side, but I assure you that we are still here and probably still making more money than the doubters. I’ve been a systems guy for as long as I can remember and I’m still in the “game”, I’m far from a mug at 77 and if you want to earn some money at this game, I would respectfully suggest that you look more closely at systematic betting, whether it be in selections or staking.
This IS the way guys, forget all the paid for tipster crap, get your own systems and reap the rewards…. staking is the key…. I grant you that you need to make sure that the idea is worth looking into and using level stakes as a guide, but once your happy with your selection method, then STAKING is the answer.
OK guys, I’ve said enough and I must admit to having a dram (or two), but I am sober enough to guide you guys in the right direction…. I, along with Billy, Matron, VTC and Blade Blaster to show you the sort of profits that can be achieved by following SYSTEMS….
I am full of hope that more will join in and show that systems do work…. it matters not if you get a losing run of 20, what matters is that you make a profit long term. I only trust my own stuff because I have records, but so do each of you, if you feel that your good enough to “cut the mustard”, now is the time to start.. what do I mean by “good enough”, that’s a personal thing, but myself, I would only look at a 10pt profit per month n average….MrE

An interesting read MrE but isn’t it odd when you refer to us as systemites when all punters are use methods or systems to a regular selection habit.
Even a “pin-sticker” can be referred to as a systemite, what about the chap who dangled his key on a string – Yuri Geller style, he also was applying a method, even those lofty form studying handicaps when use the same method time after time, they may call it a method, which can only be a system under another name.
We are not the swamp dwellers of horse race betting and as you suggest MrE, we may even be superior to the intellectuals of the betting world.
Ward 7 as you like to refer to this place once thrived because of shared knowledge but as you once told me has possibly become a place to proof ideas.
Sadly we all worry that if we have a way of finding winners, system or not, we are unwilling to share for fear of pirates selling on our expertise.
The question remains – where do we go from here?
Me, well I am going to the paracetamol to take away some of the pain derived from my horrible day yesterday.

I think that this here sanitorium will slowly get better as more winners are posted, Blades already off to a flyer and I think we should join him. The only foreseeable problem is my wont to go “walkies” every so often, I have to do that for various reasons. I have no problem sharing my selections and I hope that the profits will increase as the weather relents, we shall see. My daughter is really nailing down on the Australian selections, with a 36pts profit since 11th November and 20pts a month is better than I’m doing, it just makes me very nervous when I see the word “Heavy” in the going…. it can only get better….. please…..

My thoughts indeed MrE, we all have reasons for doing what we choose to do and that word HEAVY is why I play down under during their summer.
I do recall a certain lady, said to be from the Baltic states and for one said to be young, then again they are all young to me these days, however she claimed not to bet on a Saturday, the reason as I understood was the racing to be far too competitive. With 5 of my selections being placed 2nd (Saturday in Australia) I do think it to be a position worthy of consideration, after all I think there was approx. 30 race meetings which IMO is too much for this old brain of mine.

I love the Christmas period very much but each year I am glad when it is over, perhaps as an oldie I prefer a more settled regime.
Be that as it may I hope we all have a very good betting 2020 and take a little extra from the bookies.
At the start of this thread Matron suggested I should also consider the domestic racing, especially the Flat AW venues as I so dislike our winter NH conditions and having given this a little thought perhaps he is right but then comes the problem of how selections are arrived at especially when I am so out of touch. However this is an advantage I have with the Australian racing, I do not have any history/knowledge regarding venues – trainers – jockey’s etc. I have never been able to study form but have relied heavily on tipsters and so with a set of simple rules they either was or not a bet.
As an end of year experiment I have cross referenced the Sporting Life Verdict with Timeform plus market prices just to see if how it goes and to my surprise I have found one at Lingfield today. Let’s see how it pans out.
