Of course, shame I was too confident and backed Cappa Bleu win only. But then again, had I done so probably would not have come up with the winner Auroras Encore, another win only bet @ 119/1.

That is fantastic tipping Ginge,I cant believe you only backed 2 horses though and as for doing ‘Cappa Bleu’ Win only, poor show, you should have been collecting good e/w money for his gallant 2nd place!

True I did not back just two Gord, also backed the 3rd Teaforthree @ 20/1 antepost from 7 Main bets (incl. 1 DNR) plus 3 partial savers. 10 in all.
At least I am improving on 15 bets (incl. 1st, 2nd and 4th) last year Gord.

The biggest priced individual winner I’ve ever backed! 119/1

Ginge I tip my Crown to you for putting up
Auroras Encore
at 119/1,you didn’t just blend it in with all your other bets but you did an accurate write up of the horse on your thread and I congratulate you for that, well spotted! Listen to this for a true story then……My 4yo daughter loves the Disney Princesses and her favourite is Aurora so my Missus tells me to stick her a Tenner on at 80/1 with Ladbrokes on you know who!
I had completely forgotten the horse had run a blinder in last years Scottish National and instantly dismissed it,whilst the Missus was doing some sewing I spread the National Colours out on the floor and said to little un which horses colours do you like and she pointed out ‘Mumbles Head’ because of the Pink and Purple of Princess bloody Auroras dress so I stuck her a Tenner on that instead!!
Of course you can imagine how the race unfolded as my Missus says "Did you put Belle a bet on ‘Auroras Encore’? as the bloody thing is creeping into the race.’No its got No chance’ I replied unconvincingly.Well all I’ll say is I’ve been sleeping in the Spare room since!!
April 8, 2013 at 22:30 #435835Well time will tell. Did you see
Moth
today? Seriously impressive and is going to be supplemented for the 1,000 Guineas. In a wide open race she could be a player with that turn of foot. 14’s generally available.
A very powerful looking kick from Moth there but I suspect she beat trees on this occasion. Fat Boy put up a pound overweight on her and although it didn’t matter in that company I would like to see him on the weight-watchers soup up until Newmarket. With that said I think she is worth a few quid at 14/1, with nothing really laying down a marker of any real merit and the first two in the betting going to the race without a prep run. I have a big feeling Certify will be a bust this year and my kiss of death voucher on Just The Judge at 20/1 leaves it ripe for something else to pick up the honours.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Well if money talks your filly is home and hosed Steve, nothing has been supported consistently like
Just the Judge
and word has it that its all Newbury Money, there’s plenty Lads at Hendersons on her at double figures any way! Good Luck.
April 9, 2013 at 15:21 #435861County Carlow maybe the smallest county in Ireland but deep in the heart of this historical landscape nestles Glebe House, home of Jim Bolger and stable to the biggest name in Flat racing,
Dawn Approach
,trying to catch a glimpse of this imposing son of ‘New Approach’ is said to be more difficult than spotting an elusive Green Woodpecker. As the Crow flys straight over 8 miles of Irelands beautiful lush greenery from Coolcullen, the sleepy town of Kilkenny arrives and with it the 11th Century Castle, climb to the top armed with a good set of Swarovskis and on a clear day according to local myth a Flying Chestnut can be seen striding across the horizon just as the Sun is rising,a White blaze confirms that a new Dawn Approaches and its going to be a beautiful day!I love Mythology.
April 9, 2013 at 17:27 #435869Gord you still not got a horse for 1000 guineas yet as you know i am on WHAT A NAME and JUST THE JUDGE at decent AP prices.
Any of you guys got bets for the masters here are mine.
JUSTIN ROSE 20/1
CHARL SCHWARTZEL 28/1
DUSTIN JOHNSON 33/1
SERGIO GARCIA 45/1
RUSSEL HENLEY 175/1

RUSSEL HENLEY 175/1I’ll be backing Tiger in running at hopefully double figures before he leads on the final day.Golf is all about Natural ability and having the confidence in just that.Tiger has always had the former and now he has the latter again, thats a potent combination.Rory knows exactly what it takes too and at 10/1 is the danger.Nick Watney needs to show that he is a Major player,he’s borderline but needs to show it.As for a Brit winning……….There’s more chance of The Stranglers playing a Gig for Chemical Ali!!
April 9, 2013 at 20:04 #435886Cristoforo Colombo
20’s on the machine for the 2000gns is not what I want to be seeing!

Like I’ve said before, until I hear it from connections I dont believe a thing I haven’t seen with my own eyes.
Cristoforo Colombo
is this years
Money
horse,he’s been heavily backed and he’s undoubtedly been supported with stable money. What triggered that massive drift last week is baffling as many a time the machine is like a fly on the wall of a Trainers office.Whatever caused ‘Cristoforo’ to go out to 20’s has only allowed me to top up on the 33/1 I took last year and I’m still supporting him now at 11’s and 12’s,he will by the end of the week be where he should be and thats around the 7/1 mark.If
Dawn Approach
and
Cristoforo Colombo
both line up in this years Guineas its a 2 horse race and I’ve said that since last Summer.TAPK will question his lofty title if neither should win!!
April 9, 2013 at 20:51 #435889I’m usually down at Nottingham for their opening flat season meeting, highlight being the ‘Further Flight’ stakes but work commitments see me building a Porch.I still expect the tough and progressive
Sir Graham Wade
to justify his 6/4 fav price tag though, being a Mark Johnston trained horse I’ll take his fitness as being ‘ready’ to win.
April 9, 2013 at 21:11 #435892Hey Gordon. I came on to check out TRF, so you just know i had to check out the world famous TAPK as standard. Come on man, what else can a gambling brother do about this bitch than to give high fives and dabs to the one and only King ? i ain’t been on for a minute, but you will probably remember me as a contributor. It’s only right i make this post on the eve of Augusta. I mean it’s all about Gordon and Tiger, two people who are finally back on top of their game, two unrepentant shaggers and two people who tell porkies. Oh, and i know you play golf. All jokes aside mate, good luck for the new season, genuinely. On the guineas, i’m not looking past Bolgers. I recall you sitting on 16s like a Los Angeles hip hop artist sits on big chrome wheels, and in my opinion there isn’t much to worry about there. Good luck.
April 9, 2013 at 21:30 #435898Graham are you P*ssed? I remember the stick you used to give me under your
Goldikova
banner, you kinda grew on me for some strange reason, perhaps its the Scottish blood thing.I’ve not seen you on here for sometime hope all is well up there in Glasgow and hope you find time to contribute a bit more, you always could put your point of view across in your own inimitable way!

I had a couple of Leffes, but not what i would qualify as pissed. I mean, look at my post i didn’t even edit. I’ve been on the machine fighting and mixing it, so that’s that and it is what it is Gordon, i put my money up and my words down. I’ve had more bad luck this season than i have the other 6 combined. I look on the psychological bright side though, i mean i lost a few quid but at the end of the day the study of races and fight and all that racing talk took my mind of life, so that in itself was worth it. Damage of losing money equals perspective against the damage of thinking about reality equals i didnt lose, not really. As for that Scottish thing, come on man. My skin is thicker than the bible, you know that. I come from a place and family where the more you like someone, the more you give them stick. A mild thought of mine is that the closer you are to someone, the more you can fight and banter with them. I mean, i bet you Mrs TAPK gives you a right earful and you laugh, but when someone else gets gubby you let is slide knowing they shop for 44 inch black blets in a charity shop, and you keep it schtum because your a black belts in the martial arts shop and they aint related to you.
April 9, 2013 at 22:14 #435903You should start your own thread ‘Lone Wolf’,trust me it would be well recieved,I like your prose, you write like a troubled soul,I sense a soul feeling let down by his Bible the Formbook. When we put our trust in something with such reverance and it turns on you like a Lone wolf hungry and lost alone in the wilderness you can understand why we become cynical, misplaced trust is a harsh lesson we learn as the Formbook is not Gospel! You will survive as the New Dawn approaches in what is Man against the Machine!

Try as I might I can’t see past Tiger this year. He is in awesome form and seems to have rediscovered his mojo which is bad news for everyone. I will get stuck into the 9-2. My only other bet will be on Keegan Bradley.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"

You’re dafter than me, and you’re better at it ! ….i’m not too bothered about losing on the punting front. It’s just the way it is mate. You’ve got the whole perspective thing yourself, so you know the dissapointing part in losing is because we think about our bets more because we back them well in advance. Any luck at all would have helped, but it wasn’t to be. I might take your advice and do some sort of thread for the flats. I’ll only do one if i’m going tea-total and i feel as if i can contribute a winner or two. I’ve not been thinking about the flats apart from the 2000 guineas. I like Dawn Approach for that, and tried to throw him into an accumulator which didn’t work out, so unfortunately it’s just a race to watch. I’ll make it as quick as possible, i don’t think he has a great deal to beat. You get what, a couple of real good milers at tops out of a guineas ? …i’m struggling to see anything else. All roads lead to him. As for the 1000, i don’t have a clue. I mean, look at the form and prices of the recent winners. If i was being econmical with my ten bob i’d give it a swerve, which i am at the moment. At the time of making this post, i see it as a race to pick one each way at double figures closer to the race, if at all.April 10, 2013 at 19:53 #435973Well I picked 3 horses I would have backed at Nottingham races today had I been there and all 3 lost, kinda glad I was working.I cant say I’m over enthused about the flat again this year but we’ll see how things progress once the Classic trials start.I’m often asked If I think
Dawn Approach
will get a 11/2m and whether he’s a Derby horse like his Dad,my answer is simple,he was bred to win the 2000 gns and to avenge his Fathers defeat anything he does after that is a bonus.I believe once he’s won the Guineas he will run at Epsom as its a reliable trial for the Blue riband of flat racing,I do believe he will get the trip even though his pedigree says No chance as he’s only just getting into top gear over a mile.
