St Barts is missing from your list, Peter. But he was so far down it would have been unrealistic to expect him to make the line up on Grand National day.

Those rated 148 which includes VIEUX LION ROUGE currently occupy places 37 to 40.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Played the e.w on definitely red as if he can put in a decent performance today he,s bound to shorten a bit , can’t help but think Ellison is plotting a similar path as last year , he,s 12 so stats are against him but he,s been a quality horse

I’ve contemplated doing similar, HDLG. He was a big fancy of mine for last year’s race and while his form certainly doesn’t stack up against last year; he’s certainly worth a look at a big price. He and Beware The Bear are two I keep going back to.

Peter he was my main play last year , i reckon he,ll run well today , Aso is short for a horse still to prove he stays the distance and you have to stay it at kelso , I love cloth cap but he,s ground dependant and I reckon he prefs a flat course so two for gold is the most likely winner but he,s running a career high mark , as I’ve said he,s 12 but he,s been a quality horse and nobody needs to teach Ellison how to train a horse , he was bullish as hell after this race last year for the GN , iwas gutted when it was canx

Not a bad run from Definitly Red there. Hasn’t shortened anywhere, but he hasn’t ruled himself out of it either.

Hard to argue Cloth Cap isn’t the rightful favourite now. I was unsure if his Newbury win was a just the product of a dropping mark, but he looked very good here. As low as 6/1 in places now. Tom Scu has ridden a few fancied chances in the National before, but this must be his best chance yet? I won’t be betting him, but I’d be chuffed to see him win a National.

Cloth cap was impressive and he,ll be involved as long as it’s not a slog , def ran ok , he,s lost a bit of zip but still think he has a chance if he goes , he jumped better today esp after the nasty fall last time

Yeah that’s the one thing Cloth Cap might need is genuinely good ground. Hasn’t run badly on soft, but his best form is on good. Will Aintree ever allow proper good ground for the National again? They always seem to aim for a little cut in there.

He,ll get away with normal April ground , he,s never going to get a better chance , he’s in stonking form and has no weight

It was good to soft today. So as long as it don’t rain CC should be ok.

I’ve just seen that Ballyoptic is being sold at the Goffs March Sale. Perhaps Lee Westwood will have a go after his poor luck with Yorkhill and Bellshill? Or will it be the usual David Thompson National purchase? Darren Yates will have Blaklion, so I doubt he’ll go in. Only other one I can think of is maybe Waley-Cohen with Jett not performing at all so far this season?

I wish I could convince my work to fork out the funds!

Bally is perfect for Sandy , I can see more and more owners going to him with horses that seem gone at the game esp after dingo dollar today
