Quote: from empty wallet on 5:21 pm on Dec. 12, 2006[br]Yes it is about Wolverhampton, but my point is fatalities happen at other tracks and it is probably an unfortunate set of circumstances that there have been so many in such a short space of time
I suppose if you ran the same amount of racing at any other track we would maybe see the same amount of injuries,
Cheltenham had spate of injuries at one meeting, 10, i believe, should we blame Chelters or is it possible, it was the competitive nature of the racing that brought about these

There is about 2 fatality per flat course per season, I know there are going to be more in NH. But no flat racecourse has seen so many deaths in such a short time….
Tom Eaves has had a operation to pin his arm, the others are just bruised and battered, but will feel like they have been hit by a steam roller….
You cannot compare a incidents like this to a tuft track or jumping, its so different, for starters, a AW track has a layer of tarmac under it, which does not move, where under turf, you get that slid…and that give has a shock absorber…
Horatio Nelson was in the pack coming off of Tattenham corner…
But this post is about Wolverhampton…and to why there has been so many deaths within the last month….
but not all the horses involved had horses around them, Mantle was 4 lengths clear at the time..
I will speak to a few of the jocks over the weekend and see what they have to say
I would say no, and if they ever did get him race fit again, he would never be back to the prime horse he was, he would not be able to extend fully on that leg, i personally would retire him now.
Andy, I would look into your trainers training methods….good roadwork is good for the strengthing of the tendons, I do at least 4 months before even seeing the gallops, and I only work my horses twice a week, and they still do lots of roadwork….I have never had a horse breakdown on me…
They use those stallions, has NH ones cause they realise they are worth nothing on the flat…..but no one is breeding good old fashioned NH types anymore…I got youngsters that look like they should be in training for a Derby, not a local point to point…
Not really, Kempton is a new surface and Lingfield have had work done to the track and have raced on it less than Wolverhampton, which has taken some of the Great Leighs fixtures…
Polytrack rides good/good-firm, which is suited more to a galloping track, wolverhampton is a tight course, I have ridden round it, but that was a long time ago when it had fibresand…
Some of the jockeys have been quoted to have said the surface is not being harrowed regulary like it should be, so it is compacting…which will make it very firm to run on….
There must be a reson behind it all, it has to stop before a jockey gets killed….
I will look into the breeding thing, but very doubtful
Thank you, just finding my feet…..
Sadly this poor little horse had to be put to sleep, he was found to have a severe fracture of the pedal bone…
I go to Cheltenham for every meeting…You don’t have to dress up like a chav to be a lady enjoy racing…I am a lady, I enjoy racing, its my life, job and my hobbie….
I think its a great way to get more females to the track….
I wear a nice fitted tweed skirt suit, with a nice blouse or jumper, boots and tights….I sound old…I am just in my 30’s! I have outfits for different times of the year, I also have my posh frocks for Royal Ascot…
Its such a mans world, about time us females stood out a little…
Did you see the parade of Ex Racers before racing at Kelso?
I hear it was a great day up there??
