The aptly named Rich Strike at 80/1 wins! The shock of shockers! That’s why I love this sport, the possibilities….
Istabraq, did you try Skybet? SkyRacing showed all the races from Churchill Downs yesterday. I think they will have the same coverage today.
Here’s a link to the “official’ current odds listed on Churchill Down’s website (it’s Race #12)
https://www.churchilldowns.com/racing-wagering/toteboard
I like Cyberknife here, currently 14/1. Although he looked like a drunken sailor in the stretch run in winning the Arkansas Derby (G1) last time out, he did beat the filly (Secret Oath) handily who won the Kentucky Oaks yesterday. She would beat most of the colts running here.
The most intriguing runner is the Japanese horse Crown Pride, 17/1. His last two official workouts were eye catching which tells me a couple of things: he’s fit and he’s taken very well to the surface. Could be a major player here. The Japanese horses have had tremendous success internationally in recent times…good luck.
CAS,
It’s lasix-free. The lasix phase-out started last year when it was banned for all stakes races, including the American classics and Breeders’ Cup. Actually, it was banned for 2-year-olds starting in 2020. And, I believe, that effective July 1, 2022 the use of lasix on race day will be banned according to the new law. It’s been used for about 50 years but, finally, it will disappear much to the displeasure of big pharma…
Interesting and fun topic…I clearly do remember this one, the 1999 BC Classic winner:
Cat Thief, by Storm Cat out of Train Robbery
(Train Robbery was by Alydar out of Track Robbery)
Thank you GG, GT, Wilts. Superb pace ride by James Doyle. I believe her time was quicker than yesterday’s 2000 Guineas winner? Can’t say enough praise about George Boughey, great training job! Was a bit disappointed with Malavath, I thought she would run better than what she showed…
Cashet, 16/1.
Could be argued that last year’s BC Juvenile Fillies Turf (see below link) has very good form as the 2nd (Malavath) and 4th (Cashet) won their 3-year old debuts at Group 3 level. Cashet ran a great race and just tired at the very end. However, on her seasonal debut she was rated “perfectly” to win going away. I’m a big believer in, and supporter of, Cashet’s trainer, George Boughey, who will have her ready no doubt.
However, the winner (Pizza Bianca) lost her debut race yesterday in New York. She finished 2nd to Consumer Spending who finished 6th beaten by about 2L in the same BC race.
I like Malavath for the Prix de Diane…
Go Bears Go, 25/1.
Ran a great race in last year’s BC Juvenile Sprint where he was just short at the wire finishing second to Twilight Gleaming. Although she lost her seasonal debut a couple of weeks ago at Keenland, the winner (Slipstream) finished 6th to Modern Games in last year’s BC Juvenile Turf (1M). So the form is not all that bad.
G.B.G is also entered to run on Wednesday…
Up the Hill Backwards
Solsbury Hill
Beverly HillbilliesHill Rise
Notting Hill
Beverly Hills CopGood questions, Ian. I don’t believe there are any excuses for his two losses, and W. Ward didn’t offer any either. He lost fair and square both times. But as FF points out, could be that he prefers the bends to stiff 5F’s at Ascot or York…
I’ll bite. Rory 20/1, and “finally” achieve his Slam!

This “little” horse with a BIG heart did not die in vain!
According to ‘Racing Post’:
“Bob Baffert edged closer to complete stable shutdown after latest legal setback.
The Kentucky Court of Appeals has denied Bob Baffert’s request for an emergency stay of a 90-day ban, the latest in a series of legal setbacks for the Hall of Fame trainer in his fight against two separate suspensions connected to Medina Spirit’s positive test after the 2021 Kentucky Derby.
The court on Friday dismissed Baffert’s claim that his suspension (90 days), due to come into force on Sunday, would cause ‘irreparable injury before the matter can be heard in due course’.
The suspension, which will be honoured by racing jurisdictions across the country, will result in Baffert having to disband his California stable”
Reportedly, he has over 100 stalls in Santa Anita which he had to be vacated effective Monday, 4th April 2022. I can not confirm whether or not he has?
While delivering her address at the FIFA Congress held yesterday (31st March 2022) in Qatar, Norway’s FA President Lise Klaveness had the courage and will to openly criticize Qatar’s human rights abuses. What is most striking about this, is that Ms. Klaveness was not afraid to state her views right in the middle of Qatar’s “living room”!
“Well Done Norway”, indeed!
On a related note, why FIFA, and the rest of the free world, are ignoring the human rights atrocities committed by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemeni people since 2014? And, Qatar forms a part of this coalition. This is the epitome of hypocrisy!
“Since the UN it is NOT the right of other states to decide others boundaries
Understood?”
Understood. Loud and clear! Oh, BTW, could you please remind me whether or not the UN was in effect when Putin annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. Oops, I forgot. That’s history FFS!
“No! ‘various states’ do not ‘decide the borders of a sovereign nation’.”
Huh? History shows otherwise. Just a couple examples:
1. The Potsdam Agreement, 1945. (the birth of the Soviet Union, and its satellites)
2. the partitioning of India in 1947 (i.e. giving establishment of Pakistan)
3. the map of the British Empire (pre-WWII)March 29, 2022 at 13:51 in reply to: It’s Starmer’s job to call for Johnson to resign, but…. #1590217The Metropolitan Police force said Tuesday that they were fining 20 people over parties held by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his staff during coronavirus lockdowns, and that more people could face penalties.
But, they didn’t identify recipients of the fixed penalty notices, though Johnson’s office has said it will reveal if he gets one.
If he does get fined, should he immediately resign?
“Is this a sign of things to come?”
Possibly, over the short-term. Over the last few years the foal crop data shows a year-on-year decline in Britain, Ireland and North America which could be a major contributing factor…
