Cheers, have already backed Dubara Reef EW at 16s but as it was Graham who got me the tickets i will back his only ride of the night on course
May 8, 2012 at 18:23 #403570Gord i am sticking with one of my horses to follow in Chester cup would of been Gulf Of Naples got a bad draw so am with.ETERNAL HEART
Any thoughts on the other races i think TAX FREE can run well and
O’Brein can have a few winners in the maiden and BETTERBETTERBETTER.May 8, 2012 at 19:09 #403575Roger Charlton runs Rosslyn Castle in the closing handicap tomorrow. After winning at Windsor he suggested it was worth a handicap rating of 90ish, he gets in here on 87 but is drawn somewhere in Wales. He is up against plenty of other unexposed types although it is just a question of which one the handicapper has got it most wrong with.
Whether Shubaat is quite as much of a certainty as Anak Pekan was in 2004 I’m not sure but I daresay Mr Varian was on the phone to John Gosden to encourage him to withdraw Zuider Zee. He’ll probably be 4/1 at the off.
May 9, 2012 at 07:41 #403611TAPK: Cheers for Minister!! Graham was told the horse was fit but they believed the fav would beat them! Got 5s so bottled it and went EW!!
On the way in collecting my badges the man in front was Robin Bastiman, asked him how Borderlesscot was doing after the injury last season and he said fine but wont be the same horse. Wished him well and he stepped off he said you might want to have a few quid EW on ours tonight though! Went and won at 8s, always happy when that happens.
Saying that the rest of the evening was a disaster but 2 winners from that dire card isn’t bad at all

Have had to back Gulf of Naples today as the lad i know who rides out regularly at Johnstons says they fancy it big time now that the ground will stop the favoured horses!
May 9, 2012 at 08:04 #403615GDC,it wasn’t a case of how much I fancied the winner it was more about how I didn’t fancy the fav, giving the runner-up 11lb was no mean feat though and I felt Grahams strength would suit a staying type and No I never had a bet!

O’Brein can have a few winners in the maiden and BETTERBETTERBETTER.‘Gulf of Naples’ cant win from there darren!!,or can he?? This
Shubaat
looks like he’s got everything in his favour, the only thing I see beating him is his jockeys inexperience around there,he’ll have to jostle for his place and hold it.What I will say though is because the ground is so soft the pace wont be hectic and that will allow the horses who love to get their toe in a chance to finish so the draw might just not be so significant this year,I’ll bet 2 of the first 4 home are drawn higher than 10.

Tax Free
would be a certainty from box 1 on good ground but he hates to get his feet wet,his class should still see him in the 3 though!
The Cheshire Oaks goes toCubanita
for me,I of course was at Nottingham when she won her maiden in the style of a stayer and there was good money for her that day,I liked her attitude, got a bit of grit this gal! Good luck darren!
May 9, 2012 at 13:54 #403637An outsider I am also considering is Ile De Re from the Ian Williams yard who often gets a winner in these long races
TAPK: Put this up as part of my initial reply and got 28s to a tenner EW BUT when did this horse move from Ian Williams to McCain’s yard? I am positive it was with Williams initially!! I am guessing they are going jumping but Iam Williams has jumpers too!
Great run from OVERTURN, what a horse he is
May 9, 2012 at 14:18 #403641You probably do not remember but on your other thread I put up a sprinter I was going to follow this season and back Derby Day for the Dash. Horses name
May 9, 2012 at 15:49 #403660Well done today GDC,
Confessional
is a horse I know well,he ran a blinder in the Dash and has done against the likes of ‘Hoof It’,I had him down as a bit of a seconditis sufferer but he got his due rewards today! As for the Chester Cup,What a Joke of a race,’Gulf of Naples’ was about the only horse to stand where his draw should have been, had ‘Overturn’ stood where he should have he wouldn’t have featured had everything started at the same time but No they give him an easy lead particularly the O Brien horse,at least 8-10 lengths!
Around Chester you must be joking!Had the stalls been used Box 8 would have opened a good second in front of the others for ‘Overturn’ to do what he did and yet not a dickey bird from the Stewards.Void all Bets
!!
May 9, 2012 at 17:12 #403668As i am doing this message ARVIKA LIGEOONEIRE race is about to start what you think of this horse Gord. i thought a few years ago he win the arkle tons of potential as a chaser but been off for 2 years.Hope he wins in style.
May 9, 2012 at 17:14 #403669Gord what you think of racing today my only winner was in the maiden with FATHER OF SCIENCE. i think he wants further not saying he is a group horse yet but may do well as year goes on.
May 10, 2012 at 09:51 #403741Darren,I will be avoiding Chester like the Plague today, after yesterdays fiasco in the Chester Cup it only confirms to me that its a racecourse (I use the term loosely) to avoid! In this day and age it never ceases to amaze me how prehistoric certain aspects of the sport really are! Starting Stalls that get stuck in the mud Ffs,even worse a starting gate that needs a bloody wrench to open it,there should be a quick release system not that in
Gray Pearls
case it would have made any difference sadly! As for starters themselves the amount of false starts we get these days is a Joke, one could argue yesterdays start to the Chester cup was just that! Good luck if you are playing mate but I think I’ll Plaster a ceiling instead!
May 10, 2012 at 09:56 #403744TAPK:
He has to shortish ones that are strongly fancied in Gabriel and Marcret but I am chancing a couple of longer priced ones.135: Although not having won over the distance
415: I like
May 10, 2012 at 13:33 #403770That’s a good enough start but did not back him singularly. Hope the good Dr gets at least a double today!
May 10, 2012 at 17:06 #403790Gord what you think of FATHER OF SCIENCE would not shock me if he was a ebor horse.O’Brein ran Chamgingoftheguard in this maiden a few years ago when behind Harbinger.I think he be a good horse this year.
May 10, 2012 at 19:50 #403806Yes darren I got the impression
Father of science
loved the ground and I noted his very round action,an Ebor type very possibly as I certainly didn’t see any classic aspirations from that performance.
Talking of which I have spotted this years St Leger winner already inModel Pupil
he was the only horse I fancied today and should have won.
I have always rated John Francomes opinions on everything Horseracing related but recently he’s been talking through his Ar*e,I’m sure he says things just to antagonise Jim Mcgrath who incidentally is as spineless as a Jellyfish when it comes to enforcing ones views,Johnny defending the O’Briens onSt Nicholas abbeys
pathetic performance the other day only confirms he has total disregard for times and ratings,Jimbo ‘could’ have easily put him right but as per usual sits back and closes his eyes pulls a smug look and moves on.Today Francome suggests the 2 favourites for the Chester Vase stood out from the others on looks and yet both ‘Model Pupil’ and ‘Mickdaam’ were two very imposing individuals to look at and both proved better than Johns 2,I’m just getting the feeling Francomes losing interest in his role and doesn’t take nor put the time in to his role like he used to and its beginning to tell, shame as Johnnys anecdotes and humourous observations have been his trademark.
May 10, 2012 at 20:14 #403810In my opinion John has never had much idea about form and he’ll always defend jockeys rides, being an ex-jockey. When he first started I remember Jim constantly contradicted Francome, it’s obvious he’s not allowed to these days.
