March 20, 2021 at 11:13 #1531469I cashed out my Cabaret Queen bet. I know two and a half miles around Cheltenham off level weights isn’t exactly representative of her chances over four miles around Aintree, but she really didn’t look at all interested. A PU ahead of the National really doesn’t read well. I might go back in if she ends up going here and is something like 150/1 six places in the morning, but until that happens, I’m out.
One I keep finding myself looking at is Bristol Du Mai. I wish he’d had just one more run ahead of this, I hate light campaigns for the National, but I can’t help but see another Many Clouds in him. I don’t know if I want to bet him now or on the day with the extra places. I can’t really see his price contracting too much between now and then.
March 20, 2021 at 11:31 #1531479He,d be the best horse in the race but that’s a load of weight to carry around , also he,s a autumn rather than spring horse , is he not more likely to go for the bowl
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 20, 2021 at 12:21 #1531496I think/thought I read that this is the target, hence why he skipped Cheltenham.
I thought he might be an autumn/winter horse, but the last time he skipped Cheltenham he finished second in the Bowl. I just wonder if he wants a break between his races? His best performances have come after a break, including his Gold Cup third a couple years ago. I certainly don’t buy into him being ground dependant. Are there better handicapped horses in the race? Certainly, but there aren’t many tougher. I can’t make up my mind over him.
March 20, 2021 at 13:14 #1531514I agree he’s best fresh and probably not overly ground dependent. I’m interested. He has carried 11st 7 up the run in at Haydock against G1 opposition plenty of times so 3lb more should be OK – I think he’s one of those to whom weight might be a bit less relevant. It only really starts to tell at the end and if he likes the fences and is feeling happy and well and comes over the last at or near the front I don’t think the weight will matter unless it’s going to be very close anyway.
March 20, 2021 at 13:46 #1531524Magic of Light was my long term fancy for this, but I wasn’t too happy about her run yesterday, but I’ll wait till nearer the time with her.
I know that there’s a chance that he will go for the Irish equivalent, and there’s the 7yo stat to contend with, but the 33-1 for Farclas looks like a big price to me, especially with nrnb available.
March 21, 2021 at 09:42 #1531645Minella Times win @ 33/1 BOG NRNB
Form of his last run is looking very strong now, if he turns up i doubt you will need BOG, should be 20/1 at the most with NRNB.
March 21, 2021 at 09:56 #1531653I got a free bet from Corals and stuck it on Minella Times as well. 40-1 ew. Not NRNB though.
March 21, 2021 at 09:58 #1531654All Jeff, Elliott was concerned about the trip for Farclas. So am I. Why the trainer enters these ‘non stayers’ for this I do not know.
March 21, 2021 at 12:06 #1531694There are always a few entered, and run, that you think the only way that will stay 4 miles plus is in a horse box.
I’ll have a look who turns up and will do my figures after declaration. Not sure there’s an awful lot of mileage in Ante-Post these days as the easier obstacles make it more open. Of course, someone will land one and prove me wrong!
