    What a bizarre comment?

    Presenting Percy-Current RSA Champion
    Native River-Current Gold Cup Winner
Clan Des Obeaux-Current king George Winner
Thistlecrack-Ex World Hurdle winner, King George winner and numerous grade 1 winner
Might Bite-Ex RSA and King George winner, last years 2nd in gold cup
    Kemboy-Current Lexus winner
Road To Respect-Ex Lexus winner and multiple grade 1 winner
Sizing John- Ex gold cup winner
Bristol De Mai- Multiple grade 1 winner

Plus grade 1 winning chasers Bellshill, Balko Des Flos

As well as possibly other grade 1 winning chasers who may or may not turn up.

On what basis would this be a weak gold cup if Elegant Escape won it?

Feel free to let the team know.

What hes saying potato is that if EE won almost everything would have to underperform, aka he is not good enough to win a gold cup. So if he did somethings went wrong with everything else.

    So just to clarify
it was definitely going to run in the 4 mile
It definitely wasn’t going to run in the rsa
It had no chance of placing in the RSA
    It was a substandard RSA
It isnt good enough to run in the gold cup
No chance it will run in the gold cup
If it’s a really poor gold cup he may steal 3rd place
If he wins the gold cup it’s one of the worst gold cups of all time.

In one corner we have a man who holds 100% faith. That faith never waivers and he remains always consistent in belief and conviction. He could make excuses or create hiding places but he chooses not to. If the unthinkable happened and EE didnt win the gold cup then I am big enough to say I was wrong. I wont accept the ground as being excuse should EE get beat as I believe he will become the greatest chaser of all time and a great one can still win despite the ground.

In the other corner we have some children who make outlandish statements on what cannot happen yet when it looks like it may happen they consistently change the goalposts in a desperate attempt to save face should it actually happen which they now realise it may.

I make it clear and leave myself nowhere to hide.

The usual suspects keep on making new angles in an attempt to cover themselves and give themselves something to hide behind should EE win.

These types are normal on racing forums.

    WHEN POTATO CAME TO TOWN
THEY ALL ASSUMED THEY WERE DEALING WITH A CLOWN
THE LITTLE GANGS TEAMED UP AND HAD A POP
BUT 18 MONTHS LATER THE SPUDS ON TOP
THEY ALL ASSUMED THE CLOWN WOULD FALL
BUT 2 MONTHS TO GO AND I STILL STAND TALL
THEY SAY THAT ELLY ISNT GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN
4 GOLD CUPS LATER THAT THOUGHTS IN THE BIN
THERES NO NEED TO STOP AND REWIND THE TAPE
THE GOLD CUP WINNER WAS ELEGANT ESCAPE

THE TRAIN REMAINS PERFECTLY ON TRACK
NEXT STOP GOLD CUP WINNERS ENCLOSURE

    IN ELEGANT ESCAPE
    WE TRUST

I agree with Potato, if all those horses turn up and Elegant Escape beats them then we would have to say we all, other than Potato, under-estimated him. It would be very difficult to argue that every other horse under-performed. I think it’s lining up to be one of the strongest Gold Cups in years. I just hope they all turn up (and that Might Bite wins)

“He had just 3 races that season prior to winning the gold cup and his last run before this stunning victory was winning the welsh national carrying a big weight.”

Not quite right, Potato. Master Oats won the Pillar Property Chase (the Cotswold Chase these days) in between his Welsh National and Gold Cup wins.

As always the ground will play a major part. On heavy, EE would have a fine chance. On good not so much. There’ll be nothing in the field with more stamina, but there are horses with the ideal blend of speed and enough stamina to leave him too far behind in the body of the race. On all evidence, EE will be one of the poorest jumpers in the field although he’s been improving on that front so might well put in a better round than any expect.

Potato, you’ll be gearing up for a few rain dances come early March.

I hope that EE runs in the cotswold chase as a final run before the gold cup. It will give him time to freshen up before the festival.
I think one more run would be perfect but Tizzard is currently the greatest trainer of staying chasers in the world so if he is happy with going straight to the gold cup then so am I.

I see no point going to the denman and taking on clan des obeaux and native river before the gold cup but giving definitely red an effortless beating in the cotswold would be worthwhile.

Tizz knows what he is doing though. B-)

Good ground doesnt scare me at all. I would say gd/sft or soft would be perfect but good or heavy are fine. There are two common mistakes people make with this horse:

    1- He is slow.

This isnt true he won the welsh national in the fastest time of the last 7 years.
He has great tactical speed. Yes he is an out and out stayer but he is no tugboat.
In his first run of the season at Sandown it looked certain that he would finish 2nd but a shake of the reins and he absolutely flew past Thomas Patrick, superb turn of foot.
Dont forget he is by Dubai Destination and a half brother to Ibn Khaldoun the group 1 racing post trophy winner. Slow he is not. This is a blatant myth.

    2- He cant jump.

He jumps like a stag. An absolutely brilliant jumper. Most of his mistakes have come when ridden by Cobden. When O Brien rides him he jumps brilliantly.
He has never fell or looked likely to fall.
He has passed the jumping test at Exeter, Sandown, Cheltenham, Newbury, Chepstow, Aintree and Kempton.

An all round superstar, jumps brilliantly, stays all day, great tactical speed. Definitely not ground dependent either.

This horse has developed into AN ABSOLUTE BOSS this season.

The team fear no horse in the gold cup.

THE CREAM WILL RISE TO THE TOP

Also the gold cup is guaranteed to be ran at a fast pace.

Native River will make all and guarantee this is a serious test of stamina. That will set the race up perfectly for EE who is likely to sit about 5 lengths off Native River AMD make his move between the last 2 fences.

You know you are a great when you use a current gold cup winner as your pace maker.

I never said it was a substandard rsa? He only placed because ABP fell potato, he wouldnt even have been in the frame

Was actually a really good rsa IMO, but only the first 3 if you account for ABP standing up

So in Hams wacky world

    Presenting Percy
    Monalee
Al Boum Photo were brilliant in RSA and are the horses to take out of the race but Elegant Escape is not worth noting.

    Yet the following season:

    PP not ran.
Monalee been beaten in both races he ran in.
Al Boum won a listed race over 2m5f

EE won a listed race, 2nd.in the hennessy off a huge weight on bounce run and comfortably won the welsh national carrying 11/8 which is clear gold cup winning form.

But you cant count the form of EE cos he isnt any good。

Ham I must apologize for what I am a about to say but you really are a complete and utter nutjob。

If what your saying about my opinion on the rsa is correct then youv highlighted how poor EE really is if the front 3 are so bad, monalee has ran at a trip too far this season thats obvious, i wouldnt worry about PPs lack of a run quite yet,

He has 14 lengths to find with PP assuming PP doesnt improve a single pound

Also, he beat yala enki by 5 1/4 lengths getting 3lb LTO, are you telling me
Of levels yala enki would have a chance of placing in a gold cup????

    Anyway, im definitely avoiding anymore
On elegant escape before i die a little more inside.

Cant wait for the tizzards to NOT run him…

The Rsa was a race for undeveloped horses learning the game. EE was a year younger than the young guns.

Do you not understand that EE has come of age, grown up developed and progressed? When EE took on the year older PP and Monatree he was a gangly 6yo who hadn’t filled his frame. One year on he is an absolute beast who is improving with every race.

Why are you stuck on one race that happened when EE was an undeveloped kid?

Elegant Escape winning the Welsh national under a huge weight is far stronger form than Presenting Percy beating a dodgy stayer and an undeveloped kid in a novice race You just dont seem to understand this fact.

Clan Des Obeaux was 4th of 5 on his last run as a novice and.one.of the 5 was pulled up.
Obviously he could never win a king george chase.

Native River as a novice was 3rd of 6 in a weatherby novice chase. Only 3 finished and he was beaten by definitely red and Blaklion. Obviously he could never win a gold cup. Imagine what Definitely Red would do to Native River if they actually met in the gold cup.

Kemboy came 2nd to 112 rated sutton place in a fairy house novice last year. He could never win a lexus chase.

112 rated? he’s 155 over hurdles after having a long time off- and has no mark over fences.

    Very talented, very fragile sadly.

I miss your point on this, what would DR do to Native River in a GC?

Also on the RSA, your favourite horse was beaten 7Ls by Monalee, a horse i don’t think stays a true 3miles brilliantly. However, he does seem to have matured this year (EE) showing strong handicap form. Wouldn’t he be a super horse for the National?
