Last a lot of water at Kempton compared what they have allegedly put on at Chepstow(one eye in Welsh national no doubt).
Just shows how much is needed to get it to good on the winter courses.
Wonder what the NH course at Ascot is like given how it looked in the summerNicky mentioned on Sunday that Sir Gino might start back in The Desert Orchid at Kempton although I’m not sure if he remembered that that race has been dumbed down into a handicap
Same depressing mantra from JCR with them rolling out the red carpet for the sockless drunks and the return of the dreaded”ladies day”,an affliction that’s now even hit Badger Day at Wincanton.
Disappointed to see Guy praise Aintree,a racecourse that’s handed itself over to the nightclubbing coke snorters.
I’m not sure the racing enthusiasts will be returning to the festival anytime soon.Perfect illustration of the clowns that plan race times at BHA and HRI with scheduling Killarney at 3.40 and Ebor at 3.35.York was never going to be off on time, also why all the afternoon meetings on RTV with nothing on SSR?
Great to see Reference Point mentioned especially as he took in the King George on the way to York & Doncaster, something Lambourn appeared incapable of doing yesterday it seems.
Certainly easy to spot the young “journalists” & presenters working themselves up into a lather for tomorrow’s race, way too young to remember when this really was a race to get excited about.
King George also outside the 2-4 window.bit of a gap before it but will be filled with Irish racing no doubt.
How can SSR cover the big race properly when they will have to rush straight off to a sand pit race?6 horses in The Eclipse and ITV only bother to show 2 in the parade ring.
Sadly those horrible trolly hurdles have struck again
Certainly looks like Field of Gold is going to be this years hyped up flat horse and ITV will wollow in it with connections hoping that by naming targets early, others will go elsewhere
The demographic of London has changed so much in recent years with so many having moved far away that I’m not sure we will ever see the masses return to the downs, check out the poor attendances at Kempton & Sandown compared to years ago.
I would move the race back to a Wednesday in half term week and run it at 7pm.
It would create more off course coverage and maybe entice a few more back that way. That’s what happens when bookmakers gracefully allow the BHA to create a small window for The Derby, along comes an Irish race to fill it.
I’ve 50p on a delayed Derby split screen with the 4.40 at PunchestownUsed to be 3.30/3.45 back in the good old days before the meddling started.
On the plus side,at least it’s one less mediocre race for racegoers to watch beforehandGiven that the Racing post seems to get the inside storys from BHA in return for their arse licking articles, the column on Monday questioning summmer jumping suggests changes are afoot.
How long should a break be and will the bookies accept less fixtures?I see The Derby is once again playing 2nd fiddle to football with the off time moved a hour earlier.
Ages ago it was suggested running the race on a weekday evening, maybe that will work?
As for Epsom’s rumoured plan to run the 3 group 1s on 3 days instead of 2,that would be very British racing wouldn’t itImagine worrying about carbon footprint in a country this small

Disappointing to see that the enjoyable Badger Day at Wincanton has now been turned into a “ladies day”
