With the very average Euro 16, thankfully over and done with, time to try and dig out some league winners for the coming season.
After hitting the crossbar the year before for a massive win, last season was easily my worst ever, with none of my selections ever in serious contention.
Still, happy to give it another bash, though after last season, I’m not filled with the usual “confidence” I seem to have, every year around Mid July to Early August lol.
Usual bet for me, and a straightforward Accumulator, in the naive hope I can land a big pot.
Championship – Derby 12’s
League 1 – Sheffield United 6’s
League 2 – F’cking Luton 10’s
Non League – Lincoln 16’sAny one else having a go at these, or any other Ante-Post plays?
July 11, 2016 at 23:17 #1255508I’m at the F’cking Derby stage after the last two seasons vtc but am a sucker for punishment and although I’d want more 12’s is just about backable and I’ll probably have another go with them.
I’m not touching anything in the leagues below the Championship and will concentrate on that and the PL
Have done Liverpool to finish top 4 at 7/4. Spurs are evens on the same bet, yet both are 9’s to win the title. I have said on the circus thread L’pool would have been much nearer 5th but had rested a lot of players near the end of the season when the Europa Cup became the priority. It’s a new season and new players for top sides but I maintained not being in European is a huge advantage with less games and travelling meaning less injuries and fatigue + a whole weeks focus on the game ahead in training whilst others will be on the plane to places like Russia. I think it’s Liverpool that should be evens and I will be ticking away on this bet for as long as they are bigger. Spurs lost all momentum at the end of the season and finished in a negative mood whereas Liverpool were pretty positive with Klopp giving the place a feel good factor which I think can continue. Arsenal will be thereabouts but Wenger seems to under pressure and lost a section of the crowd last year. Chelsea, United and City all have new managers(bloody good ones) but will it take them some time to settle in.? No European football for Chelsea will aid them. Good luck to Leicester but they will find it much harder this time around but I think they will do well in the CL if taken lightly.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 12, 2016 at 18:56 #1255570Good luck Nathan, hope Liverpool, and Derby of course, give you a big season
July 12, 2016 at 19:26 #1255576Good Luck Nathand like me you will probably need it with Derby

I have done a miracle each way lucky 15
CHELSEA 13/2
BRIGHTON 14/1
MILLWALL 11/1
LEYTON ORIENT 10/1which wins me thirty four grand for a tennner!!
July 12, 2016 at 20:26 #1255580I always do some kind of multiple on Prem/Champ/League 1/2 with mixed results. Managed 2 out of 4 a few years ago (was when Leicester won the Championship, needless to say I didn’t have such faith in them in the Prem…) Boro was about as close as I got last year, I think one of my selections was relegated

I’ll put my four up when it’s on.
July 13, 2016 at 17:45 #1255845Look forward to seeing your picks Richard, good luck with them, and with yours Raymo
July 14, 2016 at 21:18 #1255944No bets yet but
Initial thoughts
Prem. Very tight race. Chelsea or Man U maybe the value at the moment.
Champs. Brighton at 14s although Villa under Di Matteo could go well at 9s.
Will post any selections closer to the start. Hopefully SkyBet will go ew on first 4 again
July 17, 2016 at 22:57 #1256506I’ve got the PL down to Man City or Chelsea. Edging towards Chelsea cos I think 6s looks big (can get 13/2 with someone called 10Bet but no idea who they are and I wouldn’t even trust them to be here in 9 months time
). Man Utd too short for my liking and I can’t be backing Arsenal, fall short too often. No Europe for Chelsea is potentially a plus but City have the squad to cope so I’m not reading too much into that.As for the rest I don’t think we’ll be seeing a repeat of last season, think the big boys will pull their fingers out although I’d be wary of short prices about them away to the likes of Boro.
July 18, 2016 at 13:25 #1256533Bob are you a Luton fan
My bets so far for new season are
BOURNEMOUTH Be relagated 100/30
DERBY 12/1 To win Championship
SCUNTHORPE 16/1 To win league 1July 20, 2016 at 23:39 #1256747Nah Darren, not a fan, but seem to have been betting them every season for the last 10 years, even though they always let me down haha. They always look so appealing at this time of year, and this year looks no different
August 4, 2016 at 19:13 #1258867Right, finally made my mind up, a yankee on:
To Win outright
Chelsea 11/2
Newcastle 7/4
Plymouth 14/1To be promoted
Northampton 9/1Chelsea should go well after last season’s debacle and have no European distractions either. United are too short, would be 5/1 if you took Mr Mourinho out of the equation. Tottenham and Liverpool have had their chance in recent times, don’t see it happening this time. Arsenal will be there or thereabouts but may well fall short yet again. Leicester was fantastic to see last year but sorry, not happening again. Do enjoy your year as Champs though
City will be tough to beat and are worthy favs but I’ll take Chelsea at the odds.Unusally for the Championship I can’t see past Newcastle and as I said in another thread I’d rather back a short winner than look for value and have a loser.
Argyle did alright last season and I’m not too keen on backing short odds in the lower two leagues as they often disapoint. Don’t read too much into managers but the gaffer has been given a decent length contract which shows faith.
Northampton destroyed League 2 last time and don’t see why they can’t make noises here. Kept a lot of their players and sometimes promoted sides go well again.
Good luck lads
August 5, 2016 at 12:01 #1258907First time I’ve done an ante post football bet Bobby, but thought I would have
a go when I saw your thread.I could have shaved a few fractions elsewhere, but I had a few quid in my Skybet
account, so I’ve had an accumulator on the following…..Premier League – Man Utd 3/1. If Mourinho gets his mix right, they would have to have a
shout. I think he did the right thing by having a clear out, the last two managers tinkered
a bit with the existing squad without wanting to upset the apple cart too much. That didn’t
work, they need real change. If they get off to a decent start there odds will diminish.Championship – Newcastle 7/4. They are too big a club not to fight their way back up (I’m sure
that’s been said before) I think Benitez will get it right….or I hope so.Scottish Premier – Rangers 3/1. State of football up here doesn’t bear thinking about and I’ve
no doubt it will be a 2 horse race again, even with Rangers coming back up this year. Personally
I couldn’t give a monkeys if it was Rangers or Celtic, I’d love to see someone else have a crack
at it….Hamilton Accies in my dreams, but it’s not going to happen. Possibly Celtic should do it,
but 1/4 is ridiculous, they are still a poor bunch, just maybe not as bad as some others. I’m doing
a lot to promote Scottish football here aren’t I
I don’t think there will be a fag paper between them at the end of the season.Scottish Championship. Hibs evens. They are by far the biggest club not in the top league, I can’t see
them not running away with this division. Dundee Utd will want back up, but they looked dire before they
went down.£30 accum, potential returns £2640……simples
August 6, 2016 at 12:02 #1259059I always do one Graham, but never had much joy, though got 4 out of 5 two years ago, doing me out of a lumpy 6 figures

Yeah, don’t bother with Scottish Football either, it’s just too “mickey mouse” for me. I’d settle for the Accies doing a “Leicester” though, but I’d much prefer it to be Motherwell performing that miracle

Best of luck G

Now I never would have thought you would have your eyes on the results from the Camrose! One of my regular haunts from non-league watching down south and always a bit of a soft spot for ‘The Stoke’.
