Its well documented I’m on
Camelot
big time at 6/1,I’m just as confident about this fellows chances as
Jonibake was about Frankel
last year, but I’m putting a horse up I have high expectations for this year in
Bronterre
,trouble is every year this race throws a top class sprinter and it could well be him, obviously Richard Hughes has deserted him but doing that could well be the reason why he’s been 40/1,anyway SkyBet are playing to 4 places and I’m convinced this fellow could place as I like the look of the Dewhurst as a trial for this.
Power
would make up my 3.
Bronterre
£50 e/w 28/1 Skybet 4 places
£1750May 5, 2012 at 13:13 #403138I’m sure you haven’t forgotten your Age Of Aquarius being touched off by Rite Of Passage two years ago, if that one get’s back on track for the race he’s the one to be on at 8/1 imo. The fact that he’s had his problems is a worry though!
Agreed Tommy,he outbattled my fellow for 2 grand and that hurt as much as him not running in the Leger! Ouch! I liked the way Frankie knew how much horse he had under him at Kempton and literally toyed with ‘Red Cadeaux’ he strikes me as a Stayer who can quicken!
(Colour Vision)
that is!
May 5, 2012 at 13:17 #403140Your loyalty is commendable, but this Fury has been raised 6lbs since the start of the season without winning. Last time out he looked to have every chance and he either ran out of steam or ducked the issue.
Fury
is a progressive sort Eclipse,he’ll carry the weight No problem and he’ll get the trip stood on his head, its just a case of there being a well handicapped ‘Dark horse’ in the race, possibly Cumanis, either way a repeat of both the Lincoln and spring Cup runs sees the Grey placed again for sure.
Fury
£200 e/w 5/1 Bet365 2,0pm Newmarket.
That ground is not soft!
Fury
just wont let himself down on anything less than proper soft ground, that was far more ‘Lincoln’ like than ‘Spring Cup’ slightly dissapointed in not giving almost a stone away!

£1700May 5, 2012 at 17:57 #403176Well done gord had BTS 50/1 to win i did
Hope now CAMELOT wins the derby at 25/1 to win or IMPERIAL MONARCH to win be happy then
Then in the last today Archbishop got nugged on the line gutted.

The Rowley Mile is rarely genuinely soft. It just drains too well because it is a chalk base. The Summer Course is a different matter. However the times indicate it is as slow as its likely to be today. Dead ground probably describes it best. Fury probably needs to run a few times on unsuitable going to get back down to a winning mark in the autumn.
Great result with Camelot to finish your other thread.

On the whole I’m right more times than I’m wrong when assessing a
horse Eclipse,regardingFury
i’m afraid the Jurys out,I haven’t lost a penny on him but I was dissapointed with todays effort even accounting for the weight of 9-10.The same can be said for
Camelot
,I honestly expected a steering job,I thought he would be held up but not quite as far back as he was and I visualised everything done on the bridle,a case of point and steer…………That didn’t happen but he showed a battling quality,’Montjeus’ are not famous for on ground that definately didn’t suit,he floats across good ground! 5/4fav for the Derby? No thanks,he’s done what I spent all winter dreaming about but it was close to being a nightmare.Fair play to him if he wins The Derby but I’m sticking with
Parish Hall
at 20/1,he’ll give him a fright!
May 6, 2012 at 14:00 #403258A couple of Loyalty cards being played today at Newmarket both outsiders but you never know at this game.
Lilys Angel
deserves her place in the 1000gns and on a line through ‘Discourse’ has a sneaky chance of a place at 66/1.
Victoire de Lyphar
has had his problems particularly mouth ulcers but he is running off a mark he can win off today,he’s had his pipeopener and if this ‘Seal rock’ beats him I’ll be dissapointed!

Lilys Angel
£25 e/w 66/1 Bet365 1000gns.
Victoire de Lyphar

£1950May 6, 2012 at 18:43 #403311Gord what your thoughts on the beaten horses in both of the guineas which ones you see progressing as the season goes on.
I was happy with THE FUGUE today but read she got struck into hope she be ok.

Good question darren as I rate the 2000gns as a race highly every year, particularly for finding future winners. The 6th 9th and 15th placed horses all caught my eye.
Fencing
ran a very credible 6th,I cant believe whoever the RP analysis race reader thought he ‘weakened entering final furlong’ was as he was watching a different race to me!
‘Fencing’ stayed on for sure and granted good ground in the future will certainly make his mark in a Group 1 mile,(Ascot QE11) without ‘Frankel’ obviously!Casper Netscher
had speed to burn and has ‘July Cup’ written all over him, then there’s
Bronterre
,never put in the race at any time and again looks a sprinter to me. I never gave
Abtaal
a chance and why he went off 2nd fav amazed me,he reminds me physically of another short front legged horse of Sheikh Hamdens in ‘Awzaan’.
As for the 1000gns I cant believe connections of
Homecoming Queen
didn’t know she was a 10 length better filly than ‘Maybe’,the way she was ridden (to orders no doubt) suggests to me she has been trailblazing at home.Ryan Moore riding was a tip in itself but her form to date suggested she was a stone behind that performance,as for the others nothing caught my eye.I had a small interest in
Wading
Ante-Post and never had anymore interest than that really! Dissapointing lot imo darren.
May 7, 2012 at 17:35 #403430Gord on page 117 on your old thread i put up 6 irish trained horses to follow that not trained by AOB.
CALL TO BATTLE was 2nd in Ballysax and will improve again next time out may be at Chester.
PARISH HALL.Who i see you like for the derby now
TAKAR.This is the horse i like the most as you saw today 7f not the best trip for him.But he got a heck of engine on him and when you consider he hated the ground today wants it fast.If none of the placed horses from Newmarket turn up i expect him to be fav for irish 2000 guineas. and i think he win it.Looks the best 3yo british miler.
May 7, 2012 at 20:47 #403473I keep my eyes on all your selections darren and will continue to do so including the above, your
The Fugue
wont let you down this season either as a 4th in the 1000 gns bodes well for further improvement when stepped up in trip! I see my old pal
Overturn
gets box 8 in the Chester Cup,No chance I’m afraid! Frankie in box 6 on
Never Can Tell
,has to go off fav now!
May 8, 2012 at 08:19 #403523TAPK: Off to Catterick again this evening. DIRE is not the word but a night at the races is far better than ‘soaps’ indoors with the missus

Anything worth a ‘shekel’ or 2? Cheers
Ever Roses in the last and Klynch in 710 are my 2

Not a chance on a soft surface Gord.
Shubaat should go off favourite, although whether he will or not depends on if punters will be put off by being ridden by an apprentice.Value Is EverythingMay 8, 2012 at 11:38 #403533Never Can Tell

Shubaat
is one of only a couple of horses who will actually love the ground,so long as his apprentice can ride round a circle he is the one to beat now,I certainly didn’t see him getting in to be honest but i’ve taken 13/2 on the machine to cover my now hopeless chance on
Never Can Tell
.
Again I didn’t expect a bloody inch of rain to fall and ruin the meeting, its a nightmare at Chester on Good ground,I doubt I’ll have 3 bets at the meeting! Roll on York I await withBated Breath
.

You’ll be hoping the weather improves then Gord. Although I do think there’s more of a chance Bated Breath acts on soft ground than connections give him credit for.

Only horse that catches my eye there tonight GDC is
Ministerofinterior
in the 7,40pm, 4/1 seems about right and Graham Lee should be able to steer him to victory! I wouldn’t touch the fav at 9/4 either!
