Wow!! What the hell was that?
Brilliant performance. I’ve read all this topic and I can’t believe some people are claiming this was an ordinary Guineas. There were four (I think) Group 1 winners in the race and the three top two year olds with only two defeats between them. The second was a previosly unbeaten Group 1 winner. What more can you ask for? What subsequently happens remains to be seen but at this stage you’ve got to say Sir Percy would’ve won nine out of ten Guineas.
George Washington was absolutely brilliant, can’t really say much more than that.

I don’t think he will mate so I can’t argue with you
. I’m sure someone will if you’re patient enough. Quote: from IRSHEYEZ on 11:35 pm on May 4, 2006[br]

Quote: from IRSHEYEZ on 10:24 pm on May 4, 2006[br]Imo George will win the Guineas on saturday, i think AOB is not tryin to overhype the horse because he doesnt want another one cool cat episode which cost Spencer his job at Ballydoyle. This horse will stay a mile and i think he may even get 10f if tried in the eclipse later on in the season. Fallon has been very bullish over the winter about George and he aint a bad judge as when he went to sit on motivator before the RP trrophy as a 2 year old he told a stable lad he was the best 2 year old he had ever sat on and that he wud win the derby.

Yes but he also said Gypsy King could beat Motivator in the Derby.
I gurantee u if Magnier had of said u have the choice to ride either Gypsy king or Motivator he wudda opted for Motivator

Agreed.
My point being that it doesn’t always pay to listen to what people say. I’d rather go on fact rather than opinion / hype / something thats said out of loyalty.

I think this is a great topic. Should be on the shortlist for post of the month. It’s great to get an insight into peoples minds and personalities.
Answering it isn’t easy. I suppose how skint you are determines how much winning the money means lol but people who take their betting seriously do it with the intention of making money so money does matter.
On the other hand there’s nothing better than "I told you so’s".
Personally, I have a particular way of betting and I only bet in certain races as I beileve its how I bet best and I obtain better results therefore a winning bet means to me that I’ve done something right and it convinces me that I know what I’m talking about to a degree anyway.
Dunno, I think its probably a mixture of money and solving the puzzle.
Don’t rule out Nasheej.
She has a good level of form, is race fit and has been screaming out for a step up to a mile. The extra furlong and the type of course that Newmarket is should suit her down to the ground.
I think horses know exactly whats going on, the same way a dog knows how to fetch a ball. Racehorses are bred to run.
I think they’re all individual, some will really try, some will do it when they want to, some will take the mick and some just won’t give a damn, bit like human beings.
You get horses like Desert Orchid, Giants Causeway etc that will scrap for their lives and will give every last drop to win then you get others that have their own ideas, complete fruitcakes like Harwell Lad, Vodkatini etc. Green Green Desert for me was another one that did exactly what he liked.
Dessie knew when he’d won alright. If he did then so do the rest.
Good point re Rhinestone Cowboy although I think Black Jack Ketchum finishes his races better than Rhinestone did.
I agree if I owned Black Jack it’d be the World Hurdle I’d be aiming at. IMO he’d chew the likes of Mighty Man and My Way De Solzen up and spit them out.
