This little nugget from Elliot was interesting:
“I thought one down at the bottom with 10st 6lb could be very well handicapped, a horse called Milan Native. He has had a wind operation since his last run and he is one I am looking forward to for the Grand National this year.”
February 17, 2021 at 09:41 #1523376I backed Milan Native start of the season, then cashed out after the latest disappointing run. Going there straight after a wind op apparently. If you back him you are guessing the wind op has had a big transformation.

February 17, 2021 at 13:38 #1523400I saw the interview. I didn’t think Gordon Elliott was that enthusiastic about any of his tbh, a lot of talk about Tiger Roll then he was scrambling through his notes saying 10 6 was a nice weight for Milan Native and the wind op mention. Then again he could be keeping his cards close to his chest. Not for me either way, too much of an unknown and I didn’t like his last couple of runs.

Rummy, Betfair Sportsbook are offering non-runner money back on the GN
February 17, 2021 at 18:39 #1523443O’Leary revealed Champagne Classic and Run Wild Fred would be aimed at the Fairyhouse equivalent instead. He said: “Champagne Classic has come back after leg trouble and he’ll just about make an Irish National. He won’t make Aintree as he’d need to run beforehand and we just don’t have the time.
February 17, 2021 at 18:49 #1523445More bent than Henderson him, gives me more confidence that. Is that the same O’Leary which said Champagne Classic was the worst horse he has ever trained before he bolted up in the Martin Pipe.
It is tight like, joking aside.Mind you he did actually say that.
February 17, 2021 at 23:13 #1523462Really fancy CLOTH CAP for this, and took the 25’s when official list came out, see VTC ante post bets. DISCORAMA is another one I quite fancy. However I’ve gone over the recent forms and can add. MAGIC OF LIGHT, TAKINGRISKS, MINEACELEBRATION and the much forgot BLAKLION to that list. However over the next few weeks I think others will be added.
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.February 18, 2021 at 17:36 #1523516I have two early bets, but I will definitely have at least one more.
Anibale Fly 40/1
The Jam Man 66/1February 18, 2021 at 23:57 #1523550Anibale Fly an interesting one Autumnal.
He was still in good form when last seen, and given a proper chance by the handicapper. Hopefully he can go well on Saturday.
I thought he might be a possible for The Ultima, for all that tends to be won by less exposed types.
February 20, 2021 at 21:35 #1523893I’ve topped up on Lord Du Mesnil after today’s battling win. Considering he went from having a similarly tough battle in the National Trial last year to finishing a close second in the NH Chase at the Festival next time out; I’m more than confident he won’t be suffering ill effects from today’s run. 40/1 with Bet365 is a pretty mad price that I’m amazed is still available. It’s just a case now of the going not being too quick on the day.
I’m still a bit concerned over the lack of appearance from Bellshill. I don’t like light campaigns for my National horses and I was hoping he’d have had a couple of runs by now. He’s probably being saved for the Premier Chase at Kelso, but all the same I’d have preferred to have seen him get a bit more match practice before the race itself.
I look forward to seeing how Acapella Bourgeois gets on next Saturday and likewise Potter’s Corner at Cheltenham.
February 20, 2021 at 22:13 #1523895Lord Du Mesnil needs a bog. The soft ground at Chepstow in January didn’t look like it was soft enough for him.
I backed him today for a nice little win. Backed for 2 reasons – heavy in the going description. And likes Haydock.February 21, 2021 at 08:32 #1523938Peter I wouldn’t worry too much about bellshill , looking at Thomson,s Twitter he,s getting plenty work esp on the beach , he,ll not lack for fitness , was anyone on empire steel at kelso on Friday , I took 7,s the night before as thought it was far to big in a 3 runner race , £1 on all his chase runners paying £51.38 so far for the season ….
February 23, 2021 at 13:52 #1524731He’s got serious stamina doubts, and he’s not qualified yet, but I added The Long Mile off the back of his entry in The Bobbyjo.
Need him in the first four, but even that’s no a certainty. I’d imagine Anibale Fly will be JP’s priority in this field.
I’m not making much of a case for him, but there were big odds on offer so I took him up to 530’s, as the 40’s NRNB didn’t appeal too much.
The Long Mile 530’s
February 25, 2021 at 10:57 #1525279Well his job has just been made a lot easier with only five lining up on Saturday!
February 25, 2021 at 12:43 #1525289Yeah, can’t complain with that Peter. Too good to be true though, been here before, and there a few scenarios…..
a) Strolls round comfortably and qualifies
b) Fifth
c) Falls when looking like easily qualifying
d) Late Non Runner
e) Abandoned
If I could have a few quid on b, c, d or e, I’d take it lol
February 26, 2021 at 18:12 #1525488It’s been a while since I bet Burrows Saint, and if am being honest about it, he’s disappointed me a little with his hurdle exploits. I’m hoping to see a good deal more from him in The Bobbyjo Chase tomorrow.
