Is it any wonder people don’t punt on racing any more? OK this is at a gash Irish course and wont get that much wider attention but Joe Public is presumably suspicious that this sort of thing is going on all over the place to one extent or another.
With regards to young people, they only have so much money and it goes on football and into machines. Saturday mornings in the bookies involve putting an acca on a load of 4/7 football teams and chucking a score into a roulette machine before whiling away the afternoon with Jeff Stelling and co. And that is exactly what is sold to them in most of the adverts. Good luck with convincing them to even switch the channel to ITV. Horses are what granddad watches and it’s probably fixed anyway.
I’m on Garcia at 25s and Fowler at 40s. Good luck gents.
I doubt they’d be welcomed by jockeys. Enthusiasm among trainers would be limited too imo
I totally agree but assuming either 3/4 or 4/4 split of codes, how different is it to now? There must be many meetings at which a given jockey is only eligible for at most 4 or 5 races. And surely most trainers don’t enter more than 3 or 4 races per meeting if that. Unless there’s other reasons, I’m totally ignorant to the logistics of it all.
Something I would, for want of a better word, jump at the chance to attend. Would be better value as a day out in my eyes, a slightly more varied spectacle. Does it happen in France? One of the few other countries that has a good scene in both codes.
But wont be happening any time soon I guess, you’d only really be doing it for the benefit of those on course. Any serious fan off course can pick and choose what they watch and your average shop punter wouldn’t know or care if you threw a cartoon from Portman Park in there.

3rd Wings of DesireI’ve got the PL down to Man City or Chelsea. Edging towards Chelsea cos I think 6s looks big (can get 13/2 with someone called 10Bet but no idea who they are and I wouldn’t even trust them to be here in 9 months time
). Man Utd too short for my liking and I can’t be backing Arsenal, fall short too often. No Europe for Chelsea is potentially a plus but City have the squad to cope so I’m not reading too much into that.As for the rest I don’t think we’ll be seeing a repeat of last season, think the big boys will pull their fingers out although I’d be wary of short prices about them away to the likes of Boro.
Staggering how many people find racing to be a joke/fixed etc yet still bet on it.
Yeah I did Aguero but straight win. No doubt many of them will be dangling various proverbial carrots as per usual. Didn’t know they went 5 places, although I tend to go for a win multiple on the leagues with an e/w acca so I’ll be going wherever the prices are best. Even the Premier League is wide open by its standards, six at single figure odds, time to get studying I think!
That Paddy offer is fantastic, really hope it’s back again this year. Like you said at the start, 10 goals gets you your score back in bets, anything else is a bonus. Half of it came in one game last season on Aguero. I even won a few quid off them occasionally.
I always do some kind of multiple on Prem/Champ/League 1/2 with mixed results. Managed 2 out of 4 a few years ago (was when Leicester won the Championship, needless to say I didn’t have such faith in them in the Prem…) Boro was about as close as I got last year, I think one of my selections was relegated

I’ll put my four up when it’s on.
What the ruddy hell has Top Gear got to do with it? Also he says football goes hours without mentioning betting, not sure that’s true. Maybe I just notice it more now but betting tends to get some kind of mention in a lot of sports coverage. Pretty sure I’ve seen examples of various sports using the odds in their discussions of who will win a match/tournament etc for example even if its as simple as saying ‘Murray will be fav now Djokovic is out’.
Good work getting a 28/1 winner, I was happy enough getting my money back on my losing correct score cos it ended 0-0

I was actually really pleased for Ronaldo. I know he gets a lot of stick (guess he brings it on himself to an extent) but he is a phenomenal player and it was sad to see him go off injured.
It doesn’t matter who said it, but surely this is clever rather than stupid.
If the price shortens then the deduction is higher, meaning less payout. Or have I got it my ass and elbow mixed up?
One of the oldest tricks in the book isn’t it?
I finally abandoned my ‘not backing outrights when England are involved’ policy and had a bit of 12s Italy during the group stage. Long way to go but I’d fancy them to go all the way if they can get past Germany.
(aforementioned policy cost me the forecast in the last World Cup, about 25/1 I think it was, so it had to go)
For me it’s disgusting they are allowed to bet at such margins. The scary thing is they’ll take a lot of money at these horrible prices.
Can’t say I blame them, seems like good business sense to me. People are free to take their money to Betfair or wherever but seemingly enough are happy to bet at bookies odds to keep them going. Not paying money owed that has been honestly won (assuming that is the case) is however a disgrace.
If those are the full facts of the situation then thats pretty shoddy treatment and she’ll presumably have little trouble in court (not that it should come to that). Although our esteemed media have never been ones to let facts get the way of a good story so who knows?
