You’re probably right looking at the ante-post list, which looks awfully thin behind Shishkin. I think all the talk of him winning multiple Champion Chases and so on looks a bit silly now though – his attitude increasingly something to watch out for I suspect.

Shishkin on the same trajectory as many 2 mile great right now. He’s a horse who finds more and more when he’s asked. He was the same over hurdles and yet he was only in 3rd hear today. If Nico wanted anymore he would have given much much more on top of what was an already impressive win. Nothing anywhere near him in this division
Alteady got Energumene backed for the Marsh but added him here at 12s NRNB as a bit of a shot to nothing. If he wins easily today he’ll shorten, if he doesn’t he might go back up in trip.
Quite right Mike- interested to see what Energumene thinks of having Allmankind toe to toe with him, but I think he’ll be OK. Stays and jumped well at the business end so he should give Shishkin something to think about. Shishkin obviously very classy and his jumping is flashy- but the Mullins horse doesn’t waste any time in the air. He twisted his back end sideways over one or two near the start, which I don’t like, but Shishkin does this more so.
I like Energumene’s jumping better but obviously has it to prove in G1 company at Cheltenham.Will be a completely different experience for him with allmankind going off like the clappers

For those saying Energumene + AMK could potentially murder eachother out in front, it’s worth listening to Townend today- he said he doesn’t consider Energumene one dimensional and he’d have happily taken a lead if something would give him it.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!Ye it was fairly noticeable that despite leading throughout he never flew off in the early days Un De Sceaux-like manner that he’d been compared to.
Allmankind will do the pacesetting but I don’t see Townend being in a rush to have him breathing down his neck throughout.
Energumene broke the clock according to RowleyFile. Shishkin supporters suddenly sweating blood and passing broken glass?
Think Shishkins toughest race to date was the Supreme, and I can’t say pipping Abacadabras has me bowing down too much.
Happy to side with Energumene at the prices. Interested to see if the Mullins nutter who swiped out half the Supreme field turns up too.

His only weakness now is the arrival of another very smart looking horse in Energumene who is completely unexposed and lightly races. Nobody knows his level whereas the majority of the field we have a fair idea about. So, before Energumene, Shishkin’s job looked a lot clearer + easier.
