I think we can win it, I only think there’s two better teams in it which
are Spain and Argentina, so with a slice of luck, I’ll be taking the 7/1.

I think your spot on Matthew. Spain are the correct favourites, but I would certainly put Argentina & England ahead of Brazil, who rely too much on the services of Kaka.

The two strangest decisions in Capello’s squad are Carrick & Heskey. Carrick has been poor all season & is overrated & Heskey just can’t score for England. He should have chosen Walcott & Bent, but has obviously went for experience instead.

I’ve looked at comments & spoke with a few people & they’re still going on about Brazil winning a sixth World Cup. I think this is the weakest Brazilian team in a long time & would be surprised if they win it.

They certainly have the World Cup pedigree along with Italy & Germany, but rely too much on Kaka & although they have a chance, I would be surprised if they even reach the semi’s in South Africa!

Got to be Spain for me at 4/1 or Argentina at 15/2. The two outsider bets I would consider are the two runners up in the South American qualifiers – Chile & Paraguay who are priced up at 66/1 & 100/1 at present.

    Todays win & place selection.

    15:30 REDCAR CLASS 5 H’CAP 1M 1F GF

    CRYSTAL FEATHER 8.4 BACK | 2.66 E/WAY (3 PLACES)

Win & Place Adv. – Distance
    Ground Conditions
    Course Characteristics

Win & Place Disadv. – Class

With rain getting into the ground in the north east of England, this should play more favourably into Crystal Feather’s hands & I expect good place claims, along with top weight Visions Of Johanna. Crystal Feather 8.4 to back & 2.66 e/way.

    Todays win only selection.

    16:00 SEDGEFIELD H’CAP CHASE CLASS4 3M 3F GOOD

    FINBIN 3.4 BACK (WIN ONLY)

    Win Adv. – Ground Conditions
    Distance
    Horse Recent Form

    Win Adv. – Weight
    Trainer Course Form

    I think

    Finbin

    &

    Overton lad

have a similar chance of winning
    & the value lies with

    Finbin

. The main concern with our chosen
horse is the weight over a stamina testing distance.

    Finbin

    3.4 to back.

MONKTON VALE 4.2 BACK (WIN ONLY)

    Win Adv. – Weight

    Win Disadv. – Distance

    I think with

    Beat The Rush

now out of the race, this gives

    Monkton Vale

    a good chance.

    Judiciary

is unknown over the distance &

    Dancing Dude

is carrying a bit of weight.

    Monkton Vale

reasonable value to back at 4.2.

    I think our chosen horse

    Rosbay

has good each way claims in what
is a competitve race, with about six horses capable of winning.

    Rosbay

    good value to back at 10.0 & 3.05 e/way.

It’s sad that instead of talking about Neil Robertson & a great achievement, we now end up discussing the NOTW rag paper. I have watched the video & I must admit it doesn’t look good at all for Higgins. I can only guess that his manager Pat Mooney has played a large part in this, but to what extent, I don’t have a clue !

Apparently NOTW are going to reveal more details about other bribes in the snooker world this sunday & try to sell more papers & keep their quality journalism tag !

Well these semis are turning into a major disappointment for me. Carter has never recovered from his bad start and he’s never looked like getting back on terms. Dott continues to impress and winning the last 3 frames today was probably as big a blow to Selby as it was to me :o :D

It’s a pity that the final has been overshadowed by the NOTW video & the Higgins betting scandal. Their timing never ceases to amaze me & are a real rag of a newspaper.
This could be the beginning of the end for John Higgins & just don’t understand why he would ever contemplate taking a bribe, especially as he’s made a good living from the sport.

A big session in store tonight.

Carter v Murphy could go either way and although Carter was one of my pre tournament picks my gut feeling is that Murphy will edge it but whoever wins has got a very tough semi against Robertson.

My other pick Selby has to somehow stick with O’Sullivan but if he can keep it close I can see him winning 13-11 or 13-12. Dott did remarkably well to beat Allen and he will give either player a tough match in the semis.

It’s Selby’s to lose, although Robertson is playing some excellent snooker.

    I think

    Crazy Bold

    over 2m. I expect

    Jenny Potts

    &

to fight for the place market. Crazy Bold 4.5 to back.

Couple of belting matches today, just finished watching Ding/Murphy which was a cracker and O’Sullivan/Williams earlier.

Still feel it’s such a shame at how bizarre a person Ronnie O’Sullivan is. We had the fingering the ball last week and attempting the pot before the ref had put the ball back on the spot, and then today thought he was totally disrespectful to his fellow Pro’s and the guy who was interviewing him with some of the answers he gave.

As I say, such a shame because he’s without doubt the most naturally gifted player I think I’ve ever seen or ever likely to see in my lifetime…

Your spot on. It is a real shame that Ronnie doesn’t look interested at times & can be direspectful to the game & his fellow players. I don’t think there’s much doubt in him being the most naturally gifted player, that has ever picked up a cue & the game certainly needs him.

Murphy looked in super form last night. Won 8 Frames on the bounce. I backed him at 20/1 and think he has a great chance. O’Sullivan’s attitude doesn’t seem right and he has to be on top form if he is going to win. So I’d be layer of him at the minute.

Couldn’t agree with you more & he gave Greene false hope in the first frame. My two value recommendations before the tournament started were Selby & Murphy.

My checklist for them ticked the three boxes –

    Crucible Experience
    Recent Form
    Longer Formats (Mental Stamina)

Both of these players have got all three at present & that is why the value odds were with those two & a reason to oppose O’Sullivan & Higgins.

DING looks a safe money buying bet @ 1.11

to beat Pettman in their match which starts at 10am

    Won 10-1 8)

If you won the bet then, I would normally say well done but risking £100 to win £11 is crazy, even if you thought Pettman was a pub player & the both of us could give him a game.

Not to long ago I laid a horse you probaly know well called

    Zaynar

for £250. Not because I thought he wouldn’t win, but I thought the lay odds of 1.07 were incredible & there was one other horse that would test him & so it proved. I risked £17.50 to win £250 – 4.5% commission.

    Zaynar Result

Still early days but I’m obviously happy that Carter and Selby are still in but Cope is in serious danger of never realising his true potential as he faces another season outside the top 16.

Ronnie and Ding look as if they are playing well but hopefully Williams will give Ronnie more of a match in round 2.

Selby is playing well & I can see him winning the title, although I hope not. Carter’s had a good season, but will probably fall short & find one to good. As for Cope, I think he has to conquer the demons inside his head, he has good ability but his head goes down far to quick.

In what is a short field over 17f, I think

excellent chance despite being top weight.

    She’s Humble

could feature in the place market.
