Anyone know why few bookies are pricing up the Churchill down races?
Its not on any odds comparison sites either, other then racingpost
Do the track not have a partnership with certain bookies?
May 7, 2022 at 10:43 #1597245I tend to listen to WHill racing radio for the American racing. The American pundits on it give a good breakdown of the race.
May 7, 2022 at 11:56 #1597272He’s very inexperienced for the hurly burly of a “Run For The Roses,” but Taiba looks talented and progressive.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 7, 2022 at 12:24 #1597283Istabraq, did you try Skybet? SkyRacing showed all the races from Churchill Downs yesterday. I think they will have the same coverage today.
Here’s a link to the “official’ current odds listed on Churchill Down’s website (it’s Race #12)

I like Cyberknife here, currently 14/1. Although he looked like a drunken sailor in the stretch run in winning the Arkansas Derby (G1) last time out, he did beat the filly (Secret Oath) handily who won the Kentucky Oaks yesterday. She would beat most of the colts running here.
The most intriguing runner is the Japanese horse Crown Pride, 17/1. His last two official workouts were eye catching which tells me a couple of things: he’s fit and he’s taken very well to the surface. Could be a major player here. The Japanese horses have had tremendous success internationally in recent times…good luck.
May 7, 2022 at 13:31 #1597299Yes they don’t allow much stakes tho
May 7, 2022 at 23:23 #1597369You think you’ve got problems. I’ve had to put 5 pence ew minimum bet instead of 3 pence with W Hill. Need to lie down in a darkened room for a while….
May 8, 2022 at 00:37 #1597373The aptly named Rich Strike at 80/1 wins! The shock of shockers! That’s why I love this sport, the possibilities….
May 8, 2022 at 01:38 #1597377Well, I often back rank outsiders but I didn’t see that coming!
May 8, 2022 at 01:39 #1597378I only managed to listen to the race by tuning in to good old Radio Sport 927.
May 8, 2022 at 01:55 #1597379I don’t watch a great deal of American racing
But a 22 second 1/4 mile in the oaks and a 45 second 1/2 mile in the derby suggests suicidal early fractions were set in both races
22 seconds is a 6f early fraction isn’t it
It’s always a good watch but not a betting medium for me
May 8, 2022 at 08:38 #1597386Sensational ride from Sonny Leon.
He’s sat off that insane pace and always looks happy with his position, threads his way through on the inside and pounces close home.
Easier to summon the nerve to do, I guess, if you’re on an unconsidered runner, but a tremendous piece of jockeyship nonetheless.

May 8, 2022 at 12:19 #1597398FF,
Good points. What was Barzalona thinking on The Summer Is Tomorrow? He jumped out to the early lead through fractions of 21.78 – fastest recorded first 1/4-mile in the history of this race. No wonder he finished dead last…
ID, Moe,
I had another look after reading your comments. Totally agree, a masterful ride by the jock, Leon Sonny. I have never heard of him prior to this race. Good on the connections, they’re just “little” operation, totally unknown to the general racing public. Nice to see them getting their 5-minutes in the sun…
Just a general question:
In the last 6/7 months the racing world had seen two 80/1 shots win a couple (2021 Arc, KD) of the biggest races in the world. What is it about the bettors’ behavior that they dismiss such runners and assign little value where, upon having a closer examination of their form, doesn’t appear that they should be at such large odds?
May 8, 2022 at 14:28 #1597407The 6f sprint at Ascot on good ground yesterday took 1 min 13 secs.
The 6f split at Churchill Downs was 1 min 10. Ridiculous.
An absolutely wonderful story given the small trainer and the tragedy in 2016. Just the result I like to see.
However Rich Strike has no chance in the Preakness.
