I just feel for Sean, who had ridden him in so many races, and then the owners sent him to be trained…. RIP warrior xxx
Mark and his mother have a racing partnership, and he has been living in Spain doing Bloodstock, he is now back in Lambourn at Carl’s or is due back there very soon
The horse in question is the flagship bearer of the charity HEROES http://www.heroscharity.org/monsignor.htm
Taken from the Racing Post:
KALAHARI KING, trained by Ferdy Murphy, is among nine British and Irish nominations for the Nakayama Grand Jump on April 18.
The major Japanese jump race has not welcomed European raidersfor some years, but Murphy also has another possibility in Three Mirrors.
Philip Hobbs has entered Monkerhostin, Hughie Morrison is responsible for Starzaan, while Venetia Williams could run Limerick Boy or Stan.
Tom Taaffe has put forward two horses – Finger Onthe Pulse and Window Of Hope – while the other Irish name among the nominations is the Dessie Hughes-trained Schindlers Hunt.

Skipper’s Cleuch is in the care of my friend and he is in top form and is doing ex racer classes etc up north, I will try and get a update and a pic for you.. (he is stunning)
Lady Harris has recentley (2006) had a horse in training with Venetia Williams Called King on the run…. Jimmy Frost used to be her regular pilot in the late 80’s. Another one was Herbert United trained by Toby Balding and he nearly knocked me over in a parade at Ascot in 1989, in the H & T Walker Gold Cup Chase Limited Handicap. (I was leading up)
Jamie mackay had a long ban last spring, and was taking a sabbtical, last I heard he was riding out for Ed Dunlop.
Last weekend at Arena in Lincs there was a huge ex-racer show… Also the ERC (Ex Racers Club) do parades around courses etc in the UK.
Thank you, just doing my bit…
I am hopefully going to Bangor, friend has a horse in the mares bumper

Loosing Ganymeade was like loosing a friend to me, his owner Kay lives not far from me and we have become friends through our love of racing… she is heartbroken… here are 2 messages she left for me:
Thanks Kaz – it was awful – right at the last fence and he got up and ran on on 3 legs…it was just one of those tragic accidents that no-one can foresee…Ganymede jumped left to avoid a horse that had already fallen…he sort of crumpled on landing and then another horse jumped straight into the back of him – it was no-ones fault – everyone is gutted…very sad day…xx
Hi Karen,
Thank you for your message,
It was the first time that I had lost a horse on the course – it felt like someone had punched me in the stomach…the worst of it was that it was at the last hurdle and as you know it is a very short run-in at Newton Abbot…there was already a faller and Ganymede jumped left to avoid it straight into the path of Colin Bolger’s horse and Colin had no way of avoiding him…Ganymede was sort of knocked over by Colin’s horse but not a full on fall and my first thoughts were that Tommy had been unseated – then I realized that Ganymede was coming towards me on 3 legs…poor boy…it was truly awful…he collapsed at the finishing line then got up and it was as if he was trying to get to where we were
– it was strange – he ended up at our feet under the running rail. But all credit to the vets etc – they were there really quickly and he didn’t suffer – he was still going on adrenalin. It was no-one’s fault just a freak accident…everyone was really gutted.Hope to see you soon,
K xx
RIP Ganymeade a true warrior until the end…such a beautiful boy
I had just read that, I remember when he was at Hen’s.. A good innings.
