I’m more than happy with the 14s I took with AMERICAN 6 weeks back,
but I’m not going to take the chance of missing out twice with COGRY. I’d
followed him and put him up for just about all the decent chases he’s been entered in
over the past couple of years, but left him alone on his return at Cheltenham last time
out
That was a sinking feeling I don’t want to experience again, and as he
looked as good as he ever has last time out I’m taking the last remaining 25s with
Boylesports. I don’t think he will win, I’m very keen on AMERICAN to manage that, but I’m
not taking the chance and I think he’s very decent E/W value at those odds. I’m not looking
for much, I’ll settle for the forecast
November 28, 2017 at 02:45 #1329155I’d settle for either the pair of them Graham, though the weather forecast worries me a little for American.
November 28, 2017 at 02:49 #1329156here’s mine…
American Win 16’s
Cogry EW 33’s
Double Ross EW 40’sHope you win, though preferably not with Coneygree lol
November 28, 2017 at 02:56 #1329157Thanks Homer. Double Ross has been a regular of mine for the last 3, 4 years, love him to bits, and he’s made me a right few quid over that period. One of those horses who’re continually underrated, and can easily see him making the frame again. Had him 240’s, 250’s last year, and got him in a few bets ew last year up to 125’s, it was some buzz with him. Fingers crossed.
I know where you’re coming from with Regal Encore. He pulled up in this last year, so I’ll probably swerve him here, but I’ve bet him for The Becher, and The Welsh National.
November 28, 2017 at 08:38 #1329163A few like Present Man here. My big concern for him is if they have totally ironed out his jumping. He has not run at a left handed track since he won at Doncaster last year. That day he jumped markedly to his right despite winning.
November 28, 2017 at 10:31 #1329175My 3 for the race are…
Total Recall. 8-1. Mullins.
Present Man, 20-1. Nicholls.
Vyta Du Roc 20-1. Henderson.
I predict either or both of American and Genie In A Bottle come out if, as is forecast, the ground continues to dry out.

This freakishly dry weather is like a double barrel shotgun to the nads. These are my two plays for this!

Somebody somewhere make it rain!
November 28, 2017 at 11:38 #1329185You might have to borrow Meydan’s cloudseeding machine Boz!
November 28, 2017 at 11:57 #1329187Have the same concerns regarding American, although I’m confident my second play on SFP is ok with no rain. American would suit my pocket better mind.
Although SFP would suit my TTF much better !!
November 28, 2017 at 12:11 #1329189What odds we could get it moved to North Wales this year? I’m pretty sure even the main road in Llandudno would have ‘heavy’ in the going description
November 28, 2017 at 13:48 #1329211Praying for rain to help my early selections (American, Coneygree, Cogry) but it’s looking like a done deal we’re in for a good ground Hennessy – sorry, Ladbrokes Trophy.
Not sure who’s really going to be the big benefiter here, it might prove easier for the stalkers to make ground late on. I’m sure Whisper fans are happy, or maybe they aren’t as it might make the Bradstocks pull Coneygree out and the Henderson horse will end up shouldering top weight.
November 28, 2017 at 13:55 #1329212NTD said Cogry prefers better ground at the Ladbrokes Trophy lunch.
November 28, 2017 at 13:56 #1329213Gd/sft will be perfect for Coneygree Charles! As long as there’s that little bit of ease he’ll be sound…isn’t it a common misconception that the softer the better? The two real blots on his record have both come where the word good wasn’t in the going description…his best performances for me have been on gd/sft..
If he gets into the rythmn and jump like we know he can there’s no dangers…you only need look at the last decade of winners to see that…horses up the top end of the handicap…Denman, Smad Place, Many Clouds, Native River, Diamond Harry (10st I know) etc…all big, strong galloping types…4 of those didn’t manage to win a gold cup either…
The race is tailor made for him…for me there is only Whisper to worry about…be interesting to see how much rope Russell gives Nico out in front…
Can see a Smad Place type demolition job..
November 28, 2017 at 14:40 #1329223..if retaining his ability/fitness. I can see your way of thinking regarding past winners Zam but he’s too big a risk for my liking. Wouldn’t mind eating my words though as he’d be a massively popular winner.
November 28, 2017 at 18:15 #1329254Nooo! Travelling oop north Saturday afternoon; will miss the race and no catchup there. One of my favourite races…
November 28, 2017 at 18:33 #1329258I’ve had Coneygree at 20s. This race seems to be won by a horse relatively exposed, although you could argue that Coneygree is slightly well-in if he’s at his best. However, I had a dream last night Coneygree was pulled and Royal Vacation won the race!
November 28, 2017 at 22:17 #1329281On form Total Recall looks value at around 5/1, but am concerned there might be a Sizing John moment if there’s no more rain.
