I so want to bet Native River for this but his owners really don’t like the race and i don’t think he’ll run. Such a shame that the best jumper in training won’t run in a race that is tailor-made for him due to unfounded safety concerns. He’d be out in front anyway!

    I’ve had two early bets.

Kimberlite Candy at 40-1 ew 5 pls, and also Burrow Saint 25-1 for the win.

TYT I’ve been making the he same point for ages regarding Native , can’t see him being competitive in a GC unless the ground was bad

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026

Been doing some early work on this and one that I’ve come down on that I quite like at a big price is Fitzhenry for JP. If it wasn’t for COVID, and not being sure he’s being aimed at the race let alone knowing he’d get in anyway, I’d put some money down!

Any Second Now back out today over hurdles at Naas. Hoping to see some positive signs from him. Still really like him for this.

More than happy with that run on Saturday from Any Second Now.

Got another one in mind now as well, and that’s Brahma Bull, really nice run today at Navan, behind Minella Indo. I’m surprised he’s not quoted, but could see me adding him once he is.

Hmm at least he jumped like a horse not a drunk wildebeeste but all those horses and all those fences? His jumping could disintegrate again. You know I like him but I fear a double page spread photo of absolute carnage at the Canal Turn with the caption “Bull in a china shop”.

An impressive win by CLOTH CAP in the Ladbroke Trophy formerly the Hennessy being Trevor Hemming this race has to be on the agenda but has to go up in the handicap as 136 rating is too low to make the field in modern Nationals, should his Official Rating rise enough he will hold every chance, I think.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Cloth Cap in the end took advantage of being dropped to a winnable mark yesterday. I was hovering over the bet button myself but stuck with the 1 horse in the end. 2 things against him here will be firstly to win off a mark likely to be about 150 and secondly the watering they do to keep the race safe. Good ground is important to this horse.

Cloth Cap hasn’t had as big a hike as I thought. Got 147. 147 for a runaway Hennessy winner. Hmmm. I’ve added him. 25-1.

Just checked my 2021 diary and realised Easter is the first weekend in April and pushes Aintree back by a week.

Might be worth bearing in mind there will be an extra week between Cheltenham and Aintree.

I really had to take a chance on Bellshill after trainers comments today, but that NRNB is crucial, as there must be a good chance he’ll be heading to Ayr, not Aintree.

    Any Second Now 32’s
    Bellshill 40’s NRNB

I’m with you on that one. It’s easy to forget how close he came to winning the Irish National a couple seasons back, so big field handicaps are well within his reach. I’d just like to see a couple of runs beforehand to show his wellbeing. And of course there’s the real possibly he’ll be going to Ayr instead.

Bellshill looked weary at the end of 3 miles 5 and then returned to form when dropped back in trip. Isn’t going up to 4 miles 2 a concern?
