Baden-Baden Racing Dates – Advice Please

Just by way of background, my wife and I have long wanted to visit Baden-Baden but couldn’t previously ‘cos our horses have been running during B-B’s main racing dates.

There was one, very reputable, racing trip organiser who promoted a trip there which includes racing on the 17th, 18th, 19th October. We couldn’t book that at the time because of not knowing if and when one of our horses would be running in the UK. So we planned to make our own arrangements to go this year.

But looking at B-B’s website Autumn racing dates are 30th August to 7th October and then 24th-26th October.

Does anyone know if the dates on the B-B site are comprehensive? Are there other dates not included for example.?

Advice would be very much appreciated.

I’ll be missing the Grosser Woche for the first time in 4 years next week as I’ve decided to go to the Belgian Grand National. However, the dates you have are correct, but the racing is not on all days. This is how the Grosser Woche and the October meeting works:

Racedays:
Grosser Woche
Saturday 30th August
Sunday 31st August
Tuesday 2nd September
Wednesday 3rd September
Friday 5th September
Sunday 7th September

Sales & Racing Festival
Friday 24th October
Saturday 25th October
Sunday 26th October

I’ve been so many times, but it’s always a great occasion. Our horse, Sworn Mum, ran there last year in a 50,000 Euro race, and it was absolutely incredible. The only down side this year is that the steeplechase usually run on Grosser Preis day (7th September) isn’t on, but the whole occasion is great.

I may be at the October festival myself, however literally in the last few hours, I’ve been invited to Cologne the week before, so I’ll have to see how things pan out.
