This must be the first time I’ve disagreed with you TAPK, I couldn’t back CT for the Gold Cup even if you gave me a free bet, simply lacks the class for such a race IMO. I’m a bit surprised you’ve brought age into the equation, Kauto Star was winning at Haydock at a grand old age as did Hello Bud at Aintree. IC is all class and the master will have him ready for the big one trust me,yesterday was a marvellous comeback run and if he hadn’t have gone hell for leather round the first mile he’d probably have won. I’ve snaffled both the 50s and the 25s on offer and can’t wait for him to serve it up to the young pretenders come March!
Where you can throw the stats book out of the window Rich is the fact we’ve seen horses half the age of the ‘Commander’ with twice as much mileage so I’ll give you the age thing.I love the horse,I had a£100 win bet on him on course yesterday, had I been at home I’d have backed
Cape Tribulation
in running mind but thats racing,I am a great one for visual form and am pretty confident that Malcolm Jeffersons charge has turned a corner,he’s a changed horse recently and a major player imo.Good Luck with the ‘Old Boy’ he owes me nothing but I saw enough to tell me that he wont be reversing yesterdays form in March!
Olas I believe whatever Gigginstown run in this years Ryanair wins, simple as that.I dont fancy the joint favs
Cue Card
and
Flemenstar
.Obviously should
Albertas Run
turn up then I’ll be cheering him home for sure.I still haven’t forgiven ‘Riverside Theatre’ for mugging my 2 last year…
Medermit
at 20/1 and
Albertas Run
at 16/1!!
January 27, 2013 at 22:52 #427764Rich: I’m a massive fan of twisters and always have been but I cannot have Imperial Commander winning, you should pick up the Place part of your bets but the young guns will have the legs of him, good luck though as I like the yard
January 27, 2013 at 23:13 #427766Perhaps it’s a little sentimental I grant you, but I would like to think connections would have retired him after the injuries and setbacks, it speaks volumes that they’ve brought him back considering he owes them nothing. His fire must still be burning bright and on better ground he will not only reverse firm with CT but be bang there with the chief protagonists. I’m still keen on Tidal Bay and Silviniaco Conti mind you, but at 50/1 my old boy was well worth a few quid each way.

Having gone through the Albert Bartlett this morning I can see Rebecca Curtis aiming
At Fishers Cross
for it,I think after Saturdays performance any notion of being a well handicapped player in the Pertemps/Coral Cup at the Festival have gone out the window, this fellow marked himself down as a Grade 1 performer and I can visualise a repeat visit back to the winners enclosure come March,I dont think he’ll run in the Neptune as he is a Staying chaser in the making……….What price the 2014 RSA??
At Fishers Cross
£150 e/w 6/1 Ladbrokes Albert Bartlett.
£12633
January 28, 2013 at 13:55 #427789Careful Gord, that’s 3 you’ve backed in the Gold Cup now….you’re sounding more and more like that Ginger fella next door!
In all seriousness i give this Cape Tribulation every chance on yestersays showing. The 33’s won’t be around for too long!
33/1 won’t be around too much longer with both Gord and myself tipping it.

As you know Olas, Gord and I agree on everything.
We’ve both backed Darlan, First lieutenent, Cape Tribulation and now At Fishers Cross as well. They say great minds think alike!
So why am I thinking the same way as Gord?
Value Is EverythingJanuary 28, 2013 at 14:12 #427791Without meaning to bum-lick but the most easily-profitable method in horse racing is surely to copy both of your bets, even more so when both of your selections corroborate. I might just not bother trying to pick jump winners any more lol.

Ben,its common knowledge on here that when I’m off exploring the Jungle that is Ante-Post,I often come back with a creature so unexposed that its not even been named! I’ll watch this creature develop over the years as I’m steering my Wagon through unchartered waters, waters where only the brave intrepid leaders have trod. Its been known on a Dark night lit only by moon and them flys with there A*ses alight that a Ginger haired creature has sneaked a ride on my Wagon of horses pulling me through said Jungle and has stolen my work as his own.One rainy evening around a Camp fire near
Cape Tribulation
Ginge made a pass at me when suggesting
My Tent or Yours
? I responded
Darlan
I’ll keep my
First Lieutenant
in me pants thanks!Of course when I’ve confronted the beast with Ginger bits hangin off it,it suggests Great minds think alike.
January 28, 2013 at 15:56 #427797Nah, it’s not that surprising. We both know how course form effects results at the Festival, which is no doubt why we’ve independently come up with so many of the same ante-post bets.
Gord is well known for licking his own, the amount of telling us how well he’s done in the past… Past being the opperative word.
So I wouldn’t give him too many compliments Ben, it’ll only go to his derrierre.Sorry Gord, I am not interested in riding up Brokeback Mountain with you. Am afraid only the fillies interest. Heard

January 28, 2013 at 23:52 #427845Gord a few questions for you just to say i liked the pics i did
If SIMONSIG wins the arkle and NH says after the race he take on SS in following year Queen mother. it be like Denman vs Kauto for gold cup so who you think would win. i think my SIMONSIG would see off SS at 2ms on Cheltenham 2014 it be there first meeting there
And gord i know you like golf just put up second winner of the season with Woods winning at 7/1 would of won more in a double with Garcia but he lost by a shot gutted.Watch out for Rickie Fowler over the next month he played well this week apart from one bad round
and as you know i spot potential horses well there are a few young golfers to look out for. Luke Guthrie and Harris English hope you look at my general sports thread in that forum it is.Any other golf fans on here too.January 29, 2013 at 09:31 #427857Gord a few questions for you just to say i liked the pics i did

Sprinter Sacre
all I can say is I was touched,it took me back to a cold winters day in Cologne Cathedral when The Pope touched me,I was in a queue passing him and for no reason at all he reached out and touched me on the head and gave me a look as if to say "You are Special" Incredible really as I was only in there to see the remnants of where a Lancaster had dropped its load! Anyway as my Knights will tell you on a Racecourse they call me ‘Heineken’ as I reach the parts others cant reach and all I’ll say is Nicky Henderson has 3 of the best potential Chasers in his yard he’s ever had,I’m saying no more on that,Oh and it would appear that not everyone in the yard reckons
Darlan
is the certainty for the Champion hurdle I think he is!
As for Betting on Golf,I learned the day I started playing it that
Golfers have ‘Off days’ too, they are contractually signed up to play certain tournaments some of which may not be termed suitable for one reason or another so missing the cut gets them home early! I love playing a 4 ball with guys that can hit a ball and are full of confidence, its amazing how as soon as I up the stakes to say only a Tenner a hole they completely crumble!
Golf is a sport where Mental strength far outways Physical strength and for the non-gambling mind to be put under that sort of pressure causes them huge anxiety, you see 12" putts missed that would normally be a gimmee!!
Nick Watneys
time will come!
A Golfer learns to relax the moment he’s won his first Million and the Gas bills sorted, thats when you see strokes of genius, when you are playing just to keep your tour card, thats when the pressures on and only the best survive!January 29, 2013 at 15:49 #427895Gord i am a fan of Nick Watney i had him at 66/1 to win Barclays last year and 16/1 to win Cimb classic. In the Cimb he made lots of birdies on last day to win think it was 9 birdies on last day.
I do not do ante post on golf i wait and see untill a few days before it starts. My golf bets for this week be in my thread tomorrow they will.
January 30, 2013 at 10:38 #427969Good bit of thinking by Paul Webber, trainer of a horse I’d describe as a major 2nd row player in my Cheltenham Armoury by sharpening
Cantlow
up for a tilt at a good prize by running him over hurdles,he’s sitting lovely off 143 at the moment for a race like the ‘Festival chase’ or he’d get the full 12 stone in the ‘Centenary’,either way he’s in my team!
January 30, 2013 at 18:30 #428003Gord though main bets for National are PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE 25/1
and ON HIS OWN 20/1 i think your old friend MANGAMINTY 40/1 be trained for race now confirmed in weekender this morning. and a bigger price a horse who i won a lot of money on in paddy power chase CROSS APPEAL was 16/1 AP for race a few years ago won at 7s. and is 100/1 for glory at Aintree any big price bets from you any thoughts on this too.January 30, 2013 at 21:21 #428015Darren I’ve said it many times before but if ever there was a horse tailor made for the Grand National its
Albertas Run
,he’d positively skip round on Good Ground, granted somewhere around 11-7 and I’d be delighted.I can see Jon-jo running him too now he’s turned 12yo.It would be some Hurrah to go out like that,Ryanair first then straight to Aintree!
Guaranteed Ginge will put him up now!Albertas Run
£50 e/w 50/1 Hills Grand National
£12733
January 30, 2013 at 21:27 #428016Great minds think alike, I’ve just this second posted my fancies for the GN in the big races section and the old boy Albertas was one of them! His owner sure does love a winner at Aintree, and if McCoy is able to ride it wouldn’t harm his chances at all.
Swing Bill, Imperial Commander and Calgary Bay complete my famous four at this early stage.
January 31, 2013 at 21:50 #428083So, we are now creeping into February and the festival really is not that far away now! The weather really has caused all sorts of problems this year, i’m struggling to think of a season where so many meetings have been cancelled.
Anyway this obviousely makes things difficult in terms of gettings horses fit and raring to go! Each to thier own i spose. Smoe perfer to get a run in between Christmas and march, others appear to get the work done at home.
In terms of your Antepost bets Gord, have you any concerns in regards to lack of runs. There are two that stick out for me, Boston Bob and of course your Champion fancy Darlan.
Willie likes to keep us guessing but having backed Boston Bob i really would have like to see another run before the festival, surely this is getting a bit tight now?! His jumping to my eye was impressive last time but surely another run would have enchanced his chances!
Darlan’s season has been all over the place. Are you concerned that Doncaster is abit of a second thought / last minute panic Gord?
