The worst is Lesley Graham – can anybody remember a few years ago on C4 she was caught out doing pre race analysis by simply reading out the spotlight comments for each horse straight from the RP. To be fair she now admits she knows very little about horseracing form analysis and has absolutely no interest in betting on the sport either. Come to think of it, it makes you wonder how she ever got a job presenting racing programmes at all?
Richard Hoilles is excellent
Careful Salselon, Dave’s right – you will get into hot water bypassing the company server to access sites they deem unacceptable.
I know a guy who got sacked for some thing similar. Turns out his actions were covered in the company policy manual in so far as he had jeopardised the security of the company on the basis that he could have down loaded something infected and so corrupting the whole server.
Eric Legrix – didn’t realise he was still riding. Got to be in his fifties now surely? From what I remember about him, he rode for the Wildenstein family for a while then went over to try his luck in Hong Kong but I’ve not heard of him for a while.
PF seemed to take ages to pick up before coming through late in the Pretty Polly but that was 10f. LS for me on decent ground /10f – she’ll be gone before PF gets into top stride but over 12f I’ll decide based on the ground on the day.
Agreed Seabird. Same happened to Chappers over at ATR. Looked like they were trying to get him the sack because he dared to express an opinion – something he is paid to do.
I know it’s been aid before on here but, if anything, racing journalists are too soft when it comes to jockeys and trainers.
Only in racing does this seem to happen. In other sports people seem to accept criticism and praise as a part of every day life without the ‘song and dance’.
Seems to be a different rule when it comes to foreign jocks though.
Low draws in sprint used to be essential although treat this rule with care when the going is riding on the easy side.
The worst one was ‘Pat on the Back’ a biography o Pat Eddery. It was written when he was 23!
The question is which channel is the best for the sport. Irrespective of the quality of programming output, this cannot be channel that puts restrictions on viewers watching it subscription free.
If you’re in a pub on a Saturday afternoon and fancy watching the racing, (it’s best to pick a pub with Sky), you will have access to whatever tracks the Beeb / C4 are showing + the whole of ATR’s output from GB & Ireland. RUK will show one race if you are lucky then the screens go blank.
The pub is expecting to pay 2K+ to subscribe which makes access to their tracks a non starter. Bad for the punter = bad for the levy = bad for the sport.
For me it’s that simple. Whether customers are at home or out and about, don’t turn them off by turning off access to the sport they wish to see / bet on.
The profile showed DS in a bad light. He’s only in the game for the money.
He obviously thinks he does not need to prepare as he cannot get any better. The fact is lack of preparation will always show and we now know why he is as poor as he is at times.
It’s honest of him to say that he does not like he work anymore, but I can’t help thinking that if he had come into the sport via working nights down a pit he would have more of an appreciation of being a pro in the racing industry.
