Awful to see, thoughts with connections,RIP Starchitect
December 16, 2017 at 19:36 #1332506Never been so sad to see a horse I backed win a race. Starchitect came away from that field like a proper horse. He’d had an improving profile and was obviously well on the up. Sickened for connections. Deep commiserations to backers.
December 16, 2017 at 20:08 #1332513That was really awful to watch
RIP
December 16, 2017 at 21:25 #1332529Can I just add that I’m completely gutted by today’s race. Was listening to it live on my mobile and it was described very badly at the time. Later on when I saw the recordings of the race, I still find it unbelievable. A very sad day indeed.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.December 16, 2017 at 23:25 #1332558Recorded the race but deleted it. Absolutely devastated.
RIP Starchitect from what has been written you were on your way to victory when tragedy struck but did hear and take some comfort in the fact that commentators and winning connections gave you the dignity you deserved on this sad day.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 17, 2017 at 00:46 #1332569Brutal.
December 17, 2017 at 09:15 #1332577Horrific.
December 17, 2017 at 14:23 #1332641I was out when the race was on and went to the Jockey Club Replays website to watch it as live. Every other video of the Cheltenham meeting would play but clicking on this race just brought up a still photo.
Once I checked the race result on the Racing Post website and read the race report for Starchitect, I realised why the video would not play.
Glad I didn’t see the race to be honest and it’s absolutely sickening for all involved. No horse should perish like that but sadly it sometimes happens.
I never watched any of the other races and I didn’t even check the results. I watched the Darts instead.
Just one of Racing’s Black Days, there’s no other way to describe it accurately. Stomach wrenching.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
December 18, 2017 at 10:36 #1332775RIP Starchitect, could have gone onto Big races based on how he was hammering these horses at the time. Thoughts are with connections.
Not that I want to fully dissect it, as it was a real tragedy and didn’t have the heart to rewatch it, but what actually happened? At the time, looked as if it was false ground it went over? Broken leg I am assuming.
December 18, 2017 at 10:55 #1332778Yes, you could immediately see the leg was gone; just horrible to watch, and fair dues to the cameraman, who cut away at once. So sad for horse and connections.
