I’m happy with American and Vyta Du Roc, but I still have that worry about the ground for American. If he is pulled, then I would definitely be with Whisper here, I think he has a great chance

Looks wide open and an exciting Hennessy is in prospect. On the prevailing ground I’ll take a shot on Singlefarmpayment to win and Royal Vacation each way.

I am happy with my picks and having backed Whisper at 8/1 to join em I think I pretty much have it covered LOL Fanous last words.

Alan King did not exactly inspire me with confidence on TV today (Friday) saying that LDO probably has four or five pounds too much to win this

I went today (back again tomorrow) and it was absolutely freezing, especially out around the parade ring where there is no cover from the wind so if I recommend one thing it’s to dress up warmly.

As for the ground, well I think it’s fairly good to soft on the chase course and should fall into the realms of ‘no excuses’ territory.

Thanks for that Charles, at least it gives me some hope that AMERICAN might take his chance. Enjoy
yourself tomorrow, and wrap up well. It sounds like when I was at Cheltenham on Gold Cup day this year,
I’ve never felt so cold in my life, it was absolutely perishing. I’ll be digging out my longjohns for
next year, just in case

Unoriginal but feel that total recall has the least question marks around him and the vibes coming out of the stable are ominous :good:

Not a great renewal. Easy to envisage American cruising into contention in the last half mile and winning by three or four. I think Vyta Du Roc could improve on last seasons performance, where he was given a mediocre ride by Tom O’Brien
Present Man not out of it and neither is Cogry.

Thought it was quite a good renewal myself

    Coneygree @ 23.0

Surely overpriced and a leap of faith required. If he was that gone at the game surely they would of retired him, and if anywhere near his best would carry these. Two from two at Newbury also.

I don’t fancy the fav Total Recall in terms of form and especially looking at these stats for WP Mullins in UK only races from 2000 to now at ISP £1 level stakes.

I backed Missed Approach a few weeks ago at 33/1, and can see Ben Linfoot has tipped him up this morning. I don’t think he’s necessarily good enough to win, but has stamina in abundance and should be staying on at the end when others have cried enough so quietly confident of a place. His form at Newbury is pretty good as was his 2nd in the 4 miler – he’s a bit hit and miss but has the services of Richard Johnson to steer him in first time blinkers.

I’ve also bet American as part of a Lucky 15 with Charli Parcs, Bishop Road and O’Maonlai – I think the horse is either the type to go and murder them all or tamely fold away, can’t see any inbetween so have gone for a win bet. I’m a bit concerned about Fry persistently calling the horse fragile, not the best comment in the world but he is immensely talented and could be a Gold Cup horse come March.

I’m also inclined to add some small eachway bets on Coneygree, Cogry and A Genie in a Bottle, as all have good profiles for the race in different ways. I agree that it may not be the best quality field, but a very interesting and competitive renewal of the race.

Happy with my Total Recall 8s, Vyta
Du Roc 20s, Present Man 20s bets.
Anything can win it really whichever line of form you follow.
Surprised there hasn’t been more money for Present Man considering it’s a 150 horse running off 142.

With the ground it’s going to suit those that don’t want it bottomless.
Horses that fall into ‘the softer the better’ camp unlikely to win this.

Couldn’t resist some 16s 6 places Coneygree. You never know. ;-)
