Quite a good effort by the Tories. Obviously it was all uphill after the disgraceful Bloody Sunday video and it’s very much the pot calling the kettle black but credit where it’s due. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.

101 possible frames across the semis and final, 100 played. Doesn’t get much better than that.

It takes two players to make a great final and well played to them both. Frames still being won in one visit right to the end under the highest pressure.

As you say, Wu seems a nice lad and have to say I’ve warmed to Allen and Murphy too. I know Murphy rubs people up the wrong way sometimes but he does seem genuinely gracious in defeat which is admirable.

Seeing as Reform doesn’t like the NHS, I assume we can look forward to assurances that all NHS facilities in Reform voting areas will be closed whilst the rest remain open, (proof of residency required of course).

The narrative tends to be that we should ‘look after our own first’ in which case they’ll also be happy to have all the British homeless people moved to their areas where they will no doubt be well looked after. Feel free to give them a room.

If they want to engage in that sort of vile politics then surely it has to be applied consistently.

Sci-fi has never really been my thing but I understand that tomorrow is ‘Revenge of the Fifth’

I’ve never seen the originals but I did see a couple of the second (to be released) trilogy and more recently Episode VII which was as you say good clean fun.

Which posters have advocated for ‘open borders’ and which parties have it in their manifesto for the next election?

What a match. You have to feel for Allen but winning three on the spin from 14-16 is seriously impressive. The studio pundits sounded a bit shocked after the frame where Allen missed the black, they clearly weren’t expecting to have to link to another one.

I think Murphy will not be relishing playing Wu instead.

I was laying the sarcasm on with a trowel. I haven’t seen the right wing media reaction to the arrests but when one of their own was inciting violence online that was pretty much what they said. Something tells me that it won’t quite be the same this time.

Of course free speech has its limits, it is it not freedom from consequences as I have said many times in the past. Anyone engaging in racism or discrimination should feel the consequences, regardless of who it is against or their political persuasion. I just hope that we see this applied equally. Police may be busy if it is.

Popcorn shares just went up. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out now the Saudi money tap has been turned off.

But it was just some bad words on social media. Shouldn’t the police be investigating real crimes? This is a threat to free speech!

I think that’s how it works.

These people are all over the place. GB ‘News’ is effectively a Reform propaganda channel and last time I knew, they wanted to remove protections which would therefore actually make discriminating against people based on skin colour (amongst other things) completely legal. As ever, the leopards are only supposed to eat other people’s faces.

Obviously this is performative nonsense as I am not sure how far a claim for ‘loss of earnings’ will go. Probably designed to lose so they can play the victim as usual.

What’s the story here? I’m going to guess that someone from the Green Party been caught saying something that were they from the Tories or Reform and/or a different group of people were on the receiving end then we wouldn’t hear a peep about it from right wing media.

As an addition to that question, does anyone believe that he and/or his party is recieving huge sums of cash without the expectation of something in return? Whose interests does he serve, working people’s as he claims or multimillionaire donors?

Rich people giving money to politicians is of course nothing new but Reform are supposed to be different aren’t they?

The King formerly known as Prince Charles. You can do your own Purple Reign jokes.

A function of the late Elizabeth II’s long reign perhaps? My mind is certainly drawn that way as opposed to Camilla when I hear ‘The Queen’. Nobody born in or after the 1950s has any living memory of anyone other than her being the monarch until very recently.

Victoria was of course on the throne for a very long time too but tradition and formality were stronger then.

I am no Royalist but that was a masterclass from the King.

Unlike many I actually didn’t have a problem with him going. Diplomacy is dealing with people you don’t like. Will it ultimately make any difference? Who knows, but not going would have been worse in my opinion. Even Trump may think twice before criticising the King (once he’s had the jokes explained to him) but pulling the visit would have allowed him to decry the move as political.

    Well played, Chas :good:

Surely a superinjunction would apply online, at least to those based in the UK which at least one of the two sites linked appears to be. The articles are still live and you can be sure the government is aware of their existence by now.

There doesn’t seem to be much comment from online political voices either, even those not linked to media outlets.

    Curiouser and curiouser.
