Mega-dribble. Exciting, innit?
So – I’ll plop for Brazil (5/1) as my main bet at around 11/2. As Nathan said on the Golden Flip flop thread, Brazil are much stronger at the back. I see them getting to the final with a string of hard-earned 1-0 and 2-1 victories.
England are a daft price. Ar they a sensible price on Venus?
I really must point you guys towards Serbia who topped their, admittedly weak, qualifying group.
They are very neat and compact, have attacking flair and a LOT of desire. The latter may sound a strange thing to say, but I think this is a team that knows it is better than most realise and will want to prove so on the biggest stage.
66/1 outright (so a small E/W on that) but I prefer the 10/3 for them to top their group (I can’t have Germany). They are about 8/1 to makes the semis and I would have a bet on that along with them reaching the quarters…couldn’t find a price on that but there must be one.
So come on, let’s be having you – who’s gonna win the damn thing?!!!

May 25, 2010 at 23:14 #296917Spain for me
Closely Followed by Argentina
May 26, 2010 at 01:20 #296919The current Spainish and Brazilian teams are better than anything I’ve seen in the last 25 years. The only team that pushes them is the French 1998 and 2000 team IMO.
They both play like brilliant club sides, and this quality will prove just too irresistible as they steamroll their paths to the final.
So England Vs Spain it is, then…

Spain should edge it.

May 26, 2010 at 09:18 #296931I will go for
Spain
who look the best side although there is plenty of teams including England capable of knocking them out. Brazil look a little light upfront but might just have the best defence and a quality keeper and will be hard to beat.
I’ve had a small bet on Paraguay to win their group against Italy, Slovakia and New Zealand although I was surprised not to see Oscar Cardozo in the squad last night vs Ireland, any news on him?

May 26, 2010 at 09:51 #296940Nathan, you put that bet on Paraguay in the spank bank because from watching them last night, I wouldn’t be sure they’ll get out of their group.
I see that:
skybet refund losing bets if England win
setantabet if brazil win
stanjames if spain winSurely there is a way to place to a couple of risk free bets by combining these offers. I can only see 4 possible winners the other team being the Argies.
May 26, 2010 at 10:25 #296945Spain !
nb Brazil
England will lose in semi – finals to Brazil ( you heard it here first

I didn’t watch it last night but was told they played woeful. When I placed the bet it was 4/1 and best priced now 7/2 so I could lay it off but it’s only a £5.00 bet so i’ll let it run, although i cant believe Santa Cruz is ahead of Cardozo in the pecking order.

May 26, 2010 at 11:14 #296957Be careful of the SkyBet offer.
If you note the T&Cs for the offer there is one which states "one offer only per customer"
I queried this with them and it means that they are only refunding your FIRST bet on the outright market
May 26, 2010 at 11:32 #296961Thanks David useful info, I know Stan James are only refunding your bet as a free bet. Setanta’s looks fine but limited to £100 refund. You can back 5 teams @ £20 each and still get £100 back. I was thinking
Argentina 7/1
Spain 4/1
England 6/1
Italy 14/1
Germany 14/1So long as one of these or Brazil wins you are covered. Nice profit in it if Italy or Germany take it?
May 26, 2010 at 11:50 #296963Sky’s is a free bet as well, not actual cash back.
May 26, 2010 at 11:55 #296964I see that:
skybet refund losing bets if England win
No danger of skybet having to refund any bets then, Blackpool have more chance of winning The Premiership than England have of winning the World Cup!
May 26, 2010 at 12:01 #296965England are well underpriced for me.
Shakey back 4. Tired Midfield and complete over reliance on Rooney who has had a Very tough year for Manchester United.
Their 7.6 on Betfair i am surprised their not around 13. The Dutch are 13 and they have a very exciting team.

If that was the case then it’s fair to say Blackpool have more chance of winning the Champions League by the time it takes Scotland to qualify for the World Cup.

May 26, 2010 at 12:23 #296970Here’s some drivel I posted on Betfair last night about England’s price:
England’s price seems to reflect the thinking that they have an easy passage to the semis.
They are the shortest of any teams in Groups A-D with Argentina next followed by Germany which again reflects the fact that the top half of the draw is widely regarded as easier.
And with Holland, Brazil, & Spain in the bottom half, it’s probably a fair assumption.
If England get to the semis with 3 other big guns, say Brazil, Spain, & Germany (or maybe an in-form Argentina or France), they will still only be 3rd-favs and their price probably won’t shift all that much downwards (say 5/4 to win their semi (vs Spain) followed by 5/4 to win the final (vs Brazil) is a 4/1 double)
If the competition was a pure open draw after the group phase I would make them the same price as Holland which would be about 11/1 or 12/1 but the draw should help them.
May 26, 2010 at 14:18 #296997England’s price reflects
– A seamless qualifying campaign
– A great manager with a great record
– A somewhat easier group
– A first choice 11 than is as good as anyone
– A striker who is probably the best in Europe at minuteThanks to the draw, England should make semi finals where they should meet Brazil. I’d expect them to beat Brazil the way Dunga has them set up.
May 26, 2010 at 14:43 #297002England are a thoroughly average International team. I’d be stunned if they weren’t knocked out early.
Spain. Back. Collect.
