Where did they get those two Josh’es Stacey & Kerr from? They add nothing to the coverage & personally detract from it.
They look barely old enough to bet.

The lack of knowledge of racing history on RTV is shameful. How can a racing presenter not have heard of Night Nurse & other famous horses of the past.

If you have a stable of 300/400 horses & can enter half the field in a 20 runner race there is no glory if you win it.

If you throw enough s**t at a wall some of it will stick.

Its like Ethiopia or Kenya having 10 runners in an Olympic Marathon. Its no surprise than in the Olympic athletics countries are only allowed 3 athletes per event.

I would have gone to Sandown tomorrow but now will not bother.

As I have said before Mullins will destroy NH racing unless he is stopped.

The only answer re the trainers championship is to have a combined title
i.e before prize money comes into effect you need to have trained say 75 winners in the UK,maybe even higher than that.

It is not acceptable for a foreign based trainer to come & just win the big races.

At least Aiden O’Brien competes throughout the season here.Mullins is only interested in the big races. If he had’nt done so well in the Grand National, would his horses be running at Plumpton.No.

    Oscar,I totally agree.
Mullins is going to kill British NH Racing,
he does’nt care about the sport, smaller trainers or the history of racing,he is utterly ruthless.
Once he has killed it here he will probably move on to France.
    I find him detestable.

All weather racing or more accurately racing on an artificial surface is an absolute load of rubbish. If we have to have this trash it should only be held between December & March.

    Apracing

I would love to see these animal rights campaigners take in The Princess Royal & Zara Tindall over eventing.
They would get very short shrift.
    Deservedly.

The animal rights mob really are ignorant about horses, equine welfare & management apart from the fact that it is cruel & too gruelling in their words.
Often they don’t even know in which race a horse died.

I have FB friends who are anti & they were saying Willy Du Houelle died in the National etc etc or go on about the huge fences & drops & talk about incidents from decades ago.
They know nothing about the sport apart from their entrenched views. Its why Kevin Blake was able to show them up for the ignorant people they are.

Horses will die, same as people will die.Horses die in fields,in their boxes, bring trotted on roads. They will die.

Nothing can be done to make the race completely safe.

All the BHA can do is point out the changes ,improvements in equine welfare & also the large number of National winners still alive at a ripe old age.
I doubt the animal rights pressure groups could mount a legal challenge & if they did there are enough wealthy people in racimg who would ruin them.
Politicians have more pressing matters to deal with. The majority of the public still support racing, they must do judging by the crowds at Aintree & the turnover on the race. Its a loud minority who don’t.
Any party who supported banning racing would instantly hand the next election to Reform.

I would also add if the Anti’s get their way Celebre D’Allen would not exist at all. There are far worse things done to animals in this country, many of which go well under the carpet.
Racehorses are treated better than virtually all other animals, they are given veterinary care that I could not afford for my cat.Attention other horses & equines do not get.
These Anti animal rights fanatics are such animal lovers that in releasing mink from laboratories they have caused the deaths of many small creatures & destroyed entire ecosystems here.

The problem with the race are the changes. They have made fences (not just at Aintree easier to jump through) so horses & riders don’t respect them, reducing the size of the fences & the field size has caused a faster non stop pace. There is no hunting round anymore. That leads to more exhaustion & if horses fall worse falls.

This all happened in the distant past when the fences were compared to hurdles.
The fences need to be made bigger & the jockeys given strict instructions about how the course is ridden. The bigger fences would cause a slower pace & horses get back onto their hocks to jump.

As for the Antis, they cannot answer the most salient point. What happens to the horses if racing is banned here?
NH Racing will not be banned in Ireland nor in France so the best horses will end up there & obviously most of the best horses are already trained in Ireland anyway.Indeed the Irish may build a replica of Aintree if neccessary.

So horses will still die,in training & on the course. Its a consequence of a tough sport. But the alternative is to slaughter thousands of healthy fit horses & make a breed extinct. What gives anyone that right?

Its a minority of people who want racing banned, most of them are vegan or vegetarian s who would force their lifestyle on the rest of us.These people must be opposed.

Its not so much boring as dangerous to the future of NH racing, here & in Ireland.
If one person has the large majority of the best horses it will become a turn off. There has always been competition between top stables, nobody has dominated like Mullins does.
Its like the Premier League only have 4 or 5 clubs effectively.Say Man City,Man City B,Man City C,the same with Liverpool,Arsenal etc.

I can see a situation as with Arkle in the 60’s that their will have to be be some way of accounting for Mullins runners, either by giving them more weight (including in conditions races) or having 2 handicaps made, one with his horses & one without.

Me I am deeply suspicious of one person, country,et al producing astounding performances over & over especially when the emphasis is on stamina.

To me the Grand National is not the same race at all.The changes have made it more dangerous, not less. They go flat out for 4 1/4 miles, they jump through the fences not over, its an unpleasant sight. It is no longer a race I look forward to watching.

The authorites may well have put the final nail im the coffin of the race.

His domination is UTTERLY tiresome & for me is draining all the enjoyment out of NH racing.

Further to my previous post to negate Mullins & encourage owners to spread their horses around there needs to be a limit on runners per race per trainer.
I would limit each trainer to 3 runners per race maximum.

The Irish domination & in particular Mullins domination is killing the sport here.Big owners want their horses trained by Mullins,so are actively moving or have moved their horses to Ireland.
IMO there will be no Cheltenham or Aintree or any other jump racing here within 20 years.
Not that Mullins,Irish trainers or these rich owners care less.Money is all that matters nowadays.

Only flat racing is now truly top class & competitive here now & even that will end should the Arab owners get fed up & move away. They stay here for the prestige of British Racing.
