Its a well known fact that
Mon Mome
gets pulled up more times on Heavy going than he completes but in what is a very average looking Coral Welsh National he has 2 bits of form thats head and shoulders above the remainder…………A Grand National victory and a 3rd place in the Gold cup itself but he’s a 13yo now and there’s no way a horse that age can turn back time,80’s on the machine is tempting against this lot and 50/1 on the High st is still big,its just a shame the ground resembles a ploughed field! One who wont mind conditions though and is still fairly treated is last years Midlands National winner
Master Overseer
,if he gets his own way and thats basically being right up there from the off he’ll make them all go,if he isn’t he’ll chuck the towel in,on this ground he could well get a soft lead and I’ll be jumping every fence with him.At 16/1 he is a solid e/w bet for me.The ‘Dark horse’ in the race is the fav,he is the scopiest in the field but at 3/1 I’m not totally convinced this is his race.Good Luck though darren!

January 6, 2013 at 19:11 #425539TAPK: I guess you will be paying ttention to one tomorrow
January 6, 2013 at 21:31 #425549Gord did you see replay of RULE THE WORLD yet
I watched the replay earlier Darren and my first thoughts were…’He’s the new
Sir des Champs
!!

Not bad judges are we Darren!
that post was from October last year by the way,not after todays romp eh Darren!
By the way I cheered your horse home……..
Teaforthree

Sorry Gary Give me a clue? Bloody unlucky with your horse yesterday mate too……I backed what looked like a plodder as usual in ‘Poet’,I wont be in any hurry again mind!
January 7, 2013 at 14:09 #425592I’ll be dissapointed if my ‘Centenary’ horse doesn’t hack up today at Taunton,JP’s not purchased this 8yo for nothing and I believe he’s being plotted for this race at the festival, nows the time to take the 12’s as he’ll be cut just for the sake of it later today.

January 7, 2013 at 14:32 #425594I love a bit of ‘Cat and Mouse’ and Mr Morris has certainly thrown a few crumbs from the table for us to pick at this morning when stating that
Rule the World
might miss Cheltenham for Punchestown, now everybody knows the only festival that really matters is the one held at Prestbury park and its not everyday you have a horse good enough not only to run there but one who actually will win if he does turn up.I saw enough on his hurdles debut back in October to instantly describe him as the new
Sir des Champs
,unfortunately I never took the 85’s and 80’s available back then but I’m happy to take the 12/1 now as not only did he confirm his promise,he’s improved at a rapid rate of knots….And will continue to when he sees a fence. The ‘Neptune’ is the only race I can see ‘Rule the world’ being targeted for and am happy to stand by my belief that ‘The Mouse’ will get the cheese,I’m sure he targeted one for it a couple of years ago…..The name escapes me!

Rule the World
£150 e/w 12/1 Bet365 ‘Neptune’ Cheltenham.

January 7, 2013 at 14:32 #425595Being a serious Market follower, paricularly during the build up to the big races I see ‘Oddschecker’ has turned
First Lieutenant
‘Blue’ for the Gold cup,I like to see spells of money for horses for particular races it often reflects sources money so I’m following them in today on a horse those who read my drivel (Quote ‘Reet hard’ bless him) know I’ve followed religiously in
First Lieutenant
,its going to be one of those Will he wont he run as he’s also well touted for the Ryanair but I like to stick by my guns with one in the chamber rather than just being trigger happy and unleashing the whole magazine!!

First Lieutenant
£100 e/w 12/1 Betfred Gold Cup Cheltenham.

January 7, 2013 at 14:39 #425596Keeping an eye on a few of JP’s Gord.
I’ll bet Get Me Out Of Here for Coral Cup, or Pertemps, whenever it’s priced up. Already bet him for World Hurdle @ 90’s to 120’s, but do think he’ll probably take handicap route.
Looking at
Plan A
for something at the festival, they ain’t tried a leg with him yet. I’m thinking Grand Annual for him. Another I think worth keeping an eye on, is
Prince of Pirates
. Could be a possible Kim Muir horse????
As for
Alderwood
god only knows, but sure he’ll be worth keeping an eye on.
Interesting run from
Get Back In Line
yesterday, think they’ll have a bit of fun with him in the next coupla seasons.

Love that saying, its a Scottish phrase for sure VTC as my dear Late Father would use it virtually every time one of his ran!!
I wouldn’t touch that bloody ‘Plan A’ with your money mate,he’s a jibber imo and for a mere 6yo he’s sure ran a few times!
Good Luck with him mate!January 7, 2013 at 19:27 #425615Good that i put horse up then for your thoughts in October. because if i did not it not be in your thread my old china
i think he win neptune tooJust noticed lots off betting markets for all the big handicaps any thoughts on them apart from Cantlow who you put in earlier.
January 7, 2013 at 19:45 #425617I was merely referring to Cantlow mate, happy enough with that run

I have thoughts on virtually all of them Darren,my Cheltenham portfolio is still based around 2 horses though, the same 2 horses I’ve been wafflin on about for nearly a year now……
Darlan
and
First Lieutenant
,both are doing everything I expected but I’m well aware ‘Hurricane Fly’ and ‘Sir des Champs’ are no push overs either. As for
Cantlow
,his hurdles form alone makes him a Cheltenham ‘Centenary’ player, his 3rd to ‘Cape Tribulation’ last year reads well,I’d describe his jumping as ‘Careful’ today GDC!
January 7, 2013 at 20:43 #425623Hey Gord,
Question. The centenery has an upper BHA mark limit of 140, isn’t cantlow already in excess of that mark now?January 7, 2013 at 20:58 #425624Hey Gord,
Question. The centenery has an upper BHA mark limit of 140, isn’t cantlow already in excess of that mark now?Absolutely ‘Milbear0’,isn’t your name Gord too by the way? (Testing my memory here). The ‘Centenary’ is tailor made for this fellow, his current mark of 140 gets him top weight but he’ll be raised a couple more after today.’Hunt Ball’ got in last year off 142 and made a mockery of the handicap not that I’m suggesting
Cantlow
will do the same, its just that the ‘Centenary’ is for those not good enough for the ‘Jewson’ and ‘Cantlow’ fits the bill imo.Obviously if he goes out and wins again its the Festival chase for him and I’m stuffed!
January 7, 2013 at 21:35 #425632Good luck then. Rob, btw
