I keep on looking at the form and found it impossible to form a tissue.

Is time catching up with Cue Card?
Is Coneygree really back to his best?
Silviniaco Conti seems on the downgrade? but if the top two are below form could he still win? Does he like being around horses? Seems to run best with a clear view of obsticles.
Seeyouatmidnight is a horse I like and would’ve put him up but the price has gone considering needs to improve enormously if just one of the top three runs to form… And is he as good if taken on for the lead? (Ditto Coneygree).
Was Irish Cavalier flattered by the run of the race at Wetherby? And will he be suited by tomorrow’s test of stamina?
How good is this French thing?

Unless there’s something that catches the eye late this looks a race to watch for me.

Victor is going 20-1 any horse for the Triple Crown. Must be worth a couple of quid for a bit of interest. :good:

Do you need to have a few quid on anything to have an interest in a race as good as this?

I’m quite sure everyone in here will enjoy the race regardless patriot, all botchy is talking about
is a “financial” interest. Absolutely nothing wrong with having an additional financial interest,
unless you don’t like to bet. The 20/1 gives you a double chance, with Coneygree and Cue Card, or maybe
a treble chance if you consider Seeyouatmidnight is up to this. I can’t see any of the others getting
    involved.

Not really. But having even a small novelty bet just makes it a bit more exciting.

It’s not that great a race if you ask me BTW.

Few years ago I had both 12/1 Silviniaco Conti and 40/1 Cue Card to do the double, Botchy (Betfair and King George). CC beat SC in the B and came around the Kempton turn looking all over the winner… before eppiglotis failure! SC beating CC.

Victor closed my account years ago, not that 20/1 appeals, thanks. :good:

Looking forward to the race even without a bet.

Gone for Coneygree not that I think cue cards run last time out was all that bad and he will no doubt come on from it. I think they will have Coneygree fit enough for this and with the ground coming in his favour I’m hoping he burns them all off from the front setting a proper gallop from the off.

It will be interesting to see if Seeyouatmidnight actually tries to head Coneygree. Looking back at his races the only time Coneygree has looked a little unsettled was when headed in the Feltham. Yes, he had company in the Gold Cup but that rival did no more than sit upsides. I know he was placed in a Scottish National but I still want to see Seeyouatmidnight finish off one of these conditions races before completely giving up on the thought that he might be better at a shorter trip.

Can understand anyone thinking Seeyouatmidnight not good enough FULL STOP – for the Betfair.
But if a horse puts up a cracking performance at 4 miles, why would you think he’d be better at shorter than 3m, Stilvi? That seems to be going against the form book to me.

Think the only way am going to have a bet is in-running after the first fence.
If Coneygree or Seeyouatmidnight get an easy(ish) lead might be interested.

    Playing devil’s advocate but…

You can use that argument any way you like though GT when you use it looking at one race in isolation. If a horse puts up a cracking performance at 2m 4f, as Seeyouatidnight did last time, why would you think he’d be better at 3m+?

That’s the point, it is not “in isolation”, you’ve got to take the 2m4f and the 4m race in to account.

Taking in to account the 2m4f race THM, I wouldn’t necessarily believe him better at 3m+ than 2m4f. But considering the Scottish National run at 4m I’d be amazed if Seeyouatmidnight isn’t at least as good at 3m as he is at 2m4f.

Although I’d disagree… I could understand someone believing he doesn’t quite stay 4m.
However, this is about staying 3m. If he didn’t truly stay 3m then surely he wouldn’t have done so well at 4m?
