Welsh Grand National winners who carried 11 stone+ with an OR OF 150+ to victory in the last 25 years:
2018 – ELEGANT ESCAPE-11-8/151
2016 – NATIVE RIVER -11-12/155
Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner
2010-SYNCHRONISED -11-6/150
Cheltenham Gold cup winner
2008 – NOTRE PERE- 11-0/152
Never ran at Cheltenham but went on to win the grade 1 3m1f punches town gold cup that season。
1994- MASTER OATS -154-11-6
Cheltenham gold cup winner.
Only 5 horses with a rating of 150+ carried 11stone + to victory in the welsh grand national in the last 25 years. All 3 who ran.in the cheltenham.gold cup won the race and Notre Pere who never came to cheltenham won the grade 1 punches town gold cup that season. Elegant Escape is the 5th and we will see what happens in March.
Halcon Genelardais was the only other horse in last 25 years to carry 11stone+ to victory in the race but it was from a rating of 147. Although he never won a gold cup he ran well and was 4th in a vintage gold cup behind denman,Kauto star and exotic dancer.
The legend Elegant Escape recorded the fastest time in the last 7 years when.winning the welsh national yet amazingly all the winners in that time (bar native river) carried between 10 stone and 10-10.
Trained by the current gold cup winning trainer
To be ridden by a jockey who’s form figures when riding him read 1/1/1/2Yet you can still.get 33/1 on this absolute machine.

January 7, 2019 at 19:06 #1391733Bit early for jefferson to say waiting patiently wont get the gold cup distance, shes as much in the know as she was prior to the king george when they thought he would have… dont get the snap decision to go ryanair (its the right choice i might add he wont get 3m+) based on what they found out in the KG
January 7, 2019 at 19:08 #1391734No I did not say that if Elegant Escape got beat in the RSA that I would never post again. Feel free to research this outlandish claim.

I will never post again after he has won.
All talking is pre race. I won’t say I told you so. I won’t gloat.
Everything that I say pre race I am willing to back up on the racecourse.WHEN HE HAS WON

January 7, 2019 at 20:04 #1391739Joe Tizz on Luck On Sunday: EE will get a Gold Cup entry though on 159 we realise we’ve quite a way to go. He’ll also be entered in the Grand National.
January 7, 2019 at 20:07 #1391740Tizz is such a joker. They know full well this horse is the gold cup king.
January 7, 2019 at 21:37 #1391749Trainer Colin Tizzard has indicated the seven-year-old, yet to win in six previous attempts at Grade One level, will have a short break before joining stablemates Thistlecrack and reigning Gold Cup winner Native River in the highlight the Cheltenham Festival on March 15.
Tizzard said: “Elegant Escape is now rated 159 and is only about 7lb away from being a Gold Cup horse. He might make a Grand National horse as well, because he is a tough stayer.
“We’ve just got to sit and think about it – but the fact is he has won at Sandown, won a Welsh National by outstaying them all and was second in a Ladbrokes Trophy, where he was the only one really finishing that day.”
Initial entries for the Gold Cup will be published this week.
Tizzard added: “I think his next race will be the Gold Cup, because he has had three hard races and we are only around two months away from the Gold Cup. If he had only had one run, we would have gone again. ”

Its official. The Legends next race is the gold cup. He will not have another race and is now being prepared and targeted for gold cup glory on March 15th.
January 8, 2019 at 07:15 #1391778If ever anyone needed evidence that the word ‘legend’ has been butchered and overused, read no further than the above post. I take what I said back, you are annoying.
January 8, 2019 at 07:47 #1391779Bellshill e/w 20s NRNB is the bet here lads
January 8, 2019 at 21:39 #1391848I like that bet MoM but can’t see where he is NRNB at 20s. I called into Hills on the way home from work tonight but alas the shop was shut at 8 rather than the internet advertised time of 9.30 so missed it. If 20s still available will go back tomorrow, if they have adjusted down in line with the other big firms I will take what I can…might take some 16s NRNB with b365 tonight anyway.
My own fault for not getting on with it earlier…I’ve liked the horse since last year!!
January 9, 2019 at 02:50 #1391869Just to play devil’s advocate Potato, EE has never won at Cheltenham and has never won a grade 1 event. He was 14 lengths behind Presenting Percy.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.January 9, 2019 at 08:26 #1391871You don’t need to tip toe around Potato (a sentence never previously said ever) Red Rum 77. EE is 33/1 for a reason. Of course he goes there with a chance, but there are 10 grade 1 winners and 6 festival winners ahead of EE in the market and i’d side with most of them before EE.
January 9, 2019 at 09:22 #1391875To be fair Charlie, I was as keen as Potato seems to be about Silver Buck back in 82. Although I remember that he seemed to start his races at odds on, and here he was at decent odds (8/1). To me young and impressible at the time odds on said he had a touch of class. The main hope of the day was Night Nurse.
