Fist… I agree that Sizing Europe’s jockey got sucked in by Osana’s early pace last time out, but I dont think we’ll be finding out at this year’s Festival who’s best, Sizing Europe of Captain Cee Bee? After reading the news that Forpaddydeplasterer is lame (Racing Post 10 minutes ago) I feel Sizing will probably be heading for The Champion Chase
February 6, 2010 at 14:18 #274397Captain Cee Bee’s jumping didn’t say Cheltenham to me, he’ll have to get his act together or I fear he’ll end up on the deck in The Arkle
February 6, 2010 at 14:21 #274398I think he jumped better behind the fast pace at Leopardstown, and would expect him to do so again at Cheltenham. Today, I thought his jumping was quite economical, not getting too high over his fences but was safe enough nonetheless.
February 6, 2010 at 14:34 #274400Cheltenhams fences are going to catch the Captain out, particularly on good ground and a right old gallop!
February 6, 2010 at 17:10 #274450I have to laugh at that. This horse is more ground dependant than any horse at the festival. Watch him fly home if it come’s up good.
Also he will have McCoy on board in the Arkle. I trust Tony to have him on a decent stride going into every fence.
Banker Fist? Thats a big change from your arguments with me about 10 or so pages back! I think he was available at 25/1 at the time

In my opinion he lands too steeply to cope with the downhill fences, shame really as I’m pretty sure Sizing Europe will go for the Champion. If that was the case CCB would have only himself to beat
February 6, 2010 at 17:33 #274456Somersby is the only danger to Captain Cee Bee!!

Captain Cee Bee is the only danger to Somersby!!,if he doesn"t start blundering his way round! I will say this- If Somersby and Captain Cee bee jump the last together,i wouldn"t like to bet on who was the quicker up the hill,as they both have engines! If Sizing Europe jumps the last 2 lengths in front of these 2, he will finish 3rd!
February 6, 2010 at 18:51 #274468I’m half thinking of having a sneaky each way bet on Somersby just so I can feel smart when he follows Captain Cee Bee in
February 6, 2010 at 19:22 #274483i think if ccb jumps round he wins, remember a couple of years ago when he hammered binocular(i do i was on hendersons)already on him and riverside theatre.will prob back sommersby on the day(even tho i cant stand richard gere)

With Master Minded back and Kalahari King’s performance today De whatshiname would have to be stone mad to even think QMCC.
I notice my old friend TAPK was quick to come up with the Cheltenham fences will catch CCB out. Do I detect some panic in the ranks?

Quite frankly Somersby wouldn’t have got within 10 lengths of Captain Cee Bee over hurdles and IMO he has even less chance over fences. I think people forget just how much speed he has. When you look back at the Supreme he beat Binocular, Kalahari King, Tranquil Sea, Muirhead, Kyber King, Deep Puple, Sentry Duty and Deep Purple among others. Considering a decision was made there and then to go chasing that was some performance from a horse thought to be a born chaser.
Captain Cee Bee made a bit of hash of the last but your man just wanted to get over it. Perhaps this time he should have asked him up but no doubt he’d be thinking Leopardstown…all turned out well so no harm done.
I’m not in the least bit worried about the Arkle, he’ll win that hands down. I’m already worndering what price I can get for the 2011 QMCC

You remember it? I still have nighmares about it
February 6, 2010 at 19:49 #274491thm just to let you know Somersby clocked 4m 1sec when completing the Supreme Nov hurdle on Gd/Sft ground, your Captain Cee Bee covered the same course in 4m 6sec on officially the same ground, that equates to approx 15 lengths!
Keep studying and you too could be a King! a King Prawn Fist!

No panic old boy,i just hope he gets there! If you were as loyal as me to my horses you would have defineately been on Kalahari King today!

from what i recall it was just ccb and binocular from a long way out,if he’d had to go 5 seconds faster i think he could have.its not always about times
February 6, 2010 at 19:57 #274495No offence but I think the old "if such a horse jumps round he wins" is the most annoying cliche in racing. I’m on Sizing Europe so obviously CCB is a major threat – just let the best horse win.
