Would classic Irish literature be any help? Or Popeye’s girlfriend?

That is absolute gold.
Fantastic stuff.
The presenters’ comments after the race too were brilliant.
Nothing like riding with long stirrups.

Brilliant.
November 22, 2008 at 00:31 #191179"Did you miss the winning post"? ? ?
"No, i just though i would do a salute on the way in".
November 22, 2008 at 00:52 #191186Congratulations, Jeremy.

Just wish I could afford a copy of the annual to present it to you as a prize.

November 22, 2008 at 00:57 #191191Without doubt a contender for the worst ever rider to win a horse race.
Still you have to give him a round of applause though and its always great to see the underdog rise to the top .
The bookies now make him 11-10 to become the new jockey at Ditcheat if Sam Thomas was to have a bad fall at the weekend and 6-5 to become Godolphins new stable jockey.
November 22, 2008 at 02:19 #19121011/10 to take over from Sam Thomas, Horse Wrestler?? That’s value, that is!!
November 22, 2008 at 03:15 #191232That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on a racecourse in a long time – tears are rolling down my face (just like Nick Luck I’d say)!
November 22, 2008 at 04:35 #191263A magnificent display. I loved evey yard after the last. Now if Anthony Knott should get himself a decent agent, he could well be the next Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards.

Is the legendary Duke of Albuquerque a contender too?
He rode with a bust shoulder and spent 3 days in a coma after the National and still came back for more.
November 22, 2008 at 06:27 #191276Mr Knott does a better John Wayne than John Wayne.
Waving to the crowd?… I could have sworn I heard a few cracks.
November 22, 2008 at 06:57 #191279Just watched the whole thing with the sound on this time

I agree with Mr Knott when he said the horse helped him out alot.
November 23, 2008 at 16:19 #191512RFI comments- priceless!
"….who was last seen pulling up on his chasing debut over 3m2f, could be given a chance on his bumper win over the useful Psychomodo a long time ago, but there was nothing inrecent efforts to suggest he was about to win, even in this race. Given an ‘agricultural’ ride by his amateur jockey up the home straight, he got on top after the last and was edging clear before Mr Knott decided to wave to the crowd just over 100 yards out, something that punters who were on him probably could have done without seeing. Luckily for the jockey, who had not looked behind him, nothing was catching him quickly enough and he won with a bit in hand. However, it did not go unnoticed that he was giving his mount some reminders down the shoulder late on, for which he received a 7-day ban. That said, it was a momentous day in the life of the rider (it was his first winner after 28 years of trying) and it was great to see such pleasure taken in winning a race."

Little honour in victory for me there, Colin – I had more tries at getting it right than owd Quixall!

November 24, 2008 at 04:56 #191654It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in racing, lit up a really dull day for me, overjoyed for the guy. Great coverage by RUK too.
