I dont know if Im alone in this but I really thought he was idleing in the last half a furlong. Did you see the two ears?? A real sign of a character (i.e Complete tramp!!) of a horse.

I know nothing about this early season flat business so I need somone else to give me the winner of this.

I suppose I fancy flashy wings but I think Wake up Maggie is nice ew price.

Having connections to Coolmore, Im not actually much of fan of theres and Im not the only one. But big business tends to be ruthless. I wont say anymore because of liabel laws.

    Great racing heads there though.

[A top class 3 year old in a group where the rest (except one) were trained to a peak. Slowish early pace and no horse willing to pass OO. Slow overall time for the going and winning from coming from behind with that pace is always a warning sign not to over rate. At no stage did GW accelerate, cruised for 4 furlongs and really slowed over last 2 furlongs. GW appeared hard trained for this race and AOB did not seem to have future plans decided. None of the field looked to have the stamina, compactness or speed for an Epsom Derby but many will win again at 7-8 furlongs on similar galloping courses.
]
So Robert…to summarise. You think the winner started slow…didnt accelerate and and then crawled over the last two furlongs. Hmm.

Just been studying the form for this. Looks like an open enough race.

What do you reckon on Wake up Maggies chances. Nobody has mentioned her but she was very impressive when beating Cool Creek in Ireland last year. She also divided Donna Blini Flasy wings. I suppose the only thing, she is not very big, so are we thus assuming she is less likely to train on.

Is that what happens with smaller horses??

EC surely as the favourite, not that many people are playing him down???? Lets be honest, consider what he did in last year and he deserves to be fovourite and Im more taken by him then I was ever by One cool cat. Thats not retrospect… but at the same time. I havent seen GW this year and so too much is on trust..

plus….Asset excites me. He could be the dogs b*****ks

Yeah Id agree with that. Thats the trouble with these classic contenders going in as fresh 3 year olds. We all know Flashy Wings and Rumpelstiltskin are the main contenders off 2 year old form but it would have been nice to get a view of them in a prep race. I think Speciosa has improved all last season and has improved through the winter and if she keeps straight, she will be thereabouts for me.

[- as far as i can see it needs all the support it can get and doesn’t need sniping from within whatever one’s personal preference]

Needs support from within??? Tell me, what area of racing do you actually work in?? I think youll find that by and large the breeders and dealers within the NH industry dont see themselves as being within the same club. And the fact is SB, that I think AW racing is of no interest to me and that is just a fact ….and while I might think myself a very important chap…this opinion of mine probably wont do AW racing much harm. So perhaps your being a bit more irked than your doctor would think healthy.

[obviously not. to compare the racing that has so far been staged on kempton’s aw track to greyhound racing is pathetic – it has been markedly better than many of the poor quality turf flat or jumps meetings but i have heard no call for this racing to be culled – and the course itself is far superior to many of the poor flat or jumps courses. if it’s quality you’re worried about let’s shut down brighton racetrack for a start, and a lot of these ridiculous jumps venues that stage a few low grade meets a year – no i don’t mean that, if you like racing you should be glad of the increase in your sport.
i don’t understand the anti-aw faction but EC is right, get used to it or shut up or ship out. it’s not just the way it’s going but the quality will keep increasing too.

greyhound racing – now there is a pointless sport – might as well roll a dice every 12 minutes… ]

Mr Berry. Do you have shares in an allweather track? Pathetic??? I dont think expressing the opinion held by many people that allweather racing is really quite boring should be termed pathetic and it isnt just a matter of quality.

Frankly I would rather watch two chasers of similar poor standard go to war over the last few fences at Ludlow then a couple of ponies kicking a beach into each others faces at Wolverhampton. Just for the record, Im not botherd or offended by anyone else not sharing such an opinion. For the time being, we live in a democracy and until I can get myself to a position of world domination, then the misplaced affections held dearly by others must be respected.

"shut up or ship out" Thanks for that. Tell me, do you work in middle management??? It sounds like you picked that sound bite out of a text book. Perhaps you would like a forum whereby nobody writes anything you dont agree with?? Cant manage that for now but perhaps if you start your own thread, we will all promise not to write all over it.

P.S As you might have guessed from the username, Im not ante flat racing.

Wow…thats a real "extreme" sport your talking about. Cant see how the novelty would ever wear off.

Yeah and in fairness, we know now he has gone the right way and its pure guesswork as to how Horation Nelson, George Washington et al. are these days.

Ah yes, Good old Harwell lad. Robert Alner said he had the most ability of any horse he had but impossible to train. Surely if this were a nomination for biggest equine b*****d
in racing, this hero would surely be up for it. A horse with attitude and apparently a sense of humor. Carried the less then stylish Rupert Nuttall around to win the whitbred cause he didnt seem to dislike him as much as some others who sat on him.

cahervillahow…found loads off the bridle but perhaps was not such a lucky sort. Finished second at cheltenham afterbeing left at the start behind seagram….beaten by a nostril in the Irish National,…..second in a void national…..and disqualified quite unfairly (imo) in the Whitbred when Docklands express got the race. Apparently he was also withdrawn from the Gold cup as an error by the Stable secretary. I saw him making his chase debut in Clonmel.

If I could guarantee that the horse wouldn’t be injured in the interim, (I wouldn’t want the stress),

Eh….thats why 3s at this stage is ridiculous

Yeah, I mean I find him a real optemist so I dont perhaps take it too much in when he gives a tip.

But he is not as guarded as Pipe, who to frank, gives interviews without saying anything meaningful. Maybe saving it for the pipeline I suppose
