I have to say im glad New Zealand won the latest one day international match at the Oval yesterday. I was’nt all that bothered who was going to win, just enjoying a good match but then the dismissal of Elliott left a bad taste in my mouth and i cheered on Vettori’s team.
Accidental or not, it looked like obstruction to me and should of been a dead ball, even the umpires face said it all, fair play to Collingwood for admitting he was wrong after the game, but it should never of happened. I thought England lost the game due to a lack of a fifth bowler, which meant Bopara, Wright and Collingwood had to make up ten overs between them.

The group stages are about feeling your way into the tournament and qualifying any way you can. Germany did that, and now look good. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m saying the same thing about Italy after tonight’s game.
it’s interesting how the first three quarter finals went the way of the teams qualifying in second place with the group winners Portugal, Holland and Croatia all resting players in their last group games but still going out.

How impressive were Russia last night, no wonder England could’nt get past them even with a man down they looked most likely to score on a few occasion’s in extra time. Roman Pavluyochenko was also very sharp upfront and i would’nt be surprised in the slightest if a bigger european club try to sign him from Spartak Moscow.

Alfonso Thomas won the game for Somerset in the end, he’s been a good addition to the one day side and Banks bowled ok for someone who has not played much first team cricket this year.I cant speak highly enough about Hick, i remember when i was a young lad and he hit that 405 at Taunton, thought he was going to be the match winner today but the run rate caught up with him in the end.
