As Gladiateur says, the science bit was interesting but otherwise its just the same things being said by different faces. This whole debate is going round in circles. Highlight for me was the casino owner calling FOBTs ‘immoral’

Surely in spite of all their big-race wins the biggest underachievers, by far, given the amount that they have invested are the Maktoum family?
In a similar vein, Mr O’Brien can often have 3 or 4 runners in a big race. I could tip that many per race and I’d get loads of winners but it wouldn’t make me a good tipster. I’m not belittling him, clearly the guy is very good at what he does and the vast majority of us couldn’t do it in a month of Sundays but does he really warrant the amount that some racing media are up his backside? Or is he in fact still overachieving relative to the vast resources he has available to him?
Probably too late but a heads up that Paddy are giving a fiver free tennis bet for every (singles) match won if you have 25 win or 12.50 e/w on mens outright. Only need to make quarters for money back in bets and even Murray gets you your cash back if he makes the final (he’s 2/1 half odds 1,2)

Presumably it is in theory possible for one to do one’s absolute brains with a particular bookie when arbing but make a large profit elsewhere to profit overall. In reality I guess it more or less evens its self out though.
Personally I couldn’t give a monkey’s who presents anything, racing or otherwise. Just show me the sport and I’ll form my own opinions. Commentators are important and maybe send one decent interviewer but the rest of them can get off the gravy train and sit in a studio.

That’s a little bit of an unfair comparison, I can vaguely recall the odd occasion when I have requested booze from a drinking establishment and been refused

As far as he is concerned I have placed a bet on an outcome and that is that, one of us will win the bet and the other lose. What I do elsewhere is absolutely none of his business. Or am I missing something?

In his defence he doesn’t get paid enough to care. As long as there are mugs and machines he still has a job. I had the occasional punter storm out cos they wouldn’t let him have a tiddler of a bet on. My thoughts were basically ‘shoddy business practice yes but no skin off my nose.’
On the surface of it, they would appear to be exactly what many on here and elsewhere have been crying out for. No gimmicks, no casino and lay a half decent bet. We shall see I guess.
I’d purchase two evenly matched horses, always race them together and call them Pitt The Elder and Lord Palmerston.
Five Internet points for the not so obscure reference.
There are unconfirmed rumours that Emma Spencer was ejected from the stadium by security after attempting to approach Usain Bolt armed with a microphone attached to a six foot pole as he crossed the line in the 100m final.
What cost them a bit was making it 5000/1 in the first place. Not one person who backed those odds would have looked at 1000/1 and said ‘that’s no value’ and not placed the bet. Also never heard any mention of the big bets that went down the pan on the favourites. And of course they will have been queuing up all month to punt the no hopers again.
Chelsea to win the PL with Sanchez top scorer 125/1. If Aguero stays fit I’ve got no chance but I don’t like any of the others at the top of the betting. (single figure odds on Ibrahimovic for example
) And I fancy Chelsea’s chances and Arsenal to go well but fall short as always.Draws at Derby, Shrewsbury and Blackpool. All around the 9/4 mark, £1.25 trixie plus a both to score 6fold on matches picked out of a hat.
Here we go again

Right, finally made my mind up, a yankee on:
To Win outright
Chelsea 11/2
Newcastle 7/4
Plymouth 14/1To be promoted
Northampton 9/1Chelsea should go well after last season’s debacle and have no European distractions either. United are too short, would be 5/1 if you took Mr Mourinho out of the equation. Tottenham and Liverpool have had their chance in recent times, don’t see it happening this time. Arsenal will be there or thereabouts but may well fall short yet again. Leicester was fantastic to see last year but sorry, not happening again. Do enjoy your year as Champs though
City will be tough to beat and are worthy favs but I’ll take Chelsea at the odds.Unusally for the Championship I can’t see past Newcastle and as I said in another thread I’d rather back a short winner than look for value and have a loser.
Argyle did alright last season and I’m not too keen on backing short odds in the lower two leagues as they often disapoint. Don’t read too much into managers but the gaffer has been given a decent length contract which shows faith.
Northampton destroyed League 2 last time and don’t see why they can’t make noises here. Kept a lot of their players and sometimes promoted sides go well again.
Good luck lads

I think I’ll back someone for promotion in the Championship. The bar codes should hose up really but it’s wide open in behind them. That said I guess it’s better to have a 7/4 winner in your multiple than a bigger priced loser. I’ll be going for longer odds in Leagues 1 and 2.
Good to see the Paddy offer back. Bar Aguero, every player is profit if they make the frame so well worth an each way. Plus you’ll get more than your pony back in bets if they are in contention. Will post my ante post yankee once it’s on too.
